Updating a previous item, coach Pat Shurmur said his "feeling" is that CB Joe Haden (knee) will play Sunday.Earlier in the week, the feeling around the Browns was that Haden would need 1-2 more weeks before getting on the field. It's unclear if Shurmur is just employing some gamesmanship here as it relates to his emerging shutdown corner. Sidney Rice will get a downgrade if Haden does end up active. Published Fri Oct 21 1:32:00 p.m. ET 2011 (Rotoworld) Browns CB Joe Haden (knee) returned to practice on Friday.Analysis: It's Haden's first practice since he suffered what is believed to be a sprained MCL on October 2. Coach Pat Shurmur expressed confidence that Haden will be available for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, but it will probably be a game-time decision. The teams will face off in a 1ET game in Cleveland.
...and Washington's big catch was a pick play/blown coverage on Sheldon Brown. In fact he didn't score because Haden sprinted from the other side of the field and wrapped him up at the 5. Pretty sure that was the play he hurt his knee too. Pretty sure at least 2 of Marshall's catches were vs. Brown too.Haden might be the best corner in the game this time next year.Local radio said he practiced in the morning but not the afternoon. The AJ Green catch listed in the stats above came on a play where the Browns stayed in their defensive huddle too long and Green was completely uncovered at the snap.
Who are the top-5 corners in the NFL now; opinions (directed at anyone).RevisAsomough (how's he doing this year?)Woodson (still playing at a high level?)Samuel (see Asomough...)Bailey (see Woodson...)TalibHadenCromartiesChris HoustonJabari Greer has 23 tackles and leads the league in PDs this year...He's in the top 5 in the NFL for me. Definitely a factor for Rice this week if he plays.
RevisAsomughaWoodsonBaileyHaden - I think he's better than Woodson and Bailey, but he needs to continue to prove it to earn itSamuel creates turnovers, but he is a liability vs. the run and gives up too many plays trying to create them to be considered at the top. The rest are a big notch down from the above 5.Few other names to throw into the hat - Jonathan Joseph, Brandon Flowers, and Peanut Tillman. I like Tennessee's too, but none stand out...maybe McCourty eventually. Peterson's going to be great eventually too.Who are the top-5 corners in the NFL now; opinions (directed at anyone).RevisAsomough (how's he doing this year?)Woodson (still playing at a high level?)Samuel (see Asomough...)Bailey (see Woodson...)TalibHadenCromartiesChris HoustonJabari Greer has 23 tackles and leads the league in PDs this year...He's in the top 5 in the NFL for me. Ike Taylor from Pitt is really, really good. I'd take him over either of the Cromarties. To the original poster, I would say Haden is really good, but unless I hear my WR is going to be locked up by Haden (or Revis, or whoever) I am not really going to think about benching them. We just don't know what the defense's plans are for attacking the offense, and same for the offense. I think if I am debating between two players, the overall strength if the pass D plays a big part in my decision, but not an individual player. If you want to make this kind of move based on the opposing CB, you need to know if that is what Cleveland does. Do they put Haden on the other team's top WR, and have him cover him man-to-man the whole game? Heck, does anyone do that?Who are the top-5 corners in the NFL now; opinions (directed at anyone).RevisHe's in the top 5 in the NFL for me. Definitely a factor for Rice this week if he plays.
