Has the WW player of the year been discovered yet? (1 Viewer)

Has the player who comes out of nowhere to help fantasy teams make the playoffs been picked up yet??

Picked up Vick last year. Picked up Warner and Bruce in '99.

Has that player shown up on the radar yet?? If so who? If not who??

I think Cam Newton may be such a guy, but obviously he was grabbed in most leagues after week 1, if not, certainly after week 2.

It was Newton.Maybe Bernard Scott if he explodes over the next couple of weeks.
Last time I played with Bernard he was the seer and breadcrumbed his N1 view so obviously that he was wolf meatI am sorry, but crapping your bed whilst the seer is not WW Player of the Year material
May I add Scott MAY have a good run, but CIN plays:  Week 10: vs PittWeek 11: @ BaltWeek 13: @ Pitt

There wasn't really one last year. I think Tolbert was the best pickup and he was OK but not the type that's going to change your season.

The Steelers normally stout run defense has been anything but so far this year.

Brandon Lloyd, Stevie Johnson and LeGarrette Blount say hi.

WW player of the year is D. Moore. If you were lucky enough to be in a league where his owner dropped him for some insane reason, and you picked him up, congrats to you.

The train has left the station, but you can still get onboard. Last year to land Vick, I traded away Santana Moss for Vick before it was certain he'd keep the starting job. If you are willing to part with a known commodity, you might be able to get him while there is still lingering doubt if he is another Frisman Jackson.

I have a feeling it's Kendall Hunter but people are probably adding him this week.
Never knew Kendall's last name. Listen, I'd give it to Kendall based on his legendary status and dreamy pecs, but he has been MIA most of the season. I think he's a REAL longshot.
yeah it's a longshot but every time I see the kid with the ball he's been explosive. Gore said that he might not be able to play next week. I think if Gore is inactive for 3 weeks, Hunter will steal the job from Gore.

VickHillisBrandon LloydSteve Johnsonetc
add Jacob Tammee, and VJax because of his holdout. At one point last year I was starting Vick, Hillis, Steve Johnson, VJax, and Jacob Tammee and a few guys I drafted! I was one week too late with Lloyd. Went to the championship with a team of WW pickups! I don't see this years yet but that doesn't mean he hasn't already been picked up. I do think Nelson is this year's WR pickup in PPR formats.

I like Kendall Hunter if Gore's injury turns out to be lingering or gets re-aggravated, and then Bernard Scott, as mentioned above, could take the Cincy job during Benson's suspension and run with it

Edit: Thank you

I am not sure if Moore can keep this up when Jacoby Ford is healthy. Anyone think Ford is out of the starting gig because of his hamstring injury? Personally I think Ford will be back.

Vick? Hillis? Where were you last year?

Moore has been working as the backup split end behind Heyward-Bey. Ford was the starting flanker. If Ford's healthy, my guess is he returns to the starting lineup. The only question I see there is whether the Raiders are smart enough to put Moore in the starting lineup over Heyward-Bey and leave him there.

I got very nice games out of Dan Thomas and R Gronkowski yesterday while tieing the 4 year old record for weekly points scored. Got both off waivers this year. If I had played Cam Newton, a FA pickup, I'd have set the record by a significant amount. Fred Davis and Denario Moore are looking strong on other teams.

There are always good FA plays. RB is the most likely. But other spots as well.

Mike Vick last year was a once-a-decade (or more) pickup. The guy led the #2QB in the league by 6 points per game.

The Kurt Warner year when Trent Green got hurt was a nice 1 too.

no one will even be talking about D Moore in 2 weeks... he'll just be ANOTHER in a long line of fantasy irrelevant WR's in Oakland.

Warner went undrafted in many leagues a few years back when leinart was supposed to be the guy. Id say the year warner had was as big of an impact as Vick's. I know vick was on a superhuman pace which warner didnt match but the impact of both of them as a FA pickup is what im referring to.

You're right about Warner that year being strong. But he ranked somewhere around #3-#5 overall QB. Obviously huge if you needed a QB. But last year, Vick was #1 on a ppg basis by an obscene 6 ppg in my league. Thats about a 25% advantage over every other starter at that position. An enourmous advantage for anyone trotting him out there.

That year I beat the Brady (50 Tds) - Moss (23 TDs) - Welker (200 receptions...or something ;ike that) owner Week 16. Warner was huge in playoffs for a lot of teams, in a Billy Volek kind of way.

Moore is the correct answer. Ford will never send him to the bench, Ford is a Ford, Moore is Vette
You the same guy that predicted Detroit would win five games this year? It's possible both guys have talent, and not in a only so much pie gets sliced up way. We've definitely seen situations where two talented WRs are complimentary because you can't focus on just one of them.Moore has had two special weeks that seem to forecast good things to come; lot to like. But Jacoby has playmaking ability as well.

You may be right, but after reading you post over and over about his likely demise, I want nothing more than him to be the top WR in football this year.

moore 34 yards this week...is that supposed to be good? He won;t have another rushing td all year. You guys are crazy if you think he is the pickup of the year. How about the guy averaging 7 receptions and 80 yards per game and is now the #1 on his team....NW.

for most, perception > reality . . .

In a season with soo many injuries already you gotta look @ a proven veteran if all the potential blue chippers are gone

Terell Owens... he put up numbers last year and must be loving all these injuries to these Wrs, someone will give him a call sometime this year definately a guy to take a chance on if you have a roster spot. Every year a couple of proven vets who fell off the face of the fantasy earth that resurface and become difference makers, he's a quick healer, and a media whore ,meaning his voice will be heard soon,

Even a guy like David Garrard would be a good guy to keep on your bench, if Indy was smart they would have given him a call already. I could see a guys like T O and Garrad potentially making a difference for fantasy teams by seasons end That guy had 30 TDs last year on Jacksonville the guy could still play, and players are getting in record numbers this year.

If you want a potentially blue chipper take a chance on Williams (Tennesee) if guys like the Nelsons, Decks,Sanders are gone, sometimes the difference maker isn't always the most obvious choice even though Nate will get his targets Williams will get single coverage the rest of the year, Hasselback is a very unselfish Qb so he will look for Williams a lot.

He's rookie and he was playing against Cromartie & RevisMust be a scrub

Umm, in return yardage leagues, Ford is a beast. #6 overall WR last 8 games of 2010 in one of my leagues. Not too shabby on offense either. Can't way to see the double reverse with Ford and Moore, hope the opposing team has stain remover for their uniform bottoms.

Tell us all why he won’t have another rushing TD this year? Did you even see that run? It was all Moore’s open field running and especially the goal line ball control to stretch for the TD. He makes splash plays regularly like that. It’s also important to note that it put the Raiders up for good late in the game and killed the Jets momentum. You think the Raiders won’t go back to that bag of tricks with a playmaker like Moore? You must have some magic crystal ball to see these things. But more likely, you haven’t been watching Moore actually play. Why should we be impressed with a 4/34 receiving stat line? (you may ask) Consider that he caused 4 PI penalties on his opposing CB Cromartie. If Moore was not interfered with, he’d have had 8/100+ and a strong possibility of a TD or two. He’s gone against a couple of good CB’s, guys with big egos that tout themselves as “shutdown” corners in McKelvin and Cromartie, and basically dressed them down. Against McKelvin 5/146/1, (nuff said). And Cromartie basically #### his pants trying to cover him, so much so that he needed to interfere to stop him. Had he played it straight, he’d have been posterized for huge stats just like McKelvin, and he knew it. Cromartie had a historically bad day. Those 4 PI’s got in his head so much he later fumbled a key punt return. So if all you want to say about D. Moore’s 4/34 day was that it wasn’t impressive, it just shows that you read box scores and don’t actually watch the game. Going forward, I don’t expect many CB’s to draw multiple PI’s to stop Moore. Cro recognized that Moore was someone he couldn’t defend, so he cheated to save face. You could easily say Cro had a much worse day than McKelvin did trying to defend Moore. In real football terms, not fantasy terms. Going forward, as long as the DB’s play honest, Moore is going to own one DB after another after another. Don’t be expecting his stat line to be typically 4/34. Remember, most expected Moore to have an off day against Revis & Cro and the vaunted Jets defense. And he still had a good day.

Cromartie had 4 pass interference calls against him, with I think at least a few on Moore. Might have been a bigger day if Cro learned to keep his hands to himself.

Odds are that Moore and Ford eat into each other's value!

Thanks, i live in the bay area and the game was televised and i watched the entire thing. Why did you waste your breath typig all of this? i didn't say he stunk...I said he isnt the pickup of the year. And i'll rephrase, he most likely will not have another rushing td this year considering he is a wide reciver playing in a rotational receiver set.
