We're picking up every chump that lines up under center in the NFL - and I do mean EVERY - while jettisoning Jake. Those first two brutal weeks have made the guy an afterthought. OK last week, kept the TOs out of the pic but only a Walker moment of brilliance or two made the statline respectable.

Have we thrown up our hands and relegated this guy to #32? Can a guy lose it that completely, that quickly? Can improved line play get the guy back to being the scorer we have seen the past 3-4 years?

This is the first year I havent drafted the guy, but know I could get him in every league for less than a handful of butterscotch candy and cant help but think he has nowhere to go but up.....or to the bench. Pretty good upside for only a handful of butterscotch. Any one else think he has enough left to stash?

I will have him out of my lineup for the first time this weekend. Plummer gets a bad rap but he has put up good numbers in the past. The fact that he has shown to start slowly has also been beaten to death around here as well.

If you can get him for cheap, you have little to lose.

STASH

Hell no... I haven't.

Despite him pretty much singlehandedly killing me in Weeks 1 and 2, he'll prove to be a good backup to Delhomme should Steve Smith get hurt again.

The cat won AT New England. That is getting the job done. Javon Walker is only gonna get better too...

If oyu have Jake, ALWAYS start him at home. Except for the KC game, he has always performed as a good bye-week filler at minimum in home games.

On the orad is a different story, last week he was pretty good though......or was NE that bad?

Den's on bye this week. if you know the owners in the league hate him, you might as well cut him for a week for a bye replacement. then pick him up next week. I too do not see an issue with him. His first 2 games last year were the same and as Walker gets more chemistry with Plummer, he will be scoring in bunches in the 2nd half of the season.

If he's on a waiver wire...someone is making a bad mistake.

Outside of injury...he's almost a lock for top 20.

Had to replace Simms. There he was, sitting right there on the waiver wire. Yet somehow I just couldn't pull the trigger. Instead opted for that Top 5 guy, you know,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,F R Y E.

BtW-He's still there, as FA pickups roll on this week.

on waivers in both my 12 team redraft leagues....along w/ brooks of course (who I originally drafted in the 8th round).

I gotta agree. Just like I wouldnt scrap Bulger, I think this guy has too many opportunities and offensive strength out there with him to not pull the season together. Would rather grab and hold him than rush out to pick up whatever 3rd stringer happened to have a good week. I'll never start him with confidence again as I have in the past, but he's always a threat for the high 200s and a 2TD game. Of course he's also a threat for 180 and 3 INTS when he turns into Brett Favre without the grit and talent.

Had to drop him, start 8 and bench 6 every week makes for some tough decisions. But at my scoring system, -3 for any turnovers, had to cut him loose.

Plummer's on a bye, then comes back to face Baltimore. I can do without for the next two weeks.

With Tatum Bell as the RB1 there and no Mike Anderson, could we see more passing TDs near the endzone to HBs and TEs?

Havent paid much attention, and I would imagine the safer the pass, the better in Plummer's case, but how often are we likey to we see that in the redzone in Shanny's offense?

Jake killed me the first two weeks.I started out 0-3 (double header wk. two) ofcourse I drop him and he puts good pts. on the board. He is still on the wire but I'm not touching him.I picked up Pennington instead.I want a steady producer not someone who is up and down throughout the year.

I don't know. In 2004 when Plummer had 27 TDs, he had 7 TD to TEs, 5 to RBs. Last year he had 6 to RBs, but only 2 to TEs. That's actually probably similar %-wise of all the passing TDs. But the year with the higher number of passing TDs to TE/RB is also the year Denver had a more pass-heavy team TD split.

I actually cut him prior to last week - I needed a roster psot for a bye-week kicker replacement. I didn't want to cut my kicker because Kaeding has been doing pretty good thus far, and I was afraid someone else would take Kaeding to fill a kicker spot for this week.

I gambled, and assumed no one would take Plummer, as he was ranked 29th out of 32 heading into last week, and had a bye this week. The gamble paid off, and I was able to re-claim him off of waivers.

I think Plummer has a much bigger upside than Carr, Frye, etc.

TBell is possibly the worst recieving RB in the NFL.TE position has been unreliable so far this season - until Scheffler gets his act together and starts catching, I don't think TE will be a consistently viable red zone threat.I don't see any reason for an uptick in red zone passing TD's from Plummer compared to last year.

Plummer is a safe drop. No one wants him on their roster. If you drafted him, you can safely drop him for the bye week and the Baltimore game--no one will grab him. After then, you can safely pick him up while using the extra roster space as needed for the next couple of weeks.

If he's dropped in any of my leagues, I'm gonna jump all over it. Hard to find a better QB2 anywhere

Incl. Frye, Carr and the rest of the scrubs

he was dropped but i stood pat w/ Favre and Rivers... despite him being taken 1 pick before i took Favre (which enraged me at the time because the guy already had Brady from the 2nd round and i wanted him :loco: )

I grabbed him in 2 leagues. Having relied on a strategy of "Draft Delhomme late" in several leagues, to say my QB production has been lacking would be an understatement.

I'm going to do something I've never really done before and carry 3 QBs for a while, with the 3rd being Rivers.

The problem with Plummer is, I'm just not sure in what spot I'm going to feel comfortable starting him.

Mentioning Plummer and playoffs together caused a severe case of puckerage.

I didn't drop him but I did trade his sorry ###, chump cost me my first two games of the season with his junior high level performances.

Peyton Manning Owner here. Funny, I didn't draft a backup but knew I needed one for Manning's bye (week 6). I saw Plummer released to waivers after the first two weeks and immediately welcomed him to the team with open arms.He was the perfect compliment to Manning. Not only does he play the Raiders in week 6, his playoff games are SWEET as mentioned above.Insurance package in case Manning were to get hurt OR the Colts have locked up their division and have nothing to play for down the stretch. As for his upside, come on, barring injury I believe the guy is a lock for top 12.

He was dropped after game 2 in one of my leagues,

I had the 5th pick in the WW, and to my surprise,

I landed him. (very competitive league)

He should not be on any WW.

I dropped him after week 2. I had him and Leftwich and now I have Kitna, Pennington and Grossman. Ill take my shot with the new guys. Jake destroyed me the first two weeks.

He is still on the ww in my league almost two weeks after I dropped him

Abso-freaking-lutely. It hasn't been mentioned yet, but there are a LOT of factors involved in Plummer's poor start, and Plummer isn't even close to being the primary one.#1- Tons of drops. It's truly uncharacteristic for a Denver team, but the WRs and TEs have been dropping the ball like they play for Seattle. Javon Walker dropped two GUARANTEED TDs against St. Louis. Tony Scheffler had a ball hit him in the freaking helmet. Even Rod Smith has gotten into the act, which is *extremely* out of character. One of Plummer's INTs went directly through David Kircus's hands and into the waiting arms of the DB behind him. Another of Plummer's INTs was a pass that was tipped by its intended target. Tack on an extra 4-6 completions a game, an extra TD or two, and one or two fewer INTs, and suddenly Plummer's numbers start looking a TON better.#2- The Offensive Line. There's been a lot of regression here, which was entirely unexpected since Denver was one of the very few teams to return all the starters from last season, when their O-Line was absolutely DOMINANT. To be honest, though, Denver's O-Line has never been as good in pass protection as it has in run blocking. It's undersized (lightest line in the entire NFL, with only one player over 300 pounds), and they tend to get pushed around a little bit over the course of the game by larger defensive players. The reason why Plummer has been sacked at a lower rate than anyone other than Manning or Favre over the last 3 seasons has more to do with Plummer and the playcalling than it has the line (which is a pretty average pass-protecting unit). Speaking of playcalling, there's point #3...#3- Playcalling. Mike Shanahan admitted that with the defense playing so well, he's been running a scaled back offense. Unlike most people, I don't think that's a reflection on Plummer as much as it is a reflection on the defense, and the defenses he's faced. Shanahan frequently scales back his playbook some for offenses as aggressive as KC's. The big thing that has me totally confused, though, is Denver's unwillingness to roll Plummer out. Nobody in the entire NFL has a better QB rating when outside of the pocket than Plummer does. He throws like Michael Vick inside the pocket and like Peyton Manning outside of it. Just the threat of the bootleg is often enough to keep defensive ends at home, which makes him a little bit more comfortable when he's NOT rolling out, which helps his numbers. Seriously, watching Plummer run the bootleg is like watching a world-class conductor conducting a symphony. It's a thing of perfectly choreographed beauty... and it's also a weapon that Denver quite simply has not used much this season.#4- Plummer himself. I actually don't think he looks much (if any) worse than he did last year, but the fact remains that if your numbers are suffering, you have to get some of the blame. He still tries to do a bit too much when he's trailing, but he's been that way his entire career.Anyway, I fully expect Plummer to be fine this season. From the looks of it, his uncharacteristically poor performance is a combination of uncharacteristically poor performances from his targets, uncharacteristically poor protection from his offensive line, and uncharacteristically cautious playcalling from his coach. With so many uncharacteristic factors, Plummer's numbers have nowhere to go but up.

Havent paid much attention, and I would imagine the safer the pass, the better in Plummer's case, but how often are we likey to we see that in the redzone in Shanny's offense?
That's historically always been a large part of Shanny's offense. I'm sure we're all by now familiar with Shannon Sharpe, but if you look, Shanahan's always had a history of getting a lot of TDs to his TEs, even when Sharpe was gone (usually by using a committee). I remember Patrick Hape, who in 2004 was the Jerome Bettis of tight ends (8 catches for 35 yards and 4 TDs). Hape got 9 TDs in 4 years with Denver (on 32 catches), and iirc only one of them came from more than 1 yard out... and that one was a two yard "bomb". Last year, with no real dual-threat TE on the roster (great blocking, solid hands), Denver turned to its FB and got Kyle Johnson involved in the red-zone passing game (17 catches, 5 for TDs). Dwayne Carswell also became the first guard in the history of the NFL to have a 2-TD game (he was a former TE who converted to guard and lined up as a tackle-eligible in heavy goal-line sets).Historically speaking, the RBs aren't going to get *ANY* goal-line receptions (or, if they do, then very very few of them)... but Denver will absolutely positively involve its TEs and FBs at the stripe. I expect Denver's TEs and FBs to combine for anywhere between 6-8 goal-line TDs this season.

The big thing that has me totally confused, though, is Denver's unwillingness to roll Plummer out. Nobody in the entire NFL has a better QB rating when outside of the pocket than Plummer does. He throws like Michael Vick inside the pocket and like Peyton Manning outside of it. My impression, based purely on the NE game, is that opponents have had all offseason to disect the bootleg based offense, and they are ready for it. DE's are staying home, and not getting burned by the play-action. When Jake rolls out, the DE is right there and Jake has to get rid of it, much quicker than he would like to. This SHOULD open things up for the running game, because of the DE is watching Jake, he's not crashing into the cutback lane. The thing that I don't understand is that the reverse has been there - the reverse puts the same pressure on the DE, and it has been sucessful thus far.I expect the bootleg to open up shortly, once TBell rips off a few big runs. Also, this bye week will give Shanahan a chance to tweak the offense.

His games during week 15 & 16 (playoffs) - Arizona and Cincy
I'm trying to get him on my bench behind Vick for this reason. Vick will be a nice option, but it'd be good to have Plummer on my bench if he improves late in the season. I don't think the Broncos will have sew up their playoff spot or homefield too early, so a rebounded Plummer in weeks 15 and 16 look pretty good.In another league, I've picked up Trent green off the wire to back up Bulger. They have the same opponent weeks 15 and 16 (Oakland, who should be phoning it in by then).
