Having another hip replacement, so I thought this was funny (1 Viewer)

Having right hip replacement tomorrow. Already had the left done twice 2007 and 2024. I ran into this and thought it was hilarious.

Woke up from surgery and my pubes were shaved?

Bummer bc I don't want my friends seeing this...

Like the title says, I had my surgery yesterday and was shocked to discover the disappearance of my pubic hair… I understand shaving the back, front and sides of my knee and maybe up the quad a bit, but is it really standard to have them shave your whole nether regions??? I feel extremely violated, as this was not discussed with me pre-op. Is this normal? Should I contact a lawyer?

Poor fella in the next room waiting for his gender modification procedure says his knee is killing him!

I had brain surgery to remove a cyst when I was 14. There is a major vein down there that is basically a straight shot up if I remember right. A student nurse who I remember as being very hot came in the night before to shave down there. Hard to control things when you are 14.

Reminds me of the first time I had a kidney stone at age 17. Was in the hospital overnight for a scan the next morning. In the middle of the night, some guy wakes me up and says he had to give me an enema. Quite shocking for a shy naive 17 year old country boy. That still wasn't as bad as the time they had to go look for one.

Anyway, good luck on the replacement. You will be good as new in no time.

I was so groggy on the Oxy. I came home and slept and felt better when I woke up. I know that phase II pain hasn’t hit me yet, but I hate the way opioids make me feel. Next drug to take is Tramadol.. On the way home from the hospital we went through McDonalds drive-thru and I got a cheeseburger. Four bites into it and up it came. After waking up from my nap I ate a pop tart and it stayed down. Tasted good.

Edit: My wife made me some scrambled eggs and I was able to keep them down.

I can't remember... was your 2007 version done with poisonous metals? Someone here had that.
Over time it developed higher than wanted cobalt, but not dangerous levels. Yes that was me. I had it redone in January 2024.
Wasn't that a recall?
No. After many years the metal joints can get cobalt. Mine was minimal, but they decided to replace anyway last January. That was the left hip. Yesterday I had the right hip done.

Tell me about the revision surgery, the replacement of the artificial hip. I had my left hip replaced 9 years ago and there are "issues" with it. The surgeon who did my right hip said to wait because revision is more to deal with than a simple replacement.

What a difference though in surgery from 9 years ago vs more recent.
2016: hospital stay for 2 nights; pain for weeks; walker for a few days, cane for more days.
2024: outpatient surgery, I was out the door before noon; walked into PT the next morning carrying a walker (in case it was needed); was riding a bike within a week or so. This surgeon uses a Mako robot for surgery assistance and I'll definitely go that route when times comes to redo the left hip.
