Considering the amount of material being crammed into 10 total hours, they are doing a remarkable job of storytelling.
And the acting is some of the best around.
Things are set up nicely. I like not seeing sone charscter for an episode because it helps show that time has passed when they reappear (like Cat tonight).

I recall Lommy's death being something that really affected me when reading Clash of King's many years ago. I wasn't much bothered by the youthful sex and incest like Pick and Chet, but the brutal, casual killing of peasant children was a bit hard to stomach at times. Anyway, I don't think its much of a spoiler to note that it seems they might be carving a large section out of the Arya storyline by having Amory Lorch's gang take the survivors of Yoren's gang directly to Harrenhal.

The problem with Arya's story is that it is mostly an internal one and often with relatively insignificant players. It is really hard to translate her story to the screen. I think they made a great call with Yoren's story about his brother and Willem in the show because that will be important to setting up Arya later (it wasn't in the book).

It was a chapter or two. The only thing I think the cut out (that they should've left in) is Yoren telling Arya that her dad wasn't supposed to be killed and was to be sent to The Wall instead. It should've followed right after the Willem story because that would've given reason for her to start her prayer with "Joffrey".

Best episode of the season so far. With the size of the cast, they really do need to focus on less characters per episode in order to develop the actual scenes and let them breathe. Damn shame that there aren't more episodes, though. Loved the scene between Arya and Yoren, and Tyrion is so money. Hope they develop both characters properly.
Would be awesome for them to end the next episode with Arya saying her nightly prayer for the first time.

I thought they were on their way to Winterfell, then the Wall? I see on the Viewers Guide that Harrenhal is under Lannister rule, but used to be Tully ally....with Slynt gone, is it now a safe place for the 'good guys'?

He is considering eventually creating alliances by marrying off Myrcella and Tommen, but that was just a test to see where other Small Council members' loyalty lie.

Slynt was Lord of Harrenhal in title only. He never actually made it there. However, it is not a safe place at the moment for our protagonust.

It was both. He told them 3 stories. One was true. Whichever told the queen regent first was the least trustworthy. Also, Harrenhal is a Lannister stronghold. Arya and Co are being taken there as prisoners essentially. Sending Littlefinger to Renly's camp to negotiate with Cat strikes me a bit odd.

It is, but in the book a similar scene takes place when Theon first get's off his ship, IIRC. He's given just a quick 'baptism' and not the whole thing

I think you're right about the baptism ritual being perfunctory for regular believers, but the drowning and resuscitation is supposed to be for the priests like Aeron. There's not any magic involved in the resuscitation part, though, just CPR - Aeron says in the book how the ceremony's not always successful because some of the prospective priests are too far gone to be able to be brought back after the drowning.'Matthias said:

Completely. There is a lot being lost to save time. It has to be done for some extent, but non-readers completely missed on his death. IN the series, nothing more than offing an insignificant character to throw the crown off Gendry's trail. And by going straight to Lorch and completely missing the Brave Companions, we are going to lose some of the primary driver's of Arrya's character development, who seems at the end of DoD to be the most important.

first and second episodes were a little shaky imo, but this one was excellent. I think they did a good job of streamlining Arya getting taken prisoner by Lorch and setting all that up, Tyrion's trickery was great, and Brienne is just about perfect for the role. Also, Margaery Tyrell is freakin' hot
