they really are doing a nice job setting up tyrion as the fall guy for Jeff's death at his wedding.

Dude with a deep voice, right? It's The National.I keep listening to The Rains of Castamere on youtube. It's a pretty badass song. I know the lyrics are GRRM's, but who wrote the music?

As long as the books are unfinished, no sense in rushing things on the show.Maybe they can condense crows and dragons to one season, but there's a lot of material there.

Abrantes said:Way better episode than the past couple. Much, much better. I tend to enjoy the more dialogue-driven episodes, apart from last week's. No Theon, thankfully.
Going over "The Rains of Castamere" was great. The foreshadowing for the next episode was great, and I'm very thankful that they didn't beat us over the head with it too much. Ned's death scene was awesome in part because it wasn't advertised in big neon letters, and I feel they did a good job here as well..

If they bypass most of that and focus on what the Starks are doing afterwards, it'll work.
Seeing the Hound and Arya ride to the aftermath should be good too.
Arya taking an axe to the head as the closing scene to the season would drive the non-readers nuts

I was of the opinion that a) it was in the book, and b) it's HBO - pretty sure they are going to go there. My co-worker thought it was a bit too morbid, even for HBO.

After watching all the Theon scenes, I wouldn't think that image would be crossing the line for HBO. I just finished book 3 and as I was reading this part, I thought of that as my season 3 closing and season 4 opening with
Joffrey all giddy upon hearing of Robb's death with Tywin, Cersei & Tyrion (I think those 4 were in the scene)
You mean leech? Probably cuz she's not involved in the war yet.why didn't Stannis use a slug for Dany?
So - what gets spoiler tags in this thread? anything not in the show yet?
I have no idea.ha, yea. Seems odd to blow one on Balon Greyjoy and not on Dany, assuming he's aware she is raising an army, has dragons, and wants to reclaim Westeros. I get he's not a major part of the story, and Dany is...You mean leech? Probably cuz she's not involved in the war yet.why didn't Stannis use a slug for Dany?
You've said this before, but I really don't see how they could dedicate 3 seasons to books 4 and 5 without making it unwatchable.I agree and think crows and dragons could be 3 seasons possibly (in chronological order) which would give grrm 4-5 years to finish the song.As long as the books are unfinished, no sense in rushing things on the show.Maybe they can condense crows and dragons to one season, but there's a lot of material there.
The sheer length of Dragons lends itself to two seasons. It's almost 100 pages longer than Swords. You've said this before, but I really don't see how they could dedicate 3 seasons to books 4 and 5 without making it unwatchable. I'd also bet good money that he won't be done with the book series in 5 years (if ever), but that's just speculation.I agree and think crows and dragons could be 3 seasons possibly (in chronological order) which would give grrm 4-5 years to finish the song.As long as the books are unfinished, no sense in rushing things on the show.Maybe they can condense crows and dragons to one season, but there's a lot of material there.
so if my math is anywhere remotely correct, we are looking at a minimum of 10 years to finish the HBO seriesThe sheer length of Dragons lends itself to two seasons. Being that book 6 is yet to be completed, I think we are looking at 9-10 seasons to A) cover all the material and B) give GRRM time to complete the writings. No way they screw him over and do seasons before he releases the books. Hopefully he is able to keep it to 7 total and if they are long, maybe HBO gives us more that 10 episodes for the final two seasons.so if my math is anywhere remotely correct, we are looking at a minimum of 10 years to finish the HBO seriesThe sheer length of Dragons lends itself to two seasons. The issue is the kids are going to be 30.so a year to film a book and then break it into 2 possible 3 seasons on HBO. WIth 2 books left then we are pushing 12ish years to complete. I am not complaining just think its cool that this show will be on for a long long time
I snickered when Sansa told Tyrion on this week's episode that she's 14. With each passing season bringing HBO’s Game Of Thrones ever closer to the end of George R.R. Martin’s published novels—and each passing day bringing news of Martin seemingly doing anything but writing those novels—many have wondered whether the show will be increasingly forced to pad things out to give Martin time to complete his saga. Recently, co-showrunner David Benioff addressed those concerns to Entertainment Weekly, stressing that Game Of Thrones doesn’t want to be “a show that outstays its welcome,” and rebuking the idea of dragging on for 10 seasons—even if it meant using the “broad strokes of Martin’s ending” the author has already provided to conclude the show before the final books are released.
Now producer Frank Doelger has put an even more definite, albeit still-tentative cap on the series: “I would hope that, if we all survive and if the audience stays with us, we'll probably get through to seven seasons,” Doelger said at the recent BAFTA Awards, a number that would match the promised seven books Martin says he will eventually publish… you know, whenever.
As Doelger elaborates, “[The number of series] is being discussed as we speak. The third season was the first half of book three, season four will be the second part of book three. . . George R.R. Martin has written books four and five; six and seven are pending.” And that would mean, if this plan pans out, some of the material from those later books will obviously have to be condensed in order to make it all work. (“Man, you’ll never guess who died and also who went through a complicated power struggle yesterday,” one character might say, before covering the events of an entire novel in one quick monologue over a cup of wine.) Anyway, there’s still time for producers to map all that out, and for people on the Internet to tell them how they should do it. [via Rolling Stone]
Yea, I saw that. Would they really screw the author over like that though? It's like big spoilers for all the readers.Prepare to be disappointed. No sense splitting her Season 4 over two continents. I think EP 9 is primarily Red Wedding ending with her getting smacked...then EP 10 is her and The Hound and her leaving him. 10 will also be the reactions of everyone else; with Balon Greyjoy dying....as they need to set up the Iron Born for Season 4.That gives a Season 4 that will include: The Greyjoy's, Joff and Tywin's death, the introduction of the Martell's/Viper v. Mountain/, the Battle at The Wall and whatever they want to do for Dany and Arya.
I think this is definitely going to happen. Season 4 will wrap up Storm of Swords and delve into the next two books I bet. There is no other way to do it. They can't ignore half the stories for a year.Maybe they can condense crows and dragons to one season, but there's a lot of material there.
