Sorry, paperback version of Dance with Dragons comes out Oct 29th. I'm cheap and technology adverse.

I'm guessing with the paperback version coming out now, that hardback sales are starting to decline. Which gives me hope that the 6th book should be coming out sometime next year? And yes, I really think Martin could have had the 6th book a lot sooner, but with the popularity of the series, he's trying to squeeze every last dime out of this.

The paperback date has been set for a long time, my guess is to milk the hardback sales as long as possible. I've been waiting a long while for the paperback because I'm too cheap to shell out $20 immediately plus wait another 5 years for the next one.

Yeah, Martin got himself all ####ed up timeline-wise. There are parts of AFFC that happen about 2/3 of the way through ASOS. And one character was almost a year in front of the end of AFFC when it ended. Lots of ADWD happened during/immediately after ASOS. So, I can see them mixing it together the way it should chronologically be.

The more I think about it, I feel seasons 5 and 6 are a mash-up of Crows and Dragons put together chronologically. They definitely will get 2 if not somehow 3 seasons out of that material. If Winds of Winter isn't out by spring, then who knows when a Dream of Spring (or a Time for Wolves) will be out. Then the show is either 1. totally screwed; 2. goes on hiatus; 3. goes its own way; or 4. uses info from GRMM but spoils the books.

After reading all the book passages that relate to him I was left wondering, what the hell is Roose Bolton?

His age is a little ambiguous, he leeches himself and says that Ramsay (his *******'s) blood is bad since he doesn't use leeches, his eyes are pale/ice colored (this is mentioned maybe 100 times), the circumstances surrounding his other son's deaths is ambiguous, his house has been a historical enemy of the Starks and Roose betrayed them.

I think he may be some sort of agent for the Others. Or maybe even half Other himself. Possibly via the Night King story from Old Nan or something.

Book 6 isn't out yet, and Book 7 is just a dream right now. And who knows how long those books will be or whether GRRM actually makes it an 8 or more book series instead. I also think there is enough material in books 4-5 to cover two seasons if need be.
