HBO - Song of Ice&Fire Series -Varsity Thread - no TV only whiners (1 Viewer)

Again, I think it explains away the, "How did Jaqen end up in the black cells in the first place" question.  But would Meryn Trant have left him alive after he helped Arya escape?  There are other possible explanations, sure.  I just think people are looking so hard for the twists anymore that they're ignoring the likely.
The Trant problem is a big one with this theory.  Agree that it makes it extremely unlikely.

Stabbed Arya will wander down an alley and end up wherever it is real Arya’s hiding out.  Stabbed one will take off his Arya face and it’s Jaqen.  He’ll tell her he paid for passage on whatever ship for her the next morning and go into the whole “the goal wasn’t really to become no one” bit.  She’ll ask who stabbed him and he’ll say Walda of house Frey or something and either he’ll say more or she’ll put together that the waif is walda and go kill her after Jaqen dies in her arms.  BOOM.

If Jaquen lets himself get killed by that f'ing waif I will burn ish down.

Couldn't A Man just dance around for a second and then run out the door like Curly from the Three Stooges?  IIRC, Trant never said he killed Syrio.
Or pick up one of the ~4 swords that were on the ground all around him from the Lannister soldiers he knocked out.

IMO the "Arya was actually Jaquen during last weeks stabbing" theory makes the most sense. Watched that scene again yesterday at lunch with a coworker, and there are definitely numerous things that are "off" with how she acts.
Eh, I disagree. I don't think anything she did was too out of character for her.

Sure he would. Would he admit he was beaten by a man with a wooden sword? He already disarmed the other guys. And like the Hound mentioned, Meryn Trant sucked.

"There's a shadow behind the Waif.  That... my god, that's Renly Baratheon's music!!!  And he has a Valyrian Steel chair!!  What a shocking turn of events here at the Valar Morghulis Dome in Braavos!"

Couldn't Man in Blue just be an extra that sticks out cuz he's not dressed in earth tones?
I thought that, but he's the only one in blue.  He appears in a ton of shots and there is a specific casting call for him.  Probably all a coincidence, but it's fun to think about.

I'm developing a theory that the Faceless men are white walkers in disguise.  Think about it.   When's the last time you heard one of them refer to each other by name?  Never.  The white walkers don't have names.  The other evidence is that if you were a race of beings that didnt like humans and had the opportunity to go under disguise to cause mayhem, wouldnt it make sense to go undercover as a guild of assassins slowly killing off the people you hate, thinning the herd before the invasion?  That's concrete proof right there, but I'm still fleshing this theory out.

very strong theory found on reddit...

I think Arya knew she would get shanked and wanted to make a show for the waif-that she would die, badly. Having seen the play she knew stage blood would not get the desired effect. Using that knowledge she stuffed her attire with the famous westerosi hamster. The waif thinks she's managed to slip a knife into guts but little did she know it was all hamster guts. The real twist is that Arya is not actually a girl at all (never has been) and thus has no name already-she's simply been a pile of hamsters wearing a girls face. The show foreshadowed this nicely-you'll notice in seasons 1-3, and 5 that no one speaks directly to Arya. They cannot see her, they see only hamsters. The final test of the faceless men is spotting piles of hamsters disguised as humans-a trick employed by nobles to avoid assassinations. The waif has failed and she will die.

GRRM telegraphed this in ACOK, as Syrio says to Ned "why would I try to teach a mound of hamsters stuffed in clothes like some crooked scarecrow how to fight swords good?" Furthermore, the Stark Sigil is actually a hamster with concentric diamonds signifying a big group of hamsters. If R+L = Hamster then Jon may have trouble with legitimizing his rule in season 7 if he's half hamster.

What if Syrio was Jaquen.
I said this a year or two ago in one of these threads.  I'm not searching, but I still believe that.  And what better way to get out of Kings Landing is on a Jail Car headed for the wall.  Quite brilliant actually.

Theon and Yara has taken the place of Victarion from the books. There is no way that Yara can marry Dany because there would be no heirs produced. You might think that Theon also not produce heirs. If Theon is a Victarion parallel, he received a burnt body part. Theon will receive a burnt penis, but Dany is the only woman who can handle it because of her immunity to heat.

So, I'll say it.

Arya's storyline has been #### for 3 seasons now. Terrible.

Everything else rules so hard.
Really downhill after her laughing when she found out her aunt was dead.

Why not show the Arya/Waif fight at least? Could have at least left Bravos after a badass sword fight.

The spoiler I posted earlier in the thread has been spot on - the person had clearly seen the entire season.

Still to come n the next two episodes:

Jon Snow wins the Battle of the Bastards

Rickon is killed by Ramsey in front of Snow just prior to the battle.

Davos discovers that Shireen was burned at the stake.

Ramsey survives the battle and is held captive by Snow.

Tommen dies by jumping out a window.  no info if he is helped.  No word on if Cersei is killed this season.  Tommen presumably dies in episode 10, so I assume she lives.  Seems like they are setting up Jamie to kill her for what she has put their kids through.

Bran reaches the wall and has another vision at the Tower of Joy.  We see Lyana whisper something to Ned, then we see the baby, then we see Jon.

What rumor did Cersei have investigated? That varys was a molester?
I thought it might be some dirt on The High Sparrow.....but I think it could also be that the rumors of Tyrion's wherabouts finally reached her.  IIRC, this past episode they reminded us of the fact that Cersei still wants him dead.

Yes, I'm afraid those who feared that the House of Black and White was just a place to stash Arya until the rest of the pieces were in place for the endgame have been proven correct.  I also have no idea what the Riverlands storyline is supposed to accomplish.

Because it was in pitch black darkness.
Yah, I get that, just wish it was done differently.  Also she definitely seemed to be letting on how bad her injuries were, she seemed to recover pretty quickly right before cutting the candle.  Turns up her acting out of character was just bad writing, and she really was just caught off guard.  I don't think she was ever meant to be a Faceless Man.  Jaqen even alludes to it when he gives her the coin.  "You have many names, if you want to learn how to check them off, blah blah," or something along those lines.  Guess his whole plan for her was merely to gain more confidence and own that she really is Arya Stark instead of trying to run away from it.

Such an Anti-Theory episode.  Cleganebowl, Lady Stonehart (Lem Lemoncloak + hanging had some thinking it was foreshadowing her) and Arya/Jaqen/Syrio/Fightclub all debunked. Guess just shows sometimes the most obvious and easiest explanation is where it's at.
