Heaps injury (1 Viewer)

Kinda sad how Heap's career has turned out. The guy had/has all the skill in the world - but he is NEVER healthy and when he gets into a game or two between dings, the guy plays on a putrid offense.

I remember drafting him as a rookie out of A State, and he did very nicely for me that year... only knew of him because I am a fan of the Ravens (Giants first, for those that may be confused). But since then, its been injury after injury interupted by terrible QB play in a running offense that doesnt score.

The putrid offense hasn't prevented him from being a perennial top 5 tight end. When he's played full seasons, he's had some very good years. Not exactly Gates or Gonzo-like in their primes, but those kind of expectations are too high.

As mentioned, the only real issue with Heap, of course, is staying healthy.

Heap a game-day call, but expected to play

Despite an extremely limited week of practice, Todd Heap (hamstring) is expected to start on Monday night against the Steelers.

Heap will officially be a game-time decision, but the odds of him playing against Pittsburgh appear to be better than 50-50. Unless you own Heath Miller or have faith in Quinn Sypniewski (Daniel Wilcox is out), however, Heap might be a fantasy play to avoid. The tight end position is deep this season and there are safer options playing in Sunday games. Nov. 3 - 11:42 am et

Todd Heap-TE-Ravens Nov. 3 - 7:44 pm et

Todd Heap (questionable, hamstring) returned to practice for the Ravens on Saturday and is expected to start in Week 9.

We won't know for sure until before game time Monday night, but the signs point to Heap being active. Whether he'll make it through the entire game remains to be seen, but we'd wait for him if you can grab Quinn Sypniewski at the last minute. Heap's matchup is good and indications are he'll play.

well, we might as well start up the watch for week 10. or should we?
Guessing what color baseball cap he'll be wearing on the sidelines this week will be more fun....white, purple, black?
Sad that it has come to this. Still, he has a moderately favorable playoff schedule (IND, SEA, MIA), and I don't think owners in most TE-required leagues who burned a middle rounder on the guy have the heart to cut him outright. At least I don't. That said, I'm carrying three TE at this point (Heap, Daniels, and Scheffler), which is ridiculous, and Heap looks the most like dead weight.

Can you move him and go forward with OD and TS ?

I can move him alright...to the waiver wire. Trade deadline is up, and I'd get nothing for him anyhow.

I cut him and picked him back up during the bye week, but I'm not necessarily counting on him ever getting back in the line up. But I don't want to risk giving someone else a top-notched TE if he comes back. So I carry him as dead weight and watch Heath Miller play.

I've cut him in both leagues, was a pretty easy decesion in one, with 15 or 16 roster spots no use for a bum TE who is questionable every week

Any word on how close he is to returning? I'm ultra-close to dropping him. I looked back at last year's stats, and in standard PPR he was the #3 TE. Hard to just drop him though in a TE-required league. I have Olsen back now after his bye so I'll start him this week. Anyone heard anything more? He must be close since he was a GTD.

The problem is even if he starts this week he'll probably get re-injured on the first series and leave the game. I just hope he plays since I have Daniels on a bye.

For the three of us that still care: (from Rotoworld)

Todd Heap (hamstring) was limited again at Ravens practice Thursday.

The Ravens expect Heap to play Sunday against the Bengals. It seems likely that he'll either return to full work or be called probable on Friday.

The safe play if you have another option is to see if Heap can make it through a game and produce before putting him back in your lineup...if you don't have another option....then you take a gamble on Heap...thats why they call it gambling...you might hit it big....you might get a big goose egg....Me....Heap sits this week....

I cut him before the bye week and will not look back. I don't like spending allot of time on the TE position. I need someone I can plug in every week.

Same for me - I'm sitting Heap (also have Cooley) until I see him make it through a game, and will risk the chance that he goes off. Would be nice if he cut put together a nice run in the second half of the season.

I'll give him the start if he plays over olsen and scheffler in two different leagues. have to see how he does today in practice.

I tend to agree with this. If he puts in a full practice today, he's a start. Otherwise, I'm also going with Scheffler.

Do you have a mandatory TE league? I ask because in my 12 team, TE required, even with his injuries, a name like Heap would get snapped up pretty quickly.

Ditto. Heap sits for Vernon Davis until Heap proves he can play an entire game.

agreed, he could come up big during playoff time and end up beating you.

Some good news!

Todd Heap (hamstring) has been upgraded to probable for Week 10.

After being limited Wednesday and Thursday, Heap went through all phases of Ravens practice Friday. He has a marvelous matchup against Cincinnati.

So true. I think I'm going to roll the dice and go with him, given the weakness of the Bengal D. The Ravens are probably going to make a concerted effort to get the ball a little further downfield after the Monday night debacle, and Heap could benefit from that.

Ironic, that V Davis is being utilized to compensate for another's health/abiltity to play.

Yeah. I was hoping he'd be getting into game shape right about now. Instead, he's probably going to be limited all week and slow on Sunday.

It just never ends with this guy. At this point, I wish they would shut him down for 2-3 more weeks so there would be some hope that he could go in the fantasy playoffs. But, as you said, he'll likely wind up being limited at best for the rest of the season.

My T. Heap experience this season could be a damn Lifetime movie: "T. Heap is Killing Me, and I Deserve It: The Analog Hiss Story."

This week is the trade deadline, so I gotta find a way to acquire a better TE prospect for the rest of the season. The TE position is killing me this season. 6-4 with 930 points for and 941 points against.

I have a shot at LJ Smith on waivers this week...shoulda nabbed him last week and just cut Heap loose.

I am dumping him outright. Been playing Tony Scheffler for weeks now. Heap is just sitting on my bench, taking up space.

I know it was a bad call and all but my team would be undefeated if Heap hadn't drawn that Offensive PI call Week One against the Bengals which negated his TD.

Ditto here. Hung on to him through the bye and thought it was going to pay off. Now I realize it's a never ending situation. I'm going to opt for LJ and hope someone doesn't grab him first. Let someone else pick up Heap and deal with the headache.
