Heath Miller owners -- check in (1 Viewer)

When is the last time a TE scored an 87-yard TD??? I'm wondering if it's ever happened before.
I was only half-listening when they addressed that after the game. The last time a TE had a TD that long was in 1972 or 1974 by, I believe, Richard Caster. Now I'm thinking of e-mailing every other owner to see what I can get for Miller. :D

Are you starting him tonight with the putrid Charlie Batch in for Ben at QB? :XIf not, who are you benching him in favor of? I'm sticking with Miller, as my only other option is Denver's Tony Scheffler. I think the kid has a lot of potential, but he's not getting into my starting lineup until he shows it to me in a real game.Let's Play Some Ball..... :banned:
I might be in the same league as you :bag: whos your starting qb this week?

Did you not see Miller's play last year...he is capable of big plays...

I have him as a WR and will have no qualms about playing him when DJax goes down and Lee Evans is a bust.

It's a 1 WR/1 TE team with the rest being fill-ins.

I don't know. But I'm facing Heath Miller in BOTH my FF leagues. The whole thing, including Saban's non-challenge, makes it hard not to be bummed before my year has even started. :(
Yea, it really ticked me off. I'm facing him in one of my leagues. It's like I know I'm going to lose by less than six points now all because Saban didn't get the challenge off earlier. Or at the very least throw it like he has a sack.

I am lovin' it. Only had Heath going tonite, and he starts me off with 19 points.

And, no, I don't blame the refs. Saban throws like a girl!

yeah i benched him...agh!

but i still have heap...colston, and vernon....more than likely it will be heap...

i hope he makes me look smart...

charlie 'flippin' batch...unbelievable...and to think i thought he was rascist by not throwing to heath last season...lol

explain please? batch is actually a pretty stand-up guy, does alot for the local inner city community (recently distributed backbacks to lower S.E.S. kids). its pretty common knowledge to most, but he is a hometown boy(steel valley high school).racist isnt really a cool word to throw around.-biz-

i agree - batch a racsist is just silly and you should be ashamed of such a comment - would your mom like to hear you talk such nonsense??

the look in his eyes as he played was pure excitement - not scared - but full realization of what he was supposed to do -

whoever called that play was brilliant...

I started Houshmanzadeh over Miller in a league where TE's get 1pt/5yds & WR's get 1pt/10yds.

Miller would have started me out with 27 points. :wall: :wall: :bag:  :sadbanana:

I just traded for Miller yesterday and promptly started him tonight :)

Only problem is that I also played against him in one league. Oh the bane of multiple leagues!!

I traded him in one league to a guy I play, and in another league benched him for Shockey.

But who'd have predicted 3 catches, one for 87 yards and not a TD but awarded it as one ?

I was considering working a deal to trade Gonzalez for Miller, but after tonight I see that deal won't go threw. :wall:

I played against him too. Don't worry about it. The season is long and you still could come back and win this week anyway. It's way to early to be bummed... football is back!!

If you sat him, then your the perfect example of a owner who "overthinks" his roster decisions.
:goodposting:
im not sure about that. if you have heap/shockey/gates as your #1, do you still play miller? i do, but i like having guys to watch, especially after the layoff. if you have miller/troupe or miller/LJ, then maybe its overthinking.id hate to think my personal dilemma of heap/watson will come down to "overthinking", but its practically a lock that i start the wrong guy.-biz-

In my league, the guy that started Miller was rewarded with 33 friggin points. Modified scoring for TEs since they are used as the flex. That guy is easily on his way to 1-0.

Wow.

Calls get blown all the time that result in "false" TDs...so I subtract nothing from Miller's performance last night.

Miller is a play maker. It was easy to see how much of a factor he'd be last year, so if this is a surprise to you, you need to watch more football.

87 yards and a cloud of dust!

He tops 800 and 10 TDs this year.....

I am high on Miller but I would look to move him immediately if someone wants to hand over Gonzalez, Heap or Shockey.

He only had three targets. He happened to make the three receptions and took one for 87 yards, but the Steelers showed exactly what they are, a run-first team.

Miller might get some extra looks at the goal line with Bettis gone, but I would want to see my TE get a lot more than three targets per game. There is a danger he could become the next Bubba Franks if he continues to get so few opportunities. Eight TEs had over 100 targets last year, while Miller had just 52. The Steelers' scheme is not ideally suited to produce a stud at TE.

Yep, I would definitely look to sell high, targeting any top TEs that have a bad game this week.

This is insanity!Good Lord.... guys talking about wishing they had started Miller over The Big Three..... guys talking about wanting to trade Gonzo for Miller. C'mon, people... get a grip. :loco:

Before the "touchdown," he had exactly 12 yards receiving. It should not have been a touchdown, and Saban admitted that it was a big time blown coverage on the play. Hell, I actually thought about starting Tony Scheffler over Miller for a little while.

Reality check, please.

I guess I really will shop Miller around now, given all of this overreaction.

OK, take away the touchdown.....90+ yards.....seems like #1TE production to me!

90 a week * 16 games = damn good

The point is...you can't say "take away" anything. It's in the books, done. Take away Favre's 29 ints last year and he was great! Take away Hines Ward TD last night and he stunk! Take away Ronnie's 2 TDs and he sucked.

Even without the TD Miller was the leading WR of both teams. You don't need 100 catches to produce. All he's got to do is maximize the opportunities he gets. Example 1 - 87 YARDS TO DA HOUSE!

You and every other person. I mean come on... even a squirrel finds a nut once in a while.I received an email this morning in one of my leagues..."Miller Available for the right price..... Anyone need at top 5 TE. Lets talk trade"Guppy move IMO. Ill give ya a half eaten bag of cool ranch doritos for miller.

When did I say to "take away" anything? All I said was, "before the touchdown, he had exactly 12 yards receiving", meaning:

- He evidently wasn't a big part of the gameplan, and the big play was the result of one of the worst blown coverages you'll ever see. Can you count on that happening every week?

By saying that, you in effect took away everything POST the 2 catches for 12 yards.I definitely saw Batch look his way 3-4 times prior to the 87 yarder. Plus Batch is NOT Big Ben. Big Ben knows where Miller is at all times. PLUS Miami was getting through the Pitt line early, so thye started keeping Miller in as a blocker.

All I'm saying is...the guy is on the #2 TE Tier as every other TE (Shockey, Heap, Gonzo...etc) EXCEPT GATES! Gates is the first passing option which puts him above the rest.

my bad..i was tired...cut a brother some slack...heath, heap...only two letters different..

i was just kidding btw...last year i had big money as well...and every game batch played, he never really threw to big money...vs. the packers 2 catches 11 yards, vs. cleveland, no catches, so it was only 2 games batch really played...but it was funny last year, between my friends and i....just because no one ever says black people are racist towards white guys...its always the other way around...take this post for example...now i am probably racist...

it was an inside joke...sorry if anyone was affended ..i probably should have given it some more context...seriously, thats not what i was going for..thus the use of 'lol' in my post...please still love me...
