"Hello Green Bay? This is Seattle..." (1 Viewer)

Mike McCarthy made a decent starter out of Aaron Brooks for years too. But later without McCarthy and Brooks out of his system? Not so much.

Flynn was a terrific leader, a championship winner at LSU, who was a better QB than national pundits gave him credit for on the college level. But what has he done as a pro? A great national tv prime time game - which he lost - and rave reviews from camp?

A 1st rounder is what a team should pay for a guaranteed lock at starter for years to come. Hasselbeck was parted of an exchange of picks (not directly traded for a pick). Favre was a 33 pick who got traded for a 19 pick the next year, Holmgren knowing he had a 1st round quality player.

Overpaying for backup QB's who have either not proven themselves in the pros or who in this day age did not rate equivalently in college is probably a good way to kill a franchise, especially when 1st round picks are involved.

Hello Brett, you saved Minnesota from more Tavaris, please spread the love in the great Northwest. Sidney wants you back too.

Thanks,

Coach Carroll

And to think, it maybe could have been avoided if they just drafted Mallet, who, IMO is the best qb of the class.Fwiw, I think the call should also be made. Also to NE. I doubt they would part with Mallet, but Hoyer is a good prospect too and a second in 2012 might get that done.Or better yet, Just go with whitehurst, who they already overpaid to get.
There was too much worry over the cocaine rumors and his ints. Noone ever doubted Mallets arm

In the first round sure.In the second before they traded their pick away?I think its worth the risk.

Why people don't give Flynn more credit is beyond me. Guy wins a national championship at the college level and is knocked for his arm strength coming out. Green Bay picks him up in the 7th round after they had already picked up Brian Brohm in the 2nd that same year. As a 7th round pick, he beat out a 2nd rounder as the top back up to Rodgers. When Rodgers gets hurt last year, he steps in and comes very close to beating the Patriots in their own house in a prime time game. I think that's worth something, considering that the Packers have somewhat of a timing passing offense and Flynn obviously doesn't get the reps Rodgers does.

I'm not saying he's Tom Brady, but their career paths are somewhat similar. By comparison, what has Luck done? Broke a record held by John Elway and...Steve Stenstrom. Sure he may have a stronger arm, but I think Accuracy and the ability to perform under fire are more important to a quarterback and I think Flynn is ahead of Luck at this point. If I were Seattle I'd make the call (even though it's probably too late in the season), and I'd hate to see him go as a Packers fan, just like I did with Hasselbeck.

I don't think GB trades him for anything less than a 1st right now.

They are Super Bowl contenders to repeat...if they lose Rodgers for 3-4 games late in the year or in a playoff game. Flynn has shown the ability to help out in that type of scenario. I don't think Harrell is ready just yet.

But get ready, he will be the next next hot QB to be trade bait in another year or 2.

The Pack will have to use the Franchise Tag on Flynn next season if they want to extort his full trade value. I can't see a reason Flynn would re-sign with the Pack if he wants to be a starting QB.

Are you kidding me? Luck is the most polished QB prospect(and still has this season to develop) since Peyton Manning.

We heard the same thing about Bradford, Ryan....whatever. He hasn't really done anything yet.
