Help Diagnose My Illness (1 Viewer)

Last night around midnight, I was violently ill. An hour later, I vomited again this time throwing up bile. 30 minutes after that, it happened again for the third and last time. Throughout the rest of the night, i had diarrhea every hour or so and a fever.

IMO, the most likely cause is a cold or flu that I caught from my son who had similar symptoms over the weekend.

However, I was prescribed Colchicine for gout and I took that medicine Saturday night around 7pm. The side effects for the drug are listed here and are very similar to the symptoms I exhibited last night. Is there any way the side effects could take ~53 hours after the last dose to appear?

That it took until post #5 to diagnose ball cancer is an indication of the waning effectiveness of the FFA :(

I have minor flare ups of gout and have Colchine prescribed for it. The Colchine, which is pretty effective for my gout, gives me major poops anywhere from 24-36 hours later, and can last for another half day. I've never thrown up because of it. The worst I had it was the first time though, so it could be contributing to what you have. I also took one too many the first time because I misunderstood my Doc.

But it sounds like what you got is probably from your son.

I think I can help you out here. You need to go down to Walgreens, pick up some Vagisil, and use the entire bottle.

There is a stomach bug going around right now. For most it's a ~24 hour thing but for a smaller group (my son and a coworker or two) it lingered off and on for several.

The fever makes me think you had a virus.
I agree.

Another poster from another board said this:

For an acute attack of gout colchicine is to be taken every hour until the attack abates or you throw up (.6mg). Colchicine wont have effects 72 hours later unless you overdosed. Likely GI virus (esp if there was a fever) or Staph food poisoning(self limiting)
