Help Getting Going for 2008 (1 Viewer)

Hi guys, I just signed up today. First post. :lmao: I'm newer to FF but excited. I'm hoping you guys have enough patience to help me out. I haven't paid much attention to the offseason moves and such, need to get some insights and would appreciate some help organizing my thoughts.

I did play in a league last year so I'm not totally lost, I do have some experience and had a great time. I thought the best place to start getting the blood circulating again are with new starters and guys fighting for open QB/RB/WR/TE jobs on the teams and early projections and such to get an idea of the hotspots to pay attention to.

Another thing that would help is I've been invited to join a PPR league. I've never done this before but have been reading up on some articles the last couple of days. If anybody has played a PPR league last year with .1pt per yard, 6 pts per TD, and 1 pt per reception, if you would be so kind as to cut and paste the scoring for RB/WR/TEs it'd give me a base to crunch numbers and begin thinking of things.

Anything else you think would be good to know, I'd be interested to hear.

This is a great site and thanks in advance for any help folks give.

Welcome to Footballguys.

Here is a link to one of my leagues, PPR, 4 points per passing TD.

Link to league

Here is a link to PPR rankings by the FBG staff. They are free until mid July.

Link to PPR rankings

I also suggest browsing through the posts here. These message boards are frequented by the best collection of fantasy football minds anywhere.

Thanks AB, sounds like just the sort of thing to get started. On my way to check stuff out right now.

Read, research, research, research. Don't start doing your homework the night before your draft. Don't be afraid to take some chances, but don't reach either. It's fantasy football, not brain surgery. Have fun and good luck!

Best thing I would suggest is just to read through the first few pages of threads here. And if there is a specific player or topic you're looking for use the "Search function" up in the top right hand corner.Good luck, and enjoy!

Check out the Draft Dominator program available for free (updtes will require a subscription) it will crunch all the number you need and can be modified to fit your scoring system and roster requirements. I was in your shoes last year and that program helped me a ton.

Welcome aboard! I've suscribed to fbg's for the past several years but these forums >>>> the subscription. Read the threads - there's a lot of quality that gets discussed here in the offseason. I learn about strategy, scoring systems, sleepers and more just from reading the Shark Pool. It's by far the best fantasy football forum there is.

Read the articles.

All of them.

From years past.

Form your own opinions (fun part)

May I suggest the subscription, sir.

You might get some longlasting insight.

Just one won't get you addicted...

You'll be able to quit anytime you want...

Ask yourself "why?"

Why do you value one player so high? Is it because he is on your favorite team?

Why do you want to make this trade? Are you panicking?

Why are you considering cutting that WR? Is it a kneejerk reaction to a bad week and a negative article you read?

Follow the suggestions already made and get prepared by researching. Once that happens and you have a solid foundation of knowledge to work off then don't be afraid to really investigate why you are doing what you are doing. Make sure the decisions aren't based on emotion, but intellect.

Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of fantasy football.

If you find a poster in here that you like, I suggest you go to the search menu. You can type in the login of that poster, pick "titles only", maybe go back 90 days and you will find a lot of really good threads with a ton of info in them. That might take you a couple weeks right there.

Also, if you yourself want to start a thread on a player, odds are there are at least 5 of them already so again try using the search and then see if you can come up with a different angle on that player.

Welcome to the FBG Shark pool, you're gonna have a blast in here.

Honda=Repeat thread

Have fun

FBG's subscription is worth it. but the best place on the net for FF info is the shark pool.
