HELP--Trade Deadline Suggestions... (1 Viewer)

I've been running my league since 1999 and we've always had the trade deadline set for the week the playoffs start (Kickoff of Wk 14) and have never had any troubles with that...Well, last year we had an issue come up over a trade in the last week just before the deadline...Involved future draft choices and one player (Rudi Johnson)...Long story short, it caused controversy for my league and now I'm looking to implement something new...Ideas or suggestions from the boardies?

We always have our deadline week 10, playoffs start week 15 for us. It is far enough away to prevent people from trying to claim "collusion".

deadline is right before kickoff of the first thursday game.

Be gentle in presenting this rule, people don't like even a hint of being accused of cheating.

I don't mind the teams not making the playoffs being able to trade amongst each other during the playoffs, gives them something to do. Don't like playoff teams in trades though

We use week 10 as the deadline also, out playoffs start week 14.

The key for us is most teams are still in it mathmatically week 10, so you don't have teams "dumping players".

Earlier the better. Week 6 or 7 would be ideal IMO. Depending how many games you play ending the trade deadline at the 50% games played should be the norm, and week 6 is the NFL deadline. No way should 67% or 75% of the games be played before the deadline. Half if not just under half should be every deadline.

Playoffs start week 14, trade deadline is week 11.

Our league usually has it set up that all trades are made, including the "veto waiting period", in time for them to be effective for Thanksgiving Day games.

We have used week 10 but pushed it up to week 9.

We also implemented a 25 dollar a week high point winner that keeps everyone hoping to recoup some of 100 buck fee and 5 buck FA fee if not in playoffs.
