HERD's NFL Mock Draft - Version 2.0 (1 Viewer)

This is exactly why I think a Cleveland/Minny trade is feasible. Regardless of whether they are interested in WR or RB, Minny has to be concerned that the hated Bears may take their guy.
If anything, we WANT the Bears to pick ahead of us. This ensures we are not the ones to take the dud.

7. Minnesota - Cedric Benson - RB - UTexasnsin

18. Minnesota - Dan Cody - DE - OU

17. Minnesota - Matt Jones - WR - Ark
That a way Colin, this is looking much better. However, I would really like to see Minnesota take Erasmus with their #17 pick. Can you work on that, maybe hedge your feelings about Erasmus just a hair?
I think Cody is a more solid performer. I tend to like Dlinemen that just won't quit, which is an apt way to describe Cody.Colin
Colin, what is your take on Roth and whether he would be able to stand up to the punishment of a 3-4 DE?
I like Roth, and part of me hopes if the Titans take someone on offense in round 1 (Barron :X , Williams, a RB?) that they'll take a DE in round 2 and Roth would be a solid selection. As far as 3-4? Eh....don't count me convinced. How many really good, playmaking 3-4 DEs are there in the NFL? A handful at best. MOst are just there to clog lanes and tie up the O-line. THat doesn't sound like something that would cater to Roth's strengths.

Roth, like Pollack, would be better as a 3-4 OLB than a 3-4 DE... That said, a DE like Marcus Spears or Chris Canty would be a much better fit as a 3-4 DE and might be better off going to a team where they'd be used in that capacity as opposed to playing DE in a 4-3.. Spears might be asked to move inside in a 4-3 which doesn't cater to his strengths.Roth and Pollack are better pass rushers and playmakers and would be overmatched against the run if they were to be in a 3-4 as a DE. Both are gifted players but just like any player.. coaches need to put them in positions to get the most out of them. Think Kevin Greene.

Hey Bob,I see your logic but personally think Roth would be completely overmatched as a 3-4 OLB; he's WAY WAY too stiff. Obviously as a rush OLB, he would potentially be fine (although I'm not sure he's fast enough off the edge for that either) but he would be an absolute train wreck in space.

Agreed.. for the record I absolutely love Pollack's game and think he might be the kind of player that could pull IT off.. IT being the ability to play a 4-3 end, 3-4 pass-rushing LB, or in a nutshell.. be a Tedy Bruschi if he were to land in a situation like New England. If he's not the perfect player for BB than I'm not sure who would be. Roth reminds me a little of another guy who was hell on wheels at the combine and Senior Bowl, but never made much of an impact in the pros due to injuries.. Will Overstreet. Not saying the two are the same, but their games are similar.

Colin, if the draft goes as you've projected who do you want the Titans to take at 6? Benson? Rolle?
I WANT them to trade down and take Rolle or Carlos Rogers in the teens and use the extra pick(s) to grab some good-not-great O-linemen like Whitworth. If they stay put, I want them to take Carnell Williams to improve the return game and offer a COMPLIMENT (not competition) for Brown.

I believe that for the TiTans to win with their current crew they need to have the ball in the hands of game-breakers. THere aren't many on the roster right now. I have made my case repeatedly about how Carnell's talents dove-tail nicely with what Brown can offer. It would be a FF nightmare, but would really help the offense in my opinion.

If they insist on taking a corner, I want it to be Rolle. I don't see Jones or Rolle as shutdown guys - Jones doesn't have the size, Rolle doesnt have the speed. But I think you can do more with Rolle in zone schemes and in the redzone, I'll take size and the heavy hitter every time.

But I still think they should take Carnell. I am probably the only person in the world who thinks so, but I'm convinced he'd be the best pick for them.
