Hey Dallas fans, looks like we got ourselves a QB! (1 Viewer)

The Cowboys (with Romo) will represent the N.F.C. in the Super Bowl...BANK IT.
I believe the Bears might disagree...and you don't want to make them angry. For Cowboy fans (et. al.) who aren't paying attention, the Bears beat the snot out of the Vikings, who pulled their starting QB after the worst performance of his CAREER, knocked out the second QB and won easily on a day when their own starting QB completed 6 passes for 34 yards and 3 picks. When Romo can beat a good team on the road (which he will have to do in the playoffs), then I'll be impressed. Dallas has a QB - so far that seems to be true, but to not fear the Bears is simply silly. All week the Vikings talked about how they weren't afraid of the Bears...as did the Giants, the Jets, the Seahawks, etc. I can certainly see a spot for optimism for Cowboy fans, but to not be the least bit concerned about a 10-2 team...well, we'll see in January - when it will be even colder in Soldier Field. :football:

OK, so who's the Bears QB? And don't compare this team to the Ravens SuperBowl team, at least their QB managed a good game. You cannot get there on Defense alone.

I have to agree with NJ OAK here, no offense to all Bears fans. Gonna be tough to advance & then win the Superbowl without at least a modicum of offense & Sexxy Rexxy sure ain't providing that. Now if Rex comes out of his funk & again plays like he did at the beginning of the year, game, set & match to the Bears.

You are correct Big Score. Super bowl berth all depends on REX.

I don't fear the Bears. They'll lose at home in the first game and Seattle will be coming to Dallas in the third round.

Bears are a non-factor. You can't have one of the 2 or 3 worst QBs in the league and win playoff games. It just doesn't happen. I don't give a #### how good your defense is.

I think any competent team would've beaten the Bears yesterday. Half the teams in the AFC would've kindly thanked Grossman for all the giveaways and turned them into 13-20 points.Chicago will struggle to win against good teams (read: not the NFC North or the rest of their remaining weak schedule) that can score consistently on the short field. You can't depend on 2 defensive/special teams touchdowns every game to win it for you.

And I'd just like to say that I continue to be impressed with Romo's grittiness in the 2nd half and mainly the 4th quarter. The stats weren't gaudy, but he made the throws he had to make when it counted. The deep seam to Witten was a perfectly thrown ball while avoiding the rush.

If Bledsoe is in the game yesterday Dallas loses by 3 touchdowns. You can no longer blitz the 5-7 step drop against the Cowboys and expect to succeed.

That said, Romo still makes some questionable throws (don't all QBs) and he was very fortunate on the out to Crayton on the final drive.

I can only hope that other NFC teams are as over-confident as you seem to be. Unless, of course, this strong talk by Cowboy fans is only to reassure themselves. There is only 1 team in the NFC that is 8-0 against the NFC - the Bears. Also, one might want to keep in mind that there are only 3 teams in the NFC with winning records on the road - the Saints at 4-2, the Cowboys, who with the last second 40+ yarder from Gramatica snuck by the Giants 23-20 are at 4-3, and the Bears who are 5-1 away from Soldier Field. The Seahawks, whom you sight as beating the Bears in Chicago in January are 3-3 on the road - including their 37-6 loss to the afore mentioned Bears. And those that would berate the Bears and their "easy schedule", a few points:1) The opponenets that the Bears have lost to have a combined record of 14-10 (the teams that have beaten the Cowboys are a combined 22-25) The Bears have defeated the 8-4 Seahawks, the Giants (who were 6-2 at the time), and shutout the Jets, in NY. 2) You can only play the teams on your schedule - which the Bears have done as well as any team in the NFL (better than any save for the Colts and Chargers).3) The Bears haven't actually gotten to the "easy" part of their schedule yet. They still "get" to play Detroit, Green Bay, Tampa and St. Louis. I realize that even if they run the table, some will insist that it was a "weak" 14-2, as going 14-2 in the NFL is done by even mediocre teams. [/sarcasm]4) All of this was/will likely be done with Rex Grossman as their QB.I certainly agree that winning playoff games with a QB who insists on throwing 3-4 picks a game will be difficult, if not impossible. I also would suggest that the game plan the Bears will employ come playoff time will look more like the one they used against the Giants and Jets, thus limiting Grossman's ability to negatively affect the team's field position. You see, the problem for teams visiting Soldier Field in January will not be how to stop Rex and the offense, but how to actually put together a long drive against the Bears defense in temperatures below freezing, which is why the issue for the Bears is not turning the ball over. I certainly mean no disrespect to Romo - what he has done recently has been impressive - even if you factor in the fact that it has been done against defenses whose overall ranks are 25th, 29th, 15th, 18th and 16th. 6 games, most would agree, is hardly enough to automatically assume greatness. I certainly think the Cowboys are the biggest threat to the Bears going to the Super Bowl - however many "experts" were saying the same thing about the Giants until they went into their tail spin (which began with the loss to the Bears, btw). I can't (and won't) make a prediction about who the Bears will beat and how. I will say this: if the Bear's QB (whoever it is) has 2 or fewer turnovers in any playoff game, the Bears will beat whoever they are playing, wherever they are playing. I admit, that's not exactly going out on a limb, as the Bears defense has created 2+ turnovers in every single game they've played, meaning that they would likely win the turnover battle.

The Bears will lose to St. Louis in the dome this week. Just a strong hunch.

Dallas is going to host the NFC Championship. The Bears will be gone by then.

Tiebreaker will be huge in the NFC. Right now of the three 8-4 teams the Saints would get the #2 seed. Since Dallas has their two most difficult remaining games against NFC teams and the Seahawks have the Chargers, advantage Seahawks. Since it goes to the conference record tiebreaker the best NFC record will come into play. If Dallas and Seattle tie it's more likely the Seahawks will have the better NFC record (both teams have three losses now). I think I actually want the Cowboys to beat the Saints this week because N.O is 7-1 in the NFC. But the Saints have to go to New York and get Carolina at home in the final two weeks so I might have to rethink that. Whatever the case I don't want Seattle to be the 4th seed. Let someone else go to Chicago first.

If the Seahawks D plays at all solid, they will win in Chicago. If Dallas gets by NO, they run the table IMO and get the 2 seed, as Seattle will lose one more.who knows though.A healthy Giants team could beat Seattle in Seattle.

Did you watch the game earlier this year? That was essentially without Alexander and the Hawks crushed them. Also I think Dallas will lose at Atlanta so the Seahawks will have to lose two. I have no idea what happens if they both lose to an NFC team or at all from here. I think it goes to points and Dallas would have the advantage but I'm not certain about that.

That's great and all, but I really don't see the Bears in the NFC Championship. This has all the markings of the flameout 2001 team or whatever team that was. And having the home field has been choppy at best for predicting the eventual super bowl. IIRC there hasn't been two 1 seeds make it this decade.

You sir, are wise beyond my ability to compliment for being as such. I do agree that home field advantage will play a large roll this year, as most of the NFC teams (Saints & Bears being exceptions) have been fair at best on the road. I also think weather (be it in Chicago or Seattle) could be a big factor if/when those two teams end up hosting a playoff game.

And having the home field has been choppy at best for predicting the eventual super bowl. IIRC there hasn't been two 1 seeds make it this decade.
You are correct...to a point. While it's true that in the last 7 years a SuperBowl where both teams had home field throught their respective playoffs has been rare, the fact is that at least one of the two SuperBowl teams had homefield advantage throughout the playoffs EVERY year for the past 7. I'm no math genius but that would mean that over 50% of the time, a team that that has homefield advantage makes it to the SuperBowl. To be sure, home field advantage is not the only factor in determining who is victorious in a football game, but there is an interesting stat or two:

1) Out of 32 NFL teams, only 6 have losing records at home.

2) Conversely (which I guess stands to reason) 18 of 32 teams have losing records on the road.

3) In the NFC, only 3 teams have a winning record on the road...and all 3 lead their divisions.

4) Of the 3 10-2 teams (the Bears, Chargers and Colts), who obviously have 6 losses combined, 5 of their 6 losses have been on the road.

My point is simply that, while I agree, playing at home certainly doesn't gaurantee a win, it seems to be a much larger factor than some think.

Since 1995

0 - Times both 1 seeds played

1 - Time neither 1 seed played

So the one seed has less than a 50% shot of making it. Drastically worse than the regular season.

What that means I have no idea.
