Hey FBG management! (1 Viewer)

Can we again address the topic of amnesty for those who have been banned?

Every spring my thoughts turn to rebirth. As the sleepy coat of winter is shed and the earth itself comes back to life. Everywhere we turn we see bright flowers, birds engaging in elaborate courting rituals, new born and reborn life surrounds us. Color returns to the world, the fresh air inflates our frozen lungs and empowers us to dream of what is to come.

The NFL itself this year is embracing this with its own changes. Gone is the labor dispute, gone are the old ways of bounties and intentioanl injuries. Peyton Manning has joined John Elway to bring football greatness back to the sky. Even the godless jets have turned over a new leaf embracing the power of positivity in Timothy Tebow.

Is it too much to ask for our brothers who have failed to be given their second chance? Is forgiveness somehow viewed as weakness? It should not be. Indeed we are all sinners, yet our lord forgives us. Shouldn't we try to be like him? Shouldn't the Lord of this board consider redemption for those he has banished?

I beg of you Joe, on behalf of those who have done wrong and seen the error of their ways. Give them amnesty! Tear down the banned list and start fresh with the assumption that people have learned and will play well. Give them the chance and they may just surprise you. It is what Tebow would do. It is what Jesus would do. I have faith it is what you will do also.

Thank you for your time, that you for this board, and thank you for what I am sure will be careful consideration of the mercy for which I have asked.

Raptors and Tebow be with you

- B-deep

Waldman, Bloom, and Cecil seem to be blowing up and moving on to bigger and better things, which is great for them. I don't think it's any accident that the dynasty content has suffered for it, however.

Also, JB, my God -> please have the way you look for dynasty rankings fixed. The fact that you have to open up a link that, by default, MAKES you look for Overall Rankings within the past 7 days is RIDICULOUS. You have to then click one by one until you get to 90 days or whatever, and only THEN do you get access to the dropdown menus to actually search for what you want. If I want to go look at overall WR rankings I have to have like 38 clicks. And yes, I know you can just change the number in the address bar, but seriously, it's like something a 15 year old would design. The most updated rankings should just come up, and you should immediately be brought to a screen with the dropdwn menus.

Thanks for changing the homepage picture. Looks good. And I think the FBG staff will get the rest of the concerns worked out. I've got faith.
:lmao:I'll never get the people here."Change that picture!! Those cheating, bounty-paying SOBs don't deserve to be highlighted on your forum.""Oh, but I dig the picture of the guy charged with the Class D felony. Now we know how he got so high in the picture. Neat!"
What type of picture do you expect from this group? :-) One that fits something more pure would not be a good fit.
Then don't piss and moan about the Saints picture. It's football. It's not spin the bottle and play grabass with the neighbor girl.

On the one hand, I'm sorry you feel that way. We work hard and it is very challenging to find things that are new and interesting. We like the challenge, but that doesnt mean all of our work is awesome. On the other hand, there is nothing we can do about 2011. All I know to tell you is that we do listen to the community and try to create content that is helpful, entertaining, and valuable. None us mail it in and we want to exceed your expectations. I hope that is worth something but understand if it isn't. Just know that wr are all acutely aware that nothing is a given and every subscriber is valuable. We are doing our best.
personaly I think you should stop trying to find things that are new and interesting, And just do the basics again . If you can get the basics right again,( rankings ect.) then you can try to do more. It seems you just dont care what we are asking for, and that is what you promised to provide in the first place. if this was my company, all of you would be working on your dynasty rankings NOW
:goodposting: I wholeheartedly agree. It seems that the focus has changed from providing quality content to providing things that are new and interesting. I would prefer that FBG guys focus on providing quality information on a timely basis rather than providing a new gadget. As someone stated in this thread earlier, 80% of the users here probably don't have an ipad yet FBGs is focused on bringing out an ipad application. Yet 100% of the users here are interested in fantasy football information. Focus on that.
Thanks King Prawn. I don't disagree at all that we have to focus on the basics. It's easy to see the obvious things people want like updated rankings and cheatsheets and projections and such. We hear you loud and clear. The iPad application actually helps with that. Because we have some earlier than normal deadlines for the iPad App, the App has forced us to be more diligent in putting together a detailed plan on when features are coming out and who is going to do them. Dynasty content is going to be a part of the iPad so what is featured there will also be featured on the website. The iPad is actually helping get this content out quicker as it's forcing us to stick to a summer schedule we don't always have. It's also important to understand the manpower. Creating the iPad magazine is Doug Drinen and Keith Overton. They are not doing dynasty rankings. Doug and Keith are creating the venue where guys like Sigmund Bloom, Jeff Tefertiller, Jeff Pasquino, Matt Waldman, Andrew Garda, Anthony Borberly and others will display their rankings. But whether folks use the iPad app or not, the net effect is the content for the website will be out more quickly as we have deadlines to hit for the iPad. It's just another way to display the fantasy football information, including dynasty content those guys are creating. Again, I don't blame folks for asking us to show them. Give us a season and let us show you what we can do there.J
J , I am willing to give you a chance , but as i see it , you have dissapointed me for at least two seasons. IMO If you want to show me you can improve . you should do it on your dime. if you take care of my membership this year, i will pay again next year when all you claim, comes to pass.
We have a money back guarantee that goes through the end of September. For you I'll extend it to November 1. If by November 1 you don't feel like we've covered dynasty like we said we would, I'll refund your money for the 2012 subscription. Hope you'll give us a shot.J
J , this is not the first time we have had a exchange over your dynasty content, In last years thread you promised to get your guys on track , It didnt happen. alot of the same ideas where offerd it that thread, that are being offerd now. I understand your hesitancy. That's why I made the offer to extend the money back guarantee to November 1 for you. If by November 1, you feel we haven't covered the dynasty like we said we would, I'll refund your money for the 2012 subscription. Thanks and good luck this season no matter which way you go with the subscription.J

I agree we need to make that view differently. Am I understanding you correctly that you'd like to see it is for the default view to be something with a longer timeframe? One thing one has to consider is that the rankings are sorted as an overall average. So you have to be careful that you don't skew the overall by including an old and out of date ranking. For instance, something like a 300 day window is pretty useless as so much has changed. On the flip side, you have to have enough guys posting current rankings to be relevant. Maybe something like making the default more like 30 days? What do you think?J

If you're most recent rankings go back 90 days, for example, then that goes back to the problem that your staff isn't updating the content in a timely fashion at all. Back to the question here.... when a user clicks on any rankings it needs to display data and not tell them that no rankings have been submitted in XX number of days. You can dynamically determine how many days that is based on the last database update of those rankings. That might only show one person's rankings but you could also determine that the last set of rankings were 17 days ago and add a week to it and display 24 days.

Sure wish the Miami Dolphins' front office allowed this kind of access.I've posted this before but the boards only represent a small portion of the FBG customer base...many subscribers have been members since the beginning and never create a log in, don't know who Otis, Shuke, and GM are, have no idea that Chase was Jets94, never heard of an MOP, or the other 100-200 core posters in the off season that make up the Shark Pool. You can say the website is outdated although I don't see what the issue is, they have apps for the IPhones, deveoping for the IPad...someone said only 20% of us have one...I bet the number of FBG subscribers that can use an app on either a iPhone or iPad is pretty significant and probably gives them an edge in the thinking ahead department while many are pounding on them that they are stuck in the dark ages. Good of Joe to field questions, he doesn't hide behind a desk like Jeff Ireland!!!
I know who Otis, Shuke, and GM are. What's a MOP?

Ah, I like that dynamic default idea. Let me get with the guys and see what's doable. Thanks for the help and idea. :hifive:J

Well, if rankings are going to be updated every 30 days, sure. The bottom line is you should click on a link, and something should come up. I would think 30 days would not be too much of a burden on your staffers, I mean they don't have to completely redo rankings every 30 days, just tweak stuff. If there's someone doing rankings who hasn't updated in, say, 90 days, is there really a point having that person included at all? 90 days is a lifetime in the NFL, think of how this league looked 90 days ago. The people doing the rankings should have a certain cutoff, and the tool/navigation should be designed to work in conjunction with that.

Hesitant? No I am Dissapointed and Mad. Where was your money back offer last year when you, by your own admission, failed? every time one of these threads pop up , You stop by to " put out the fire" But a money back guarantee is only as good as the word of the man who is offering it. Last year you gave your word to get the rakings back on track, and again by your own admission you didnt get that done. We Pay for information, if your not going to provide it, what are we paying for? I would like for you to explain to me why you dont feel, you owe me a season.

Hi longshot,We have a money back guarantee that runs through the end of September. That gives people a chance to see the whole summer of premium content and then about four weeks of the regular season to see if they feel the subscription is worth the $28. We feel that's a reasonable amount of time. Will we hit every goal we set out to do? Certainly not. But the customer gets to decide whether it's worth the money. To my knowledge, we have paid every single person that requested a refund by September 30. In your case, I've offered to make a special exception for this year extending the guarantee to November 1 to see if we're able to hit the goals for dynasty we're laying out. I hope you'll give us a shot but if not, I understand and I hope you have a great season this year.J

And yes, I know you can just change the number in the address bar, but seriously, it's like something a 15 year old would design. The most updated rankings should just come up, and you should immediately be brought to a screen with the dropdwn menus.
Cool. Doug is working on making a change there. I really like the dynamic idea, let me see what we can do there.J

Free agent tracker going any time soon? Also depth charts

are a little "off". Example is Seattle WR's -Mike Williams is not the #2

He might even be the #4 behind Golden Tate/Ben Obomanu.

Buffalo WR's Donald Jones(who?) ahead of David Nelson.

I'm not that concerned about rankings until August when things aren't

a best guess.

Yes. Working on FA Piece now. Also BIG upgrade for depth charts coming soon that I've wanted for years. Stay tuned.J

Nice, I think the depth charts should reflect the rankings.

I don't think any of the staffers would have M Williams

getting moe production then D Baldwin.

Can we again address the topic of amnesty for those who have been banned?Every spring my thoughts turn to rebirth. Shouldn't the Lord of this board consider redemption for those he has banished?I beg of you Joe, on behalf of those who have done wrong and seen the error of their ways. Give them amnesty! Tear down the banned list and start fresh with the assumption that people have learned and will play well. Give them the chance and they may just surprise you. It is what Tebow would do. It is what Jesus would do. I have faith it is what you will do also.Thank you for your time, that you for this board, and thank you for what I am sure will be careful consideration of the mercy for which I have asked.Raptors and Tebow be with you- B-deep#amnestyNOW
I was going to post this in the FFA...everyone deserves a 2nd chance. The problem is Joe and crew have given a lot of 2nd chances, 3rd chances, typically posters are not permabanned for their 1st offense. They could also get a new log in and simply follow the rules of the board.

Please. Try to have something that makes a condensed printing possible.
Hi BigSteel,I don't want this to be a guessing game so I'll go ahead and say. The plan is to add Offensive Line Depth Charts this year. We've never done them in the past because we honestly didn't feel we could do them well enough. But we've hired Matt Bitonti of www.draftdaddy.com and he'll be our OL expert. Very excited as I've wanted OL depth charts for years. Not sure about the printing - I'll ask our guys to look at that.J

Joe (since this thread seemed to have evolved into an "Ask Joe" Thread):

I hear you about the IPAD apps that you are planning for this year...how about some Android love? Will we be included as well? :)

Thank you. But as fantasy players in bigger/deeper leagues, often times depth charts that are markable at your draft are very handy. But having it strewn over 8+ pages (at 4 per page) is simply unrealistic. If it could be condensed (for the fantasy positions incl idp) down to 4 printable pages, that would be marvelous.

Hi gandalas,I'm an Android fan and love my Droid Bionic. Unfortunately, on tablets, they're still getting murdered by iPad. But like the phones, I expect them to catch up on the tablets. Bottom line is yes, we're absolutely factoring in quickly being able to port what we do with the iPad app over to both iPhone and then Android Phone and then Android Tablet in that priority. We have to follow the market for tablets and right now, that's overwhelmingly iPad. But we're planning and building this thing so we can quickly move to Android next.J

I have another suggestion, since that what this thread basically has become. :lmao:

One of the features I really like is the MyFBG thing where you can look at projections for the week and all of your players in a certain league are highlighted and all free agents in that league are highlighted in another color. It would be cool if we had this for dynasty rankings. I'm in a lot of league, and if there's like a WR dynasty-ranked around WR57, it'd be cool to be able to see on the MyFBG screen if he's available in that league (and then I can check other leagues at MyFBG as well). This beats having to go around to all my leagues and searching for the player. This would be especially useful for IDP rankings since, you know, like which DB's are rostered in several leagues may vary widely.

Just a though if it's not too hard to do, would be really useful.

I do what I want!

While we're on the topic of changes, I think the Draft Dominator could use a little love in the update department as well. For example, there is currently no way to separate out ILB/OLB, DT/DE or CB/S, even though your projections on the web site have this option. I'd imagine it would be a fairly easy fix (I recall seeing a workaround a couple of years ago) and this would definitely help out those who play those type of IDP leagues.

I mentioned this last year, but it bears repeating. In order to maintain updated dynasty rankings, it would be great if there were 4-5 staff members who were required to update their rankings every 4-5 weeks, but scheduled so that each week only ONE of them would be required to update. That way each individual would only have to update their rankings once a month during the season (4-5 times total), but some of the rankings would always be current.

I was really disappointed in the lack of updated rankings last season, and while I've subscribed for the last 5 years I may not next year if it plays out the same way.
