I think FBG's likes their website looking crappy and out-dated in general, so I don't see this changing.
We have some new things on tap that will blow your mind. This year is going to be awesome.
Really? Isn't this what was being touted last year? And the year before that?I'm curious to know what you think is going to be so groundbreaking? Last year, it was obvious nobody had his heart in it to write the articles, make deadlines, update rankings. From a consumer perspective (not all consumers, but plenty who agreed with me), last year seemed like a chore for the staff. The content was so shoddy, I finally just asked to discontinue my subscription mid-season because it was useless getting any decent content; was getting much better returns elsewhere. So, I'm cautiously intrigued. I'd be happy to spend my money here...this has been my subscription home for the past 5-6 years. The one thing that keeps me coming back is Waldman and his RSP, which is the best football product ever created. But, I'd like to learn more about what's in store, because I just assumed I would get the RSP ala carte and go elsewhere for more useful data, tools, and insights.
Hi Longshot,What Abraham is talking about is our iPad magazine. We're really excited about it.And yes, changing the Favre pic is something we need to do. Thanks.J
Im Glad your excited about it, and i hope its everything you think it will be even though %80 of us dont have ipads. all I am asking for is updated dynasty ranking that very rarely are updated by even one stafer
Thanks. We've clearly failed in the past but trying to put attention toward dynasty is something we're aiming for this year. Agreed we failed there.J
I would love to take your word for it , but given your recent track record, I think were are all going to have to see it to believe it.

 Don't want to pile on because I'm generally pretty happy with the subscription content, but I really hope we don't have to wait 8 months for a dynasty ranking update! I'm going to be looking for something current in about 2 months. TIA.

Thanks for changing the homepage picture. Looks good. And I think the FBG staff will get the rest of the concerns worked out. I've got faith.

I went from a 3-year to a single year last spring because I was tired of articles vanishing from the list and the lack of updated rankings. You curtly telling someone to check back in 8 months for dynasty content put me over the edge to not renewing.Sorry J.

I think the 8 month comment is about looking back to evaluate how we do this year in total, not that there won't be improvements til then. To each his own...

This is exactly my point. Every time there is any sort of response, it's about how things will get better, or a lesson was learned, or there is something earth-shattering coming. And then......it's the same old. Articles go missing with no explanation, deadlines gets missed, etc.I really think some of the contributors to this site are top-notch. I just think the attitude the past couple of years is that the machine is too big to fail and the desire and passion has died. Maybe it's all the side endeavors. Or maybe it's just my passion. I don't know, but it's not the same place I started subscribing to years ago.

On the one hand, I'm sorry you feel that way. We work hard and it is very challenging to find things that are new and interesting. We like the challenge, but that doesnt mean all of our work is awesome.

On the other hand, there is nothing we can do about 2011. All I know to tell you is that we do listen to the community and try to create content that is helpful, entertaining, and valuable. None us mail it in and we want to exceed your expectations. I hope that is worth something but understand if it isn't. Just know that wr are all acutely aware that nothing is a given and every subscriber is valuable.

We are doing our best.

personaly I think you should stop trying to find things that are new and interesting, And just do the basics again . If you can get the basics right again,( rankings ect.) then you can try to do more. It seems you just dont care what we are asking for, and that is what you promised to provide in the first place. if this was my company, all of you would be working on your dynasty rankings NOW

Sorry if that wasn't clear. The plan right now is for Dynasty content to start updating in June. As I said, we're trying to put attention toward dynasty this year. The reader said he didn't trust me so the only thing I can do is show him. 8 months from now, it'll be November and we will have had almost a full season under the belt and enough time to judge how we did. I don't blame him at all for asking me to show him what we can do. J

:goodposting: I wholeheartedly agree. It seems that the focus has changed from providing quality content to providing things that are new and interesting. I would prefer that FBG guys focus on providing quality information on a timely basis rather than providing a new gadget. As someone stated in this thread earlier, 80% of the users here probably don't have an ipad yet FBGs is focused on bringing out an ipad application. Yet 100% of the users here are interested in fantasy football information. Focus on that.

Thanks King Prawn. I don't disagree at all that we have to focus on the basics. It's easy to see the obvious things people want like updated rankings and cheatsheets and projections and such. We hear you loud and clear. The iPad application actually helps with that. Because we have some earlier than normal deadlines for the iPad App, the App has forced us to be more diligent in putting together a detailed plan on when features are coming out and who is going to do them. Dynasty content is going to be a part of the iPad so what is featured there will also be featured on the website. The iPad is actually helping get this content out quicker as it's forcing us to stick to a summer schedule we don't always have. It's also important to understand the manpower. Creating the iPad magazine is Doug Drinen and Keith Overton. They are not doing dynasty rankings. Doug and Keith are creating the venue where guys like Sigmund Bloom, Jeff Tefertiller, Jeff Pasquino, Matt Waldman, Andrew Garda, Anthony Borberly and others will display their rankings. But whether folks use the iPad app or not, the net effect is the content for the website will be out more quickly as we have deadlines to hit for the iPad. It's just another way to display the fantasy football information, including dynasty content those guys are creating. Again, I don't blame folks for asking us to show them. Give us a season and let us show you what we can do there.J

Joe part of the problem is Dynasty Fantasy Football Owners (Like myself) are not patient by any sense of the word. We are a like a 3 yr old in an Ice Cream Shop that want it now not later. So just ignore us somewhat and we will just learn to be more patient.

PS

I'm a Dynasty Owner in 2 (32 Team Leagues)

I do agree with some of the guys on this board that have complained about not getting more regular on updated Dynasty Rankings. (While we aren't ignorant to the fact that it is a big task. I think FGB should have at least 2-3 Staff members have Updated Dynasty Rankings every 3 to 4 months tops. So in a given year 4 times there should be 2 to 3 staff members with updated Dynasty Rankings) I think that is realistic.

Hope you can do that for us J.

Appreciate all you guys do.

Just to be clear are you saying it's unlikely we'll see significant dynasty content until June? Realize that some drafts happen sooner and of course trades will start in and around the April NFL Draft. I know the staff of course wants an offseason but there really isn't one for dynasty football!

This is a twisting of the truth... three years ago, he took 3 year subscriptions, then last year in year 2 removed a product that was prepaid and never returned that money portion to the multi-year subscribers. Instead, the response was an ultimatum to lose that portion of year 2 and 3 or that you would get no content at all. If you prepaid and had use of some of the content, then the option was to lose the useful content or pay for content that you will not get unless you paid for it a second time.

J , I am willing to give you a chance , but as i see it , you have dissapointed me for at least two seasons. IMO If you want to show me you can improve . you should do it on your dime. if you take care of my membership this year, i will pay again next year when all you claim, comes to pass.
We have a money back guarantee that goes through the end of September. For you I'll extend it to November 1. If by November 1 you don't feel like we've covered dynasty like we said we would, I'll refund your money for the 2012 subscription. Hope you'll give us a shot.J

fyi...J has always had a money back guarantee if not satisfied. Unless that has changed, you should antee up now and ask for a refund if they don't meet you expectations.
Please explain this to me like I can't understand what you just stated. TIA.
At one point, Matt Waldman's RSP report was part of the subscription. Two years ago, it became a stand alone product so Matt could charge what he deserves to for the RSP. It's now a $20 report and worth every penny. For the guys that had a multi year subscription that did not want to continue their subscription, we offered a refund for the remaining years of their subscription that were unused. They were presumably satisfied with the subscription they had used. But we wanted to make sure they had a way to exit the three year subscription and not pay for anything they didn't want to continue with on the multi year subscription if they became dissatisfied. I'm not sure if that was the right way to handle or not but that's what we felt was fair. 3 year subscriptions present a problem like that. If we add something really cool next year, it would be unfair to go back and charge the 3 year guys more. If we drop a feature and people are not satisfied with the new product, it seemed fair to refund their money for any future subscription they no longer felt satisfied with.J

No, it wasn't the right way to handle it. You gave the 3 year subscribers several choices, none of them being satisfactory IMO: 1) Get a full refund and get no content at all. 2) Not pay the additional fee for the RSP and get the remaining content, but be unhappy that a feature that was supposed to be included was not (the route I chose). 3) Pay an additional amount for the RSP, which was supposed to be included in the original subscription. What should have been done was to give the 3 year subscribers everything they thought they had paid for - not a bunch of equally dissatisfying altenatives. And no, I don't think this is the same as if the feature was dropped entirely, that happens all the time with publications, it was the extra charge that is the sticking point.

As a hypothetical, you could do the same thing with something else. Let's say you decide to make the cheatsheets a stand alone product and charge $2 extra for that. If we have an advance subscription but don't want to pay the additional amount, an advance subscriber would again be faced with three bad choices: discontinue the subscription entirely, continue without something that was promised, or pay extra for something one thought was already paid for.

Needless to say I will never purchase an advance subscription again and this entire experience with the RSP has made me question whether I will continue at all beyond the 2012 expiration date of my subscription (that will probably turn on whether the regular dynasty rankings are delivered by November as promised).

I don't want to hijack - and I almost feel a little odd commenting as this never affected me at all, but as an objective observer, the fair thing to do is give the multi-year subscribers what they had signed up for (which happened to include the RSP). :shrug:Does Matt deserve to be paid sor the RSP? Sure. But changing the terms of an agreement after people have paid for a service is called "bait & switch" - even if you offer a full refund. That said, what's done is done. I guess the lesson is not to sign a multi-year subscription, knowing that FBG might change the terms as they see fit.

Thanks for sharing your viewpoint. I believe I hear what you're saying and appreciate you taking the time to help me understand your point. One quick thing (and I think you see it this way - just wanted to be sure) - The plan is to deliver tons of dynasty content this year. The reader earlier said he didn't want to take my word and wanted to see it and I just threw out November as a date far enough out there to say let's judge there to see how we did.

User of the sight and boards for over a decade, no complaints here. Keep up the good work. Excited to see what the iPad app looks like. Hopefully it includes some type of DD component.
Hi slap,Thanks. The iPad doesn't have the power to handle all the super complexities of the Draft Dominator. BUT much of this past weekend was spent with our developer guys working hard on a drafting tool within the iPad that will be by far, the best drafting tool available for iPad in our opinion. And on top of that, we're working on ways to make using the Draft Dominator from your iPad as it accesses your PC. That remote access technology is getting really good, fast and reliable and it's something we want to help our guys with who what want a full blown DD experience on the iPad. We actually had it for some of the drafts last year but it wasn't ready to really be endorsed for full use. I'm not positive how the remote access thing will work but it's something we want to try and be able to help our guys do.J

Just to be clear are you saying it's unlikely we'll see significant dynasty content until June? Realize that some drafts happen sooner and of course trades will start in and around the April NFL Draft. I know the staff of course wants an offseason but there really isn't one for dynasty football!
Hi Ariakis,We're still working on the schedule. I'd much prefer something way way earlier but I'm also very cognizant I want to be able to deliver whatever I say here. Let me work on it with the guys and we'll have a better idea of the schedule soon. I know we can crush this segment with the right focus.J

Yes, I interpreted it that way, that by November we will know whether you delivered on the promise for more extensive dynasty content for the season. I too would like to see monthly dynasty rankings by several staff members year round. I am in 3 leagues that have year round trading and have felt hindered in last month having to make trades based solely on my own rankings and what little I could glean from the off-season trade thread.

Cool. I agree year round is optimal. I don't want to promise that yet but I fully see the need there. Thanks. J

Joe, how many guys are on staff? Maybe have a rotation where 3/4 do the "offseason shift" each year. They'd then only have to do this once every couple of years...

Sure wish the Miami Dolphins' front office allowed this kind of access.

I've posted this before but the boards only represent a small portion of the FBG customer base...many subscribers have been members since the beginning and never create a log in, don't know who Otis, Shuke, and GM are, have no idea that Chase was Jets94, never heard of an MOP, or the other 100-200 core posters in the off season that make up the Shark Pool.

You can say the website is outdated although I don't see what the issue is, they have apps for the IPhones, deveoping for the IPad...someone said only 20% of us have one...I bet the number of FBG subscribers that can use an app on either a iPhone or iPad is pretty significant and probably gives them an edge in the thinking ahead department while many are pounding on them that they are stuck in the dark ages.

Good of Joe to field questions, he doesn't hide behind a desk like Jeff Ireland!!!

Let me start by saying a like everything you guys do here. However, one thing I would like to see done is rather than working on new things for the IPAD which I am sure the majority of us don't have, work on existing features. We have asked for a number of changes to the dominator series over the years and it seems like they always fall on deaf ears.

WHOALLY! Is this the gangbang?

Thanks for the great product. I agree with some of the complaining about the dynasty content, but if you remember I think it was Bloom that said he was swamped with the new family obligations. He apologized, offered refunds, said they'd get on the rankings, and things will be better next year. Then the rankings came pretty fast after that from a lot of the contributors. In my eyes that's how you start to make things right. Some people just can't accept an apology and you'll never change that. I'm a, "don't tell me - show me" person, but I feel like the crew has earned a chance to show me.

I was one of the people that paid before the RSP announcement and was a bit upset. That said, it doesn't take a neurosurgeon to see how much work goes into it and is well worth the extra 20. I doubt you'll find anything out there as good for that much or cheaper. Plus, they offered refunds to anyone that wanted one. Asking to be paid back for services rendered because you disagree with the current service is absurd.

Keep up the good work, but you still have to show me something this season!

ETA: The ipad wont have any exclusive content will it? I'd be pissed.

Hi snellman,Running Footballguys is fun and frustrating at the same time as we have a limited ability to create all that we want. If you polled our readers, you'd have a zillion different things that would the individual person would think is super cool but others wouldn't care that much for. We're all like that, myself included. So what I have to do is try and best determine what is needed most in what area and also importantly keeping an eye on the future. I will say that I spoke to Bruce Henderson this weekend about upgrading some things on the Draft Dominator. We can't do everything people want but there are some things we know we need to do. I would love to see it include Dynasty for instance but I don't see that being possible for this season. I do see upping some of the IDP functionality and kick return stuff for this year. I can't promise that but that's what we're looking at. For the iPad, it's a case of different people doing different things. Doug working on the iPad doesn't keep something from happening on the Draft Dominator. We also are looking hard to future. And the numbers might surprise you. For instance, more of our readers own a tablet (Ipad / Android tablet / Kindle Fire) than play in dynasty leagues as their primary league. It's actually a bigger market than some think and as the owner, I have to be responsive to things.I hear you for sure on Draft Dominator. Truthfully, I try to hear everyone. I know I won't ever make everyone happy but I'll try to be upfront and honest about giving it our best shot to do the best we can there for our customers and also for our company.Thanks.J

Hey Joe,Just a suggestion - so take it for what it's worth.I understand this is the "offseason" so staffers want to relax a bit. But in dynasty, there really is no offseason. People are working on trades all the time - before the NFL draft, right after, and all the way up to the new season (and during it). Maybe someone is considering trading a rookie pick of theirs for a player. Maybe someone else is not even looking at rookie picks and just focusing on a players only trade. Point is - no offseason in dynasty. So waiting til June (as I believe I read earlier in this thread) is already a bad start. But again, I understand that staffers don't want to be "on the clock" all the time - especially in March. So here is my suggestion:You have several staffers that do dynasty rankings, right? Sig, Waldman, Garda, Jeff, Jeff, etc. Would it be too much to ask for them to just update their dynasty rankings once a month in the months of Feb, Mar, Apr, May, and June? I am guessing, although I could be wrong, that they probably wouldn't mind having to update only once a month. It's just that each of these months something happens that changes the values of players. In the last week, the values of Manning, Tamme, Clark, D.Thomas, J.Thomas, Decker, etc all changed - simply due to Manning joining Denver. Then due to that, Dressen goes to Den, Tebow is shipped out, etc - so more values change. Point is - just because it is March, doesn't mean player values do not change. So again, perhaps a 'once a month update' would really help the dynasty rankings out. If 6 different staffers did it each only once a month - then there would be at least a decent set of rankings in place.Anyway, I think it is great that you want to venture out with new apps, new features, etc. But something as simple as updated dynasty rankings would: a) cost you a lot less, b) would barely inconvenience a single staffer per the only 1x/month part, and c) would make many subscribers happy. So essentially = very little downside, in my opinion.

Thanks. We're on the same page here. Again, I've learned my lesson about promising something until I know I can do it for sure but what you're saying is what I'm looking at. Should have more soon.J

I'll add to what others before me have stated and express my appreciation to Joe for reading and responding to criticisms, both constructive and otherwise. As a long-time subscriber, I think that's one of the biggest differences between FBG and other sites.

Keep up the good work!

I agree. Unfortunately, Joe and FBG believe a "bait & switch" is an ethical practice. With all of the unethical practices going on in FF, I am surprised anyone would fork over the big bucks to this group for some of their high stake leagues. It sure raises red flags. The question isn't whether Matt deserves it... I think most would agree he does... the question is about honoring what was paid in advance. Double charging for it is not ethical, sorry.

I know i have mentioned this previously, but here is a thought that i dont' see a downside to(maybe i am just missing it):

You SURELY have more than 12 staff members. Give each one a month of the year that they HAVE to have dynasty rankings up for. Say Jeff Jan, Bloom Feb, Waldman Mar, etc...... I know some deadlines can't be met, but put that on that particular member to have someone else cover him that month. If bloom can't get to his in Feb, have him make a call to another member and try to swap months. OR.... Maybe have ALL members have them in 4 times a year, Feb, May, Aug, Nov/Dec.

Maybe too simple? Maybe too complex? Too much to ask for? I personally think something can be done to improve the updating of rankings, but just not sure what would fit FBG's and the staffers the best.

Good luck with the process to solve this issue.

Hi Clown,It's really not something I feel good about rotating through the whole staff as some of our guys are much more into Dynasty than others. The answer is getting our Dynasty guys to have more updates and I feel good we can get that going. Should have more info on that soon.J

What type of picture do you expect from this group? :-) One that fits something more pure would not be a good fit.

It seems you just dont care what we are asking for, and that is what you promised to provide in the first place. if this was my company, all of you would be working on your dynasty rankings NOW
:goodposting: I wholeheartedly agree.
J , this is not the first time we have had a exchange over your dynasty content, In last years thread you promised to get your guys on track , It didnt happen. alot of the same ideas where offerd it that thread, that are being offerd now. But nothing was done. I have been a footballguy from the very start. I even used to be proud of it.I think my first # was 117,now im just one of the nameless sheep. I understand you have enough subscribers that you could care less if i return or not. But its been just too little too late. How long do you expect us to keep coming back dissapointed?
