Historically speaking, best time to trade (1 Viewer)

I'm curious when you sharks think is the best time to trade an aging RB on your dynasty team. The obvious response is "after a big game" but I'm thinking more about what time of the year to offer him up to the league. Would you likely get more value closer to the trade deadline, and offer up the RB to a team making a playoff push or who's contending for a title? If you were wanting rookie draft picks to rebuild, what do you think a RB like, say Alexander or Edge would fetch?

I just traded SA this past Saturday -- it wasn't that I was actively shopping him because I "knew" my fellow owners wouldn't give me much for him (dynasty). As luck would have it, the owner of a strong team needed a bye week RB and gave me just enough to make it worth while (Hasselbeck, a 08 1st and 011 1st).

Obviously this season has been an aberration with the number of injuries/"busts" that have taken place, but from my recent experience...during the course of the season when other owners are in binds due to injuries/bye weeks are the best time.

So higgins, where in the standings was the team who have you the 2008 1st? That was the other thing I was thinking, that the later I wait, the better idea I have of where that pick may be in the draft order...

The team whose 08 1st I acquired in the trade (different owner) is middle of the pack (16 teams).A few thoughts from my situation:- I desperately needed a somewhat reliable QB for any kind of a playoff run (4-2 entering this week) -- if I waited until my placeholder QB (Lemon :lmao: ) went down, other owners would have demanded I pay a ransom for a starting QB;- Giving away SA made me weaker at RB, but not totally bare -- I still have FWP, and I'm hoping SJackson comes back sooner rather than later);- While SA's value is at an alltime low now, I don't see it getting significantly better. For me, it's not that SA is "done". It's that his line and FB support structure are done, and I wasn't prepared to wait-and-see how that support structure is rebuilt over the next 2 years. I needed to get what I could...and it happened to be a key time for me and a team looking for a bye week RB.SA got me a SB, and I wish him the best -- but, biznesss is bizness.

go find a good team who just lost a piece to the puzzle for the year

caddy, deuce, rbrown(maybe), etc

they will give you more than most teams due to their situation
