Hollywood Cliches - TV and Movie (1 Viewer)

Jumping out of a window and landing in a dumpster. I don't know about you, but that'd be the LAST place I'd want to land. If I'm gonna die, I don't want to do it with a lettuce-covered wine bottle penetrating my rectum.
If you are lucky it's just the tip of the iceberg.

Forgot about this thread.

Probably was said long ago, but protagonist gets into a fight with a bunch of thugs - all the thugs wait patiently for one of their boys to get knocked out - each thug individually and unsuccessfully takes on protagonist - finally one of the beaten-up thugs takes a beer bottle, chair or other blunt object to finally batter the protagonist.

Runaway car going about 100+ MPH sees that he is headed straight towards a car going nearly as fast in the other direction, yet deftly steers out of harm’s way at the last split second.

Not sure it belongs in here, but when they use phone texts to move the plot along... Just seems like a lazy and cheesy storytelling device to me.

Couple walks during a perfectly clear day. One of them mentions rain and the skies magically open up. But in buckets, not a gradual drizzle.

Good one.  Like when  someone is walking in the forrest alone, when they stop to listen, its always a twig snapping and a bird flying away.  EVERY DAMN TIME!

Stock audio.

Somewhat related: victim running away full speed from killer, who is walking at a deliberate, gingerly pace. And yet the killer seems to *gain* ground.

Just caught this one again:

Female characters going to bed and/or waking up with full makeup. Clearly said actress is frightened of being seen au naturel by a TV/movie audience.

Lead actress in a romance always has a sassy/promiscuous friend who would have no common interests or reason to hang with our poor heroine in real life.

Also: the lead actress in a romance is usually highly-educated, with a great job, owns her own house/apartment, and has no kids.

AND YET SHE CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANY MAN WILLING TO GO ON A DATE WITH HER.

When a character has become dependent on pain meds, they take the pill bottle out of their pocket and chug several pills like they are candy. Eventually they take the bottle out and it is empty and get frustrated.

Same with asperin and pepto-bismol when stressed out.

Sound effects for the “speeding” car actually only going 30 mpg.
Every time a car goes around a corner, the tires squeal.
People driving cars are constantly turning the steering wheel from side to side. I guess this creates an illusion of movement, but if anyone tried to do that in real life they'd be swerving all over the road.

College professors are generally drunken, diviorced, and disheveled, but also bond with a brilliant but aimless slacker student.
