Holmgren says daughter, unlike coach, knows fantasy football

Associated Press

Updated: August 15, 2008, 1:44 PM ET

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren says he doesn't know much about fantasy football leagues, now a national obsession and booming industry.

But Calla, one of his four daughters, does.

"My daughter, who's a doctor in Salt Lake City, she captained one of the fantasy teams and then was thrown out of the league because of 'inside information.' But I will say, she was clean," the 60-year-old Holmgren said, chuckling. "It was the appearance.

"She did not phone me about it. And she was very upset about it. But she knows football, as all my girls do."

I heard the Patriots had some videotape and the Packers have phone records that go against Holmgren's assertions

Couch Potato: Hi Calla, I'm phoning about that little Morris vs Jones RBBC thing. When your dad says they'll be sharing carries, what does he REALLY mean? Oh, and what's your take on Taylor vs Obomanu? Just between you and me. :goodposting:

She needs a better class of league, methinks.

'Wait you're THAT Holmgren's daughter? OUT.'

LAME

They didn't like getting schooled by a chick.

She should join ESPN's league next year and do the draft special.

Couch Potato: Hi Calla, CP again. I can live with the Walrus cheeks, but not the 'stache. That's gotta go if we have a chance babe.

Oh my. Was she adopted or what?

Just my luck though... Obstetrics & Gynecology doc. I lived awhile with an OBGYN nurse and she loved to talk about work at the dinner table. I can only imagine conversing with Calla over a plate of spaghetti. :X

CP call her let me know how that goes.
Klecker's link above is where she was previously, but in the original article Mike H says she is in SLC Utah. I called where she is now and got a university medical center message. So I left a message. I gave my name and said the call was for Calla Holmgren, I said I was very sorry to hear that she had to leave her fantasy football league, I said that I am in a number of online leagues and am commissioner for a couple of them, and that if she still would like to be involved this year I would be happy to have her as a team mate in one of my leagues. I gave my phone number and said I look forward to hearing back from her. I was very polite and made no reference to the article or how I knew she had to leave her league.

Should we invite her in over here?

I have mixed feelings about personal contact info up in here...can you imagine the emotion she would have if she came in here and saw an entire thread dedicated to her? Doubt we would get a lot of info from her.

The contact info linked above in Klecker's post is obsolete, and I didn't post the info as to where I actually did call. It is public info however. And I'm serious about inviting her and letting her play FF. All kidding aside, it would suck to be booted from a league just because of your name. I feel bad for that happening to her. The article said she was really upset by it.

BTW, Holmgren's a local Bay Area guy too. He coached HS here before hitting the big time.

Awesome

OK, so less than an hour after my message, my phone rings.

Unfamiliar youngish female voice: "Is this (Couch Potato)?"

Me: "Yes, this is (Couch Potato).'

Unfamiliar youngish female voice: "Hi, how are you doing today?"

Me: "Fine... and you?"

Unfamiliar youngish female voice: "Very good thanks! I'm calling on behalf of blah blah blah credit card company blah blah blah"

Me: "Uh, no thanks."

Click. :football:

If if you're trying to fill a league and that one doesn't pan out try Travis Henry. He's got a boatload of kids. :wall:

Yeah, but unless it is a 16 team league, there may not be enough openings.

Shoulda left the message as Couch Potato - then you'd know for sure it was her returning your call ;)Btw, even though those pics look like she's on a heart-warming humanitarian mission, she's really just doing some extensive scouting for her 2021 draft.-QG
