Home League: 22 years and counting... (1 Viewer)

I have a league that has been going since 1990. It started out as a 12 team work league. We have managed to hold things together through job changes, several people moving away, getting married, etc. It has been a struggle and this year has seemed to be more of a struggle than others. For this year we will be dropping back to a 10 team league with hope that we will return to 12 next season. It is at the point that only about half of the league members were part of the group from the original first few years and we have added friends or coworkers of some of the original owners. I'm not sure how much longer we can or will hold things together but it has been a great run for us. Thurman Thomas was a steal for me that first year.

Another thing that we used to do was listen for the "ding" on Fox when they showed updates for player stats. We could all be in the kitchen grabbing a beer and hear that ding and go running like crazy to the TV so we could see if they showed any updates for our guys.
:goodposting: We used to love this too! The only thing better was when my brother lost like 3 weeks in a row when he had "insurmountable" leads going into the Mon Night game. The most memorable was the night my best friend had only Drew Bennett playing was down like 40 points and Bennett posted that ridiculous 200+ yds and 3 TD game. It was hilarious as we were all jumping all over the room as he threw pillows, glasses and maybe even broke a wall that night. :lmao: This is a story well told by my brother during the after party of every year's draft when we all had a few too many.... :banned: . It's also inevitable that at some point during the draft someone will mutter the name Dreeeeew Beeeeennnettt and we will all errupt with laughter. Well at least 6 of us do.
We had this happen to one of my roommates in 1994ish. He had a HUGE lead over my other roommate, who only had Edgar Bennett (RB GB) left. 3 TDs later...I started in 1993, 16 team IDP with odd yardage (20 rushing, 30 receiving, 40 passing). My first ever pick was Dan Marino...who got hurt in week 5 and was lost for the season. Back then free agents were first come, first served-first to call the commish gets the guy. I was playing flag football and missed the actual injury, I called an hour or two later to claim Scott Mitchell, Marino's backup only to be told by the commish that he himself had claimed him. I joined another league the next year (first pick: Herman Moore) which I am still in to this day. I started my own league later, we are in our 11th year.

Fantasy football, is the best fantasy sport!
While fantasy football is fun, it is not even close to the best fantasy sport...Fantasy Baseball >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fantasy Football
couldn't disagree more.
Well see, then you would be wrong...

This is the 17th year for my main league. We started as a 10 team league back in 1996. We were all Rochester, NY natives and like others back then, the commish got our official stats from USA Today. He would print up copies of the league report for everybody and distribute them when we all went to table team trivia at Hooters on Tuesday nights. We went online in 2001 and expanded to 12 teams in 2002. Six of the original league members have been in the league every year and two other original owners who left at one point are now back in.

18 years for my fantasy football league, but 17 years for our fantasy archery league. That was before the internet, so we had to wait for The Bullseye Quarterly magazine to arrive to update scores.
