Homer Bailey to be called up (1 Viewer)

I wouldn't recommend starting him his first game, but he certainly can help teams in the 2nd half.

Homer Bailey-S- Reds Jun. 3 - 1:39 pm et

The Reds are expected to call up Homer Bailey to make his major league debut Saturday against the Indians.

The club didn't officially announce it, but the choice has already been made, both the Enquirer and the Post believe. Bailey will be facing one of the game's best offenses, so the smart play would be to keep him reserved for his first start up. He should be worth using in NL-only leagues after that, and mixed leaguers will want to keep a close eye on him.

Jesus, I'm actually thinking about dumping Zambrano for him. My back end bench includes guys like Accardo, Bonser, Hennessey and Theriot, but I seem them all having more value now and for the rest of the season than Zambrano. Those K numbers are really a red flag.

I just got him as well. Surprised as this is a deep league and guys in my league are usually on top of this type of info.

Man it would help my team if he was the goods! Have him for $1 in a 4 year keeper league - one good start and I could parlay him into a big time player for the stretch run!

The Reds confirmed that Homer Bailey will make his major league debut Friday.

Bailey will still face the Indians, so it remains a bad first matchup for him. Matt Belisle will start Saturday. He's likely to have NL-only value and could emerge as an option in mixed leagues eventually.

I'm at every game :blackdot: , but definitely more excited for this one. His second start will be at home now also, probably on Thursday against the Angels.

Well, seeing that my staff has been torched this week, I'm starting him, as I have nothing to lose. I'm excited though, I'd like to see what the kid can do!

I agree there too. Plus they wont run him out to the wolves either. If he is getting banged up, expect to see him pulled early.

How does Bailey compare to Lincecum? Better prospect, the same, not as good?
They're both in the same discussion along with Phil Hughes. Coming into the season I would have ranked them Hughes, Bailey, Lincecum.... as of right now I might just completely flip the list
