Wife and I rented it not knowing what to expect. Boy, were we surprised...it was hilarious.

Agree with this, although I was actually a little disappointed with Hot Fuzz.SotD is funnier, but Hot Fuzz is great.

Hot Fuzz drags a bit in the middle but more than makes up for it with the fantastic Gun Battle at the end...Him riding in on his horse like Clint Eastwood is worth watching

You know how Shaun is comedy in the first half, and semi-serious zombie flick in the second half? Well Hot Fuzz is the opposite: Semi-serious cop movie in the first three quarters, fun shoot 'em up in the last quarter.
It was good, but not great. Maybe it'll get better with multiple viewings

Just saw Hotfuzz
Really liked both movies.
Although HotFuzz was about 30 ins too long.
It just seemed that they could taken out a few things and made it a little tighter.
Then the church spire crushes that dudes head...It was just messed up.
Was that the same inside Bar scenes from SofD and Hotfuzz? Was it the Winchester?

I think your funny is broken.
I think you need to see SotD first. A lot of the humor in Fuzz is derived from Shaun.BTW, I loved them both. Even got my non-zombie movie watching wife to watch Shaun and she was busting a gut.Shaun>>Fuzz.

Mrs. Foos and I have never seen Shaun of the Dead and we both liked Hot Fuzz. It was an interesting twist of over the top gore and humor.
Then I would highly recommend Shaun. It would make Hot Fuzz even more funny.

I was getting bored with HotFuzz, but the last 20 minutes of the movie is some of the best stuff I've ever seen. I'm not even sure how to describe it.

My wife and I rented Hot Fuzz a couple of weeks ago, watched with the trivia tracks and with the commentary, bought it last night, and watched it on Cinemax HD On Demand. We think it's hysterical. One of the funnier movies we've seen in a long time. After loving Hot Fuzz, we rented Shaun of the Dead. It was good, but not nearly as good as Hot Fuzz.
One of the Andys: "You know, you see a lot more guns in the country than in the city. Everybody and their mums is packin."
Nick Angel: "Like who?"
One of the Andys: "Farmers."
Nick Angel: "And who else?"
One of the Andys: "Farmers' mums."
The whole thing kills us. Never got slow. Wasn't too long. Dalton was great. Nick Frost was great.
