HOU/BAL game Postponed To Week 10 (1 Viewer)

San Antonio has a dome and hosted some Saints games after Katrina. That would make more sense to me than Atlanta if the facility is available.
Ike's going through San Antonio too.
SA will get some weather, but it's far enough inland that it won't be anything like what Houston sees. Winds should diminish a lot as it moves inland. There isn't any threat of storm surge. It's a domed stadium. San Antonio won't have to evacuate anyone. Now, all the hotels and such may be used up by people evacuating to SA. I would think the Texans would lobby for something closer to home so they wouldn't have to give up the home field advantage entirely. I'm not sure how much say they have in the process, though.
SA is not an option they will consider. Austin is pretty far inland as well and they just rescheduled the Texas vs Arkansas game to Sept. 27th.
Austin's stadium is open air. Totally different situation, imho. The forecast doesn't look too bad to me 30% chance of rain an 12 mph winds... TWC forecast for SAI'm not saying the game will be in San Antonio. I'm just saying that it makes sense to me that they would consider it as an option.

Just out of curiosity...let's say they decide to play the game in SA. How in the world would the ticket situation be handled so late in the game? I just can't even fathom what a monumental mess this would be.
this may be possible. you guys remember when they moved that san diego game to ariozona wihen san diego was on fire?

When San Diego played in AZ a few years ago I believe it was free to go. They collected donation from people coming in to go towards victims of the wild fires.

I dont think they play anywhere in east or central Texas. Potential power outages, wind damage, traffic snarled etc. It does not make any sense to move the game to SA (IMO) as you dont know what effects will be felt there. If you move the game seems you would want to get it out of the region with problem not to where its not as bad.

Yeah, someone had brought that up earlier - as I recall the stadium was more opposing team colors than Chargers - as most Charger fans in SD had bigger things to worry about.Again, this is still not official via the Texans. they haven't decided anythign yet. But I think we all see there are many options that don't involve canceling a game.

What about Lubbock? They have a big stadium. I don't know anything about Texas.. just throwing it out there.

If you have Houston or Baltimore players on your fantasy team, I'm sorry. Not because they cancelled the game. I'm just sorry.

If you limit your fantasy team because of personal biases, then I am sorry for you.

You are right, I'm cutting Andre Johnson and Todd Heap immediately.Actually I'm not starting Andre because Marshall, Calvin and Jennings can handle the laod this week. Olsen can handle Heap's role.

I'm thinking Sirius NFL Radio jumped the gun on this, I have been listening off and on since they announced this and have not heard any other word on it.

They should play the game in New Orleans, and give the city some of the proceeds to make up for the eight lost home games three years ago.

Probably won't happen, but it would be fitting, wouldn't it? New Orleans isn't even that far from Houston (~350 miles

It was a joke. Some people just can't see the forest for the trees.I knew someone out there would cry 'I guess Andre Johnson is not fantasy worthy...' And three did. Like moths to a flame.

This game will be Monday night in Houston. Ike is coming through late Friday/early Saturday. Houston may experience severe weather, but by Monday night the game should be playable at Reliant.

Isn't that the definition of a troll?

This is likely what will happen, however they have no way of knowing the lasting impact lingering into Monday. (widespread power outages very likely)

Well, I thought it was funny. But then I was also in hysterics last year reading three pages of speculation that Ben Roethlisberger had crapped his pants during warmups.

The official announcement from Texans/league will come sometime this afternoon. I have not gotten any hints as to what adjustment will be made other than what's been rumored already in this thread.

I thought it was funny too. I thought the response from the Todd Heap owner was even funnier though. Todd Heap is your shining example of a stud fantasy player from Baltimore? ;)

I'm from Houston and I lived there in 1983 when the last Cat 3/4 hurricane hit the city. There were no widespread power outages then. I grew up about five miles from the Astrodome and don't remember Hurricane Alicia affecting the area around the Dome. Ike will bring high winds and heavy rain, with some power outages possible, but they should be able to get this game in on Monday night. My only concern is potential flooding of nearby Braes Bayou.

If it is moved to Monday Night - I just hope they don't have Mike & Mike & Mike doing the game on TV. Give us Jaws and **** Vermiel for crying out loud.

I know, they can just have a double header later to make it up!?!?!

In all seriousness, the Cubs play the Astros in Houston this weekend and the Cardinals are on the road. The Stadium staff were informed last night that they need to be ready to work this weekend as MLB has asked the Cardinals to host the series if things get too bad to play in Houston. Rams are at home this weekend so I doubt they play it in St. Louis, but the will play it somewhere and it will be played either Sunday or Monday. NO WAY they move it to another week...

Per Baltimore Sun today:

The Ravens could know by the end of today whether Sunday's game at the Houston Texans is going to be altered. Hurricane Ike is expected to hit the Houston area on Saturday, which could cause travel problems for the Ravens. Flights at Houston airports are expected to be disrupted Friday and Saturday. If the Ravens were unable to travel there until Sunday, the NFL likely would consider moving the game to Monday night. A Ravens spokesman said today there has been no speculation as to whether the game would be moved to another day or site. (Baltimore Sun)

Sounds as if they would reschedule for Monday but it's all speculation at this point. I think someone jumped the gun!

Has anyone mentioned that they probably wont cancel the game, they will likely play the game somewhere else Sunday or Monday?

Trust me, this game will be played in Houston. The Texans still say the game is 3:15 Sunday. Worst case scenario is they have to postpone it until Monday night.

I just spoke to Alamodome officials in San Antonio and plans had been discussed earlier in the week about moving the game to San Antonio, but that the Texans had made "other arrangements" for the game.

It better be played here. I bought 4 season tickets and they weren't cheap. How do the teams go about refunding these if they don't play at Reliant?

They can't/won't cancel the game. It's just going to be played at another venue possibly on Monday. The Dallas Morning News was saying yesterday another site in Texas was likely. Since most of the state is effected by the Hurricane the only city in Texas that could really accommodate the game is Dallas. The Cowboys play on Monday night so the stadium is open on Sunday or they could always play in the Cotton Bowl.
phhhhft  Cotton Bowl is a joke.Texas Stadium maybe (Possibly lots of Rain on Sunday! though)

The Cotton Bowl is a joke...I played at SMU and suffered through many a game there.

Personally I have been watching Channels 2, 11 and 13 locally in Houston. They have put nothing on the scroll across the screen about the game or mentioned it.

I would bet that would offer you a rebate off next year's tickets at a rate slightly higher than the value of 4 game tickets for that game....

I think Monday would be the best case scenario, if they plan to play it at Reliant. All indications are the storm with hit late Friday night/early Saturday morning. Given travel for the Ravens, all the delayed flights in and outta Houston etc. I could see the Ravens coming in late Sunday for a Monday night game.
