HOU/BAL game Postponed To Week 10 (1 Viewer)

Are you sure they said canceled? The last thing I saw the two options were moving it to Monday night or playing the game on Sunday in Atlanta.

Just reported on Sirius NFL channel. Game to be played at a later date. I'll be the first selfish ##### to say this; I guess I have to bench AJ this week.

How do we handle this in regards to FF?

They did not name a date, just a date later in the year I think.

I'm not seeing this anywhere. Here are the possibilities:

1) The OP misheard something on the radio.

2) The OP heard it correctly, but the radio host is mistaken or spreading rumor as fact.

3) Some guy on Sirius radio broke the story before anyone else in the world, and the game actually is cancelled.

I could be wrong, but I think #3 is the least likely.

According to the official NFL Media website there is nothing about this. Again, where are you guys hearing this?

edited: nevermind on part 2 - saw that post.

Still you would think the mediawebsite would have something on this prior to Sirius radio.

I can't believe they'd just cancel it. I'd think they'd move it to another city before canceling it. Or postponing it.

The real question is what do stat services do with the games this week? Are fantasy games with players from Houston and Baltimore held open for week 2

until they play the makeup game or not?

No, you're correct, #3 is the least likely.

Officals are evacuating parts of Harris county. I cant believe the NFL/HOU is so slack in addressing this.

FEMA must be making the call LMAO

The teams have different bye weeks(8,10). If they canceled it, they'd have to reschedule multiple games.

listening to the Herd ... he has not mentioned anything yet.

....but when they do I am sure they will claim it....

I can see the game being "cancelled" from Houston but will probably be played at a nuetral location like when they had the wildfires in CA. a year or so back. I can't see the game not being played somewhere this weekend, whether it be on Sunday or moved to Monday.

Ravens board reporting the same Sirius NFL story. I think the person above is right -- game is now cancelled for Houston, but is in the process of being rescheduled somewhere else for Sunday or Monday

I posted earlier that there was speculation the game could be moved to Atlanta on Sunday.

NFL usually just moves games to another site, like when the Chargers had to play in Arizona because of the wildfires. Cancelling doesn't make sense.

This is extremely unlikely. Too many ripples. They will play the game somewhere on Sunday or Monday.
This is the correct answer. They did this when they moved a game to Arizona a few years back.
Right - during the San Diego fires. And they were going to do it again was it last year? When the fires hit again.Good point - despite being covered in ash at one point during it, I totally forgot about that.

San Antonio has a dome and hosted some Saints games after Katrina. That would make more sense to me than Atlanta if the facility is available.

Just looking at schedules…

CURRENT Schedule

CIN has week 8 bye

BAL has week 10 bye

HOU

Week 8 Bye

Week 10 CIN@HOU

POSSIBLY Changed to

Week 8 CIN@HOU

Week 10 BAL@HOU

Cincy gets a Week 10 bye

HOU, BAL get Week TWO bye.

ETA - Just trying to figure out any way they could postpone and limit the number of games changed.

They can't/won't cancel the game. It's just going to be played at another venue possibly on Monday. The Dallas Morning News was saying yesterday another site in Texas was likely. Since most of the state is effected by the Hurricane the only city in Texas that could really accommodate the game is Dallas. The Cowboys play on Monday night so the stadium is open on Sunday or they could always play in the Cotton Bowl.

I just called the Texans.

No decision has been made. That is official. I'll let you know when I hear more but you are talking about rumor. That's OFFICIAL via the Texans.

Ike's going through San Antonio too.
SA will get some weather, but it's far enough inland that it won't be anything like what Houston sees. Winds should diminish a lot as it moves inland. There isn't any threat of storm surge. It's a domed stadium. San Antonio won't have to evacuate anyone. Now, all the hotels and such may be used up by people evacuating to SA. I would think the Texans would lobby for something closer to home so they wouldn't have to give up the home field advantage entirely. I'm not sure how much say they have in the process, though.

Just out of curiosity...let's say they decide to play the game in SA. How in the world would the ticket situation be handled so late in the game? I just can't even fathom what a monumental mess this would be.

SA is not an option they will consider. Austin is pretty far inland as well and they just rescheduled the Texas vs Arkansas game to Sept. 27th.

Actually it would not be that hard to reschedule this to another week. HOU has a bye on week 8 as does CIN. BAL has a bye on week 10 and CIN is at HOU on week 10. They could just give HOU and BAL their bye on week 2, schedule CIN @ HOU on week 8, and schedule BAL @ HOU and give CIN a bye on week 10.

That seems a lot harder to do than moving the game but as a Willis Mcgahee owner that would be sweet to get an extra week of recovery.

Works for me. Call the NFL! :goodposting:

:goodposting: This makes a lot more sense [and seems a lot more fair] than playing at some neutral site this week IMO
