Okay, fair, but the bold then is still where I have a gripe with the writers as the scene itself didn't give me the impression of the bold at all. Again, she accomplished some significant success and had at least one to arguably two chances to bail. That's a win and you head back to live to fight another day even as an old warrior because that's still what's best for your side. I just don't believe an "old warrior" dies for almost selfish reasons simply because she felt it her time.I read the scene as Rhaenrys being an old warrior who knew who her time had come and threw all in on an off chance of ending this war right now even though death was a high probability. Her look of resignation was apt for the occasion.
Now, if she was severely wounded or she needed to sacrifice herself to let the black army get away without being entirely demolished or something, then the bold makes sense. But that wasn't how the scene was written.
I don't think she was severely wounded but it looked to me as though her dragon may have been severely wounded before the final attack. Maybe she knew her dragon couldn't recover from the battle and decided that the best course of action was to try to take out Aemond while she still had a chance.
