Houston Texans forever - Mixon to miss at least first four games (5 Viewers)

Several Texans starters did not practice Tuesday.

Among them were defensive ends Will Anderson Jr. and Jonathan Greenard, defensive tackles Sheldon Rankins and Maliek Collins, left tackle Laremy Tunsil, wide receivers Robert Woods and Noah Brown and fullback Andrew Beck.

The fact that those players missed practice doesn’t necessarily mean they will miss the game. Tunsil, Rankins and Woods, in particular, normally miss the first practice of the week.

The biggest question mark is Greenard, who missed last week with an ankle injury.

Fant has played 15 games for the Texans, starting 13. In 892 snaps, he has allowed three sacks, been whistled for three penalties, allowed four quarterback hits and allowed 29 pressures.

Fant is in his first year with the Texans after spending the previous three with the Jets. According to Pro Football Focus, the seventh-year veteran grades at 64.6 among all tackles this season, placing him 47th. He grades 71.0 as a pass blocker, which ranks him 31st among all tackles.

According to the Pro Football Focus grading system, Fant ranks third on the Texans’ O-line behind Tunsil (74.1) and guard Shaq Mason (66.0).

Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil was named a starter for the 2024 Pro Bowl on Wednesday, the NFL announced.

Six other Texans players were named Pro Bowl alternates: defensive end Will Anderson Jr. (first), cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. (first), quarterback C.J. Stroud (second), fullback Andrew Beck (second), wide receiver Nico Collins (fourth) and defensive end Jonathan Greenard (fifth).

Great to see the Texans getting recognition around the league. Been a good decade or so.

Of the above list, Tunsil practiced but was limited. The rest didn't practice.

Greenard was so huge for IDP this year. It hurt not having him in the championship game for Week 17. He's in a contract year and he's been credited with being an excellent run stopper and having a pass rush motor that won't quit. He's apparently not as refined a rusher in terms of technique, but he gets to the QB.

That'd be a big loss if he can't go. I saw him go down the first or second series in Week 16 and it didn't look good.

Texans defensive end Jonathan Greenard and receiver Noah Brown were ruled out for the game.

Will Anderson Jr., Maliek Collins, Sheldon Rankins returned to practice.

Receiver Robert Woods (hip) has not practiced this week because of a hip injury but is questionable to play Saturday.

Fullback Andrew Beck, who was also named as a Pro Bowl alternate, is questionable to play Saturday. He was limited in practice Thursday with a calf injury but practiced for the first time this week.

While the Colts just plain failed to execute on their final 4th down, still a good job by the defense stopping them on short yardage to force that 4th down.

Here’s our scenarios:

- If Jax loses - we are the 4 seed and host Cleveland
- If Jax wins and Bills lose - we are the 6 seed and travel to Kansas Coty
- If Jax wins and Buffalo wins - we are the 7 seed and travel to Buffalo

Congrats, guys. As bad as it seemed with that religious guy running the show, it's now so much better.

Amazing what a few years and some negative publicity can do.

Now if only the Jets would take a page out of the Texans' playbook.

Buffalo forecast for next weekend:

Sat 13 Snow Showers 35°/23° WSW 17 mph
Sun 14 AM Snow Showers 26°/21° WSW 17 mph

KC forcast is cloud, highs of 14 and 13 for Saturday and Sunday.

Let's hope for NRG!

Obviously, Cleveland is our first choice but not sure who I'd rather face between KC and Buff? I guess Buffalo just because of KC's playoff pedigree but they're definitely not the dominant Chiefs of recent years. Not factoring in weather just yet but Greg brings up a good point.

Sounds crazy, but we’re playing with house money anyways - something feels appropriate about drawing the Chiefs.

This whole thing went sideways when we choked in Arrowhead and that offseason is when they traded Hop. We just exorcised the winning st Indy demon. Let’s go fix that last error in Arrowhead.

Hopefully in 2042 we look back and enjoy the 20-year run of playoff appearances that started in 2023.

Also the start of the Titans 20-year losing streak to Houston, known as the "Oiler Jersey Curse".

Stroud ends with the 3rd most passing yards by a rookie. Unfortunately those two games missed cost him setting a new record. He ended upo with 4108, which is 266 behind Luck and 228 behind Hebert.

Crazy how long ago that game feels but man would that be sweet. If the Raiders can win there, so can we.

Carolina has worn Whalers throwbacks for years and it doesn't seem to affect them.

Just saying that asking for fairness when it comes to greed and circumstance seems to be futile.

At least it's not political fairness and justice you're seeking. Be thankful it's relegated to sports (for the time being).

Love to see it. Loved their draft, knew this team was way better than they showed last season.

Only fitting to be in the playoffs. Really like this team, and happy to own Dell and Collins. Just wish I had a slice of stroud.

Crazy thought from a non-fan. I think the Texans are more likely to beat either the chiefs or bills than the browns.
No dog in this fight, but your team is fun to watch even for a rival.

It'd be appropriate for the Titans to beat the Jags today, and give the division title to Houston... the same season they began playing dress up like Houston again and decorating their stadium like Houston. And got swept by Houston.

If I were a Titan fan I think I'd just prefer they lay down and give Jacksonville an easy win. But Tennessee deserves more agony just for being a generally miserable franchise who turned the beautiful Oiler uniform into the hideous Titan uniform. Let's go "Oilers." No choking. Get it done.

I've never cared about any "clinched the division" merchandise, or even the pennant for baseball. But if we end up winning the AFC South I could see picking up a shirt. Just because of how it seemed incomprehensible of it happening going into the season. So proud of this team.

And most of those BOB division championships were just a result of a miserable division. Meaningless for the most part but it's nice for this team to finally surprise on the upside in a huge way. A division crown would be the chef's kiss to a tremendous season. Lets go Oilers!

I'll take my chances versus Flacco and the Browns at home. Facing KC/BUF away in bad weather seems like a much taller order for a young team.

Man I didn't realize until seeing a replay just now... that pass down to Nico inside the 10 where the horse collar took place... Stroud stood in the face of the rush to get the ball away and got lit up by a lineman who had a 5 yard head of steam built up.

Browns feel boom or bust at this moment. Flacco will eventually turn into midnight Cinderella but that defense worries me with our offensive injuries at this point. It’s a bad matchup for us like we saw a few weeks ago.

I think KC and Buffalo give us more winnable games just in the matchups themselves. I think our clearest path is KC round 1. If we sneak by there, it could be home va Miami or road va Buffalo. It’s the path that avoids the Ravens until the championship round and puts teams like the Browns and Jags on their side of the bracket too.

From second to worst team to maybe winning the division is banannas y’all. Titans playing like they need to win to get in dominating Jags so far.

Still torn since I think Browns are most dangerous because of their defense plus going on road to Bills or KC nobody expects us to win vs playing home game. That said would be nice to see Jags not make it.

Texans win the South
Texans win 10 games
Miami is a Wildcard and didn't even win the East

This is tough to deal with as a Miami fan but I again commend CJ Stroud, he's light years better than Tua
