How about this scoring system? (1 Viewer)

Pass, run or catch a TD = 6 pts

pass, run or catch resulting in a 1st down = 1 pts.

pass, run or catch a play >20 yds = 3pts.

2pt conversion (same as above) = 2 pts.

kickoff returns > 40 yds = 1pts

punt returns > 20 yds = 1 pts.

That's it.

No garbage RB stats who get 30 carries per game at 2yds per carry, no PPR garbage where a WR catches a bunch of screen passes for no yards but get PPR points, just plays that are significant to their team winning (i.e. TD's, big plays and guys who know where the yard stick is take care of business).

Thoughts?

One of the nice things about FF is it is easy to track. If you are sitting in a bar, watching the scores scroll by, you can easily get an idea how your team is doing through the stats. Your system would be impossible to track casually. You would have to check the 'play by play' to see how you were doing. That would be my biggest gripe.

Another problem is guys like Hightower (45) and Pittman (49) are worth around the same as SJax (46), C Johnson (40), and ADP (56). It seems like the latter three guys are much more significant to their teams than the first two guys.

I understand your point. Although I still think the points for converting a 1st down should get a reward since that is probably next to TD's the 2nd biggest goal for an offense to acheive during a game. Only doing the 1st down reward though, it sort of doesn't reward the running backs who gets alot of 1st or 2nd down carries during the game for decent yardage (but not necessarily getting alot of carries resulting in a 1st down). To fix this issue you'd either have to give points of some kind for any carry 4+ yards (that is sort of the consensus cutoff point between a good run and just a mediocre/bad RB run) or give a total game bonus points for greater than 4 yard per carry average. I just don't see the point in rewarding the RB alot of fantasy points whom gets 100 yds rushing on the day with 30+ carries, just because his team was up by 3 TD's at halftime. That further drives away from the casual football watcher of being able to track stats easily. So its the whole "what is most accurate and fair scoring system vs. what is most enjoyable". Its a subject that is highly debateable and opinions will vary greatly.
