How active are your league members? (1 Viewer)

I'm in a 10 team dynasty where about 3-4 people really pay attention to the happenings of the league. Out of these couple of guys who pay attention I have offered deals that obvious overpay and they just reject without a counter. Here recently I have sent out other deals that have been on the board for 2-3 weeks with no activity on them. I have even sent out emails to some of the guys to no avail as well. This league has been going for about 7-8 years and I think guys are just getting bored personally. I could be the problem too, maybe?????

I am a very active owner who checks the site at least once a day for activity and send out deals to any and everybody with most of them an obvious overpayment just to generate activity.

How active are the leagues you play in?

I've noticed a drop off in participation in nearly every league I'm in, dynasty or redraft. I'm not sure if people have burnt themselves out on fantasy football or what but it a definite trend.

My league has a lot of guys that are not active. They draft and make a few free agent additions during the year and then that is it. Some people use the excuse they don't have the time to put into it, but they want to play each year. I've thought about jacking up the entry fee to try to motivate people more, but I'm sure it will only run them off. Most owners that are not active are suspicious of trades even if they are absurdly in their favor because they assume they don't have some piece of critical information. So instead of researching the trade they just reject it. They aren't risk takers in their life and they certainly won't be in FF. It's definitely not you.

As league members get older, this is natural. I paid a lot more attention to fantasy football before I got kids and a more demanding job. It really isn't as high up my list of priorities anymore. That's true for a bunch of guys in my main league.

Maybe they just aren't ready to make any trades or do any deals until the season gets closer. It's just too early to get their attention. Maybe wait until training camp and preseason games start and they will be more into it. Also, a lot of teams just don't do deals because they value their players much more highly than other teams may. So what you think is overpaying could be viewed as a lowball offer to them so they aren't responding. In my main 12 team keeper league I would say there are 4 other owners who are real active along with me. The others make roster moves but will not trade unless you initiate a deal with them. They will respond to trade offers though if I send them one.

Just started a keeper league this year with 9 guys who I've been doing 1-year fantasy leagues with for about 3 years now. They are much like what you mentioned...there are about 3-4 teams in our league that actively manage and look to make deals, etc...the rest just seem to be very unwilling to make trades and like you said, just make a few waiver additions throughout the year and that's about it. It would be nice to be in a league where all 10 teams were as much into it as I am...

Those are the type of owners who need to only play in redraft leagues. They get their fix every fall, but don't waste the time of dynasty owners.

Not nearly active enough. Unfortunately my main league has a veto option for trades, so it is almost impossible for one to go through. I would like to come up with a solution to this problem, but for some reason people are against changing it despite everyone acknowledging it needs to be changed.

I have a league that is area FBGs (keep 3, 12 teams) and it is very active. Personally, I don't like trading this early, as I would kick myself if the player I traded for got injured. I know it goes both ways, but I know I put a lot of time into this hobby and right now most of us are on an equal plane (not really knowing anything but random tidbits). I like to wait until training camp starts so I can get a better feel of what is going on, and if my leaguemates do not due their homework, it is there loss.

With that said, we have had 9 trades since July 3rd, and usually everyone checks in at least once a day.

When I was in my early 20s, I just to scoff at the older guys with kids who would show up on draft day unprepared or just coast through the season without doing much activity. Now that I have kids of my own, I understand why they do it. I don't like it and I still do my research, but I'm not the fantasy football 24-7 guy I was years ago.Internet-based leagues have expanded the hobby exponentially, but it has also made it a lot easier to sign up for a team and then let it run on cruise control all year long. 20 years ago, if a guy muddled through a draft, kept the same lineup all season long and made only 2 waiver wire transactions all season, he probably wouldn't be invited back next year.

pretty active, but now that some of the members are married with kids, the activity level has dropped.at the end of the day, life happens to people and things like fantasy football start to take a back seat to things such as taking your kid to the ball game and such. You cant really argue with that.
