Great to see Joey with a couple dingers this week, too. He's starting to heat up
Iztruis came through last night, but im far from sold on him. I do like Hanahan and Paul.FDAS said:I actually don't hate the bench this year. It's amazing how a lack of Willie Harris can boost your confidence.
I was at the game last Monday which was over in no time then went to Saturday's game that went 13 innings. I was just saying last night that it has to suck to have these long games in the middle of their 20 game stretch. They are going to have to start resting starters soon I would think.Iztruis came through last night, but im far from sold on him. I wonder when Corky Miller will catch? Maybe tonight with Cingrani going?
Im going to the game tonight, hopefully it wont last as long as last nights game.

Saw that too. No clue what that was aboutLet me get this straight.... Dusty just let Mike Leake bat in the bottom of the 7th, with 2 out / 2 on, when down a run?
correction, Schaeffer got a single, he didn't walk.Of course Leake makes the third out of the inning. Then he proceeds to walk the leadoff hitter and then gives up a basehit to make it first and third without nobody out.
agreed. At first I wondered what the hell Dusty was thinking, but Leake is as good or better than most on the bench. It didn't work out, but it could have. As far as him going out into the 8th, I thought that was questionable. Dusty always has a tendency to leave pitchers in a couple batters too long. nothing new here.Reposted from MLB season threadLeake is career .288/.311/.390 against LHP. He's one of the best hitting pitchers in baseballOn the bench, Dusty had left handed bats Hannahan and Xavier Paul, not very good hitters Cesar Izturis and Derrick Robinson and a backup catcher.Dusty does some weird things but I think this move is defensible, even though it didn't work out as planned.
Leake >>> StrasburgIt truly boggles my mind how little (read: no) press Mike Leake is getting. The kid never pitched a single pitch in the minor leagues and has started out 3-0 w/ a 3.10 ERA. You bet if he played for the Yankees they'd lead in w/ him every single SC.

We're spoiled, but it would help if the starters would get deeper also. When you're not getting quality starts and playing all these games in a row, the manager will try to squeeze every last out from his starters. That's a dangerous habit whether you're Dusty or anybody else.agreed. At first I wondered what the hell Dusty was thinking, but Leake is as good or better than most on the bench. Dusty will not start three LH bats in a row unless, like the other night, he's giving starters some rest. At this point, there's not too many options for having another RH bat in the two spot until Heisey returns.2 sweeps in a row against some sub par competition. At least 1 of them was on the road. Votto batting .391 on the road this season. Something needs to happen with the #2 spot in the batting order. Cozart isn't cutting it. Frazier is struggling too right now. How about Xavier Paul?
Was listening to it in the garage. Marty was saying that the batters knew what was coming, which I took to mean he was only throwing fastballs today.Did Chapman have another "girlfriend" get robbed in his hotel room or something?I didn't catch the end of this one because of my daughter's piano recital (you haven't lived until you've heard the violin cover of Call Me Maybe) , but was this another case of not having any control of his slider and only throwing one pitch?
He was just missing early in counts and kept getting behind. When Chapman NEEDS a strike, it's always a fastball. Easy part is knowing that though. Harder part is hitting it.Was listening to it in the garage. Marty was saying that the batters knew what was coming, which I took to mean he was only throwing fastballs today. Was it possible? That's why he's on your team...he was always public about testing FA (and the vibe in Cleveland was that he was not returning regardless).Man I wish they would have extended Choo's contract before the season.
Really hard to say, but I'm not as down about not resigning him early as others. I think the fact that he's had a year here with the team/fans/city probably evens out with the fact that he's doing so well. At this point, I think if we're close on money he might stay. In February, we're just any other team to him, right? Winning big in October would likely help even more. Was it possible? Because Asdrubal had issue with the home plate ump? I didn't know pitchers took such issue with that. Unless there is another reason.Wonder if things will get interesting tonight. I understand why Chapman brushed Swisher back, but was probably too close to the head.
We're each coming from different sides, but I don't think it was about Cabrera at all. I thought pitch 1 was general Chapman craziness. He got touchy about the slightest reaction and threw straight at Swisher on pitch2. As Tom Hamilton said, "you want intentional? I'll show you intentional". I don't really think this makes Chapman any less lame, but I don't think it was about Cabrera.Because Asdrubal had issue with the home plate ump? I didn't know pitchers took such issue with that. Why throw upstairs twice then, isn't once enough?

My guess is that the first was unintentional, but the second was due to Swisher's reaction to the first.Because Asdrubal had issue with the home plate ump? Finally saw the replay...didn't realize from where I was how bad that first pitch was. Didn't look like Swisher did anything but stare at him but I only saw once. I'm assuming both benches were warned pregame so there was little chance of anything happening tonight...unless it gets out of hand later. It's on tonight.
Or tomorrow...
or Thursday.
Phillips getting plunked was a purpose pitch IMO, but Choo getting hit, well, that's just par for the course for Choo, not to mention it was an 81 mph breaking ball. Finally saw the replay...didn't realize from where I was how bad that first pitch was. edit: I guess the Tribe plunked a couple...
Pregame, the banks right by the stadium has great options. For eating and drinking, Christian Moerlein lager house or the Yardhouse are great. If you just want a bud light and a million people for the atmosphere, Holy Grail is the biggest hangout pre and postgame.Heading to Cincy this weekend with some buddies to catch a couple of Reds games. Anything we should know about GAB? Good restaurants or bars in the area (we are staying just across the river in Ky.)? Also will be wanting to find a decent spot to camp and watch the Bruins-Blackhawks Game 2 on Saturday night.
