How 'bout them Reds! (2 Viewers)

If you've seen much of Blandino live, what position do you think he will land at?

For now let's make the leap that the 2017 starting INF icludes Pereza, Suarez, Blandino, votto...Who plays where?

I think it would take a Cozart trade AND Phillips trade to get AB up here this year. They're already searching for a path to everyday PT for Pereza and I don't think AB can run him over if only 1 job opens.

I think my favorite thing about this bullpen is going to be how they feed off each other. Walk a couple guys? No problem, watch me hit this guy with Ball 4. Oh yeah? Check out this big fat meatball. boom.

second favorite thing is that ESPN game cast has guys with their former teams' hats on still. Rondon just mowed down guys from three different teams according to gamecast.

It's really savvy of JJ Hoover to take any pressure off the young offense by erasing any hopes of mounting a comeback like that. Intangibles like that are key in developing the nucleus of the club for years to come.

:bag:  Was just going to make a crack at the Reds not having player names on the back of the road uniforms tonight, and praise the front office for protecting  player anonymity, when I noticed everybody was wearing number 42....

Maybe they should consider making every game Jackie Robinson day this year.

And another Danny Graves special tonight. How is Hoover's ERA still only in the teens?  Are there any other "closers" who lead their team in earned runs? Did he move into Kelly Gregg's locker or something?

The BIG concern I have is what to do with Mesoraco.  He's obviously struggled at the plate but he's also looked terrible behind the plate.  Tucker seems to be a much better options in both facets of the game right now.   I can't see Mes accepting a full blown timeshare and we already know he is unwilling to play/learn another position.

After tonight's five hit/four run two-thirds of an inning performance, he clocks in at 19.50. He left with Kris Bryant on base, and if Bryant had scored, that would have pushed Hoover over 20.00, but Ohlendorf got Rizzo to pop-up to end the inning.

" I wonder what my career would look like if the Reds had given me as long of a leash as they've given some people. Tough to swallow really "

The way some people described it he was bashing JJ Hoover.  It doesn't seem that bad.  I don't agree with Him because JJ leash really hasn't been that long.  It's only been less than 3 weeks.  Lecture has sucked for a few years.

what the ####.

Brutal.
You really need to look at things in their perspective. The Reds are not going to contend this year. This year

is totally reliant on developing their talent. It wouldn't surprise me if they get no hitted again this year. BTW

Suarez is looking like a steal.

True, but I think that 5-1 start got some hopes up that it wouldn't be SO bad.  But they don't get to play the Phillies 162 times.

Only one of these statements is not true:

Hoover has served up a dinger in 50% of his appearances this year.

His 2 run, 1 inning performance last night actually lowered his ERA.

Hoover has given up as many homers as the Braves have hit.

The Reds would still lead the majors in HR's allowed without Hoover's contributions.

Is this a trick question?   I'm thinking they're all true.

He snuck in 1.2 scoreless innings in a 9-0 loss to the Cubs in the appearance before that,  which lowered his ERA just enough that giving up 2 runs "ballooned"  his ERA from 15.26 to 15.58.

Ohlendorf's run was a roller up the middle that Cozart couldn't get anything on the throw and a flare to the opposite field.  He's still terrible of course.
