not a big fan of the buds either, I like the light headphones when I can get away with it ...would count the same for this purpose
Funny, that's all I've worn for years. I guess I do use a wireless speaker when I'm getting ready for work because the shower really makes it hard to listen to have buds in.

The album is surely a lost art form it seems.
I’m surprised by how many still listen to albums. All my music is digital. I don’t think I even possess a music cd any more. It would take a lot more effort to hunt down an album on my iPad than to just hit play with the library on shuffle.

don't they offer music selection by the entire album (in order) like spotify?

I listen to full albums on Spotify - so it's digital but I just enjoy getting the full work and the "feel" of albums verses just random songs.

30's

80% Spotify, 20% USB drive for the car (was an ipod but it finally died).

Listening through either computer speakers, headphones attached to a computer, or car speakers.

Always a playlist of a few thousand songs on random. The only time I listen to a full album now is right when it get released, and even then I skim through songs just trying to find ones to add to my random playlist. I feel like what makes a good album has completely changed due to this, where my favorite albums were ones that had a high floor of song quality across the board, and I would be supremely disappointed buying an album due to one song and then finding out the rest of the songs are terrible. Now I don't even care about "decent" songs, there is so much music that I don't have time for 7/10 songs, only 9 or 10/10 songs allowed where a single good song on an album that makes my playlist is more valuable that a bunch of ok songs on a single album.

I had thousands of albums and was a fairly late adopter to mp3s and music from a computer, starting in around 2004. Now I have no idea where my albums are and I don't really care, I have my music backed up across three hard drives for redundancy, and it would probably be the first thing I try to save if my house was burning down once the family/pets were out. One regret I do have is that I did not make an electronic version of every album or song since at the time I was very limited on hard drive space which would not be a problem now. I often find myself downloading stuff that I know I own.

Pretty simple approach -

1)  40's

2)  Divide your music listening into three categories below by estimated percentage (should add up to 100%)

- full album ...5%

- custom playlist stuff.....0%

- pandora-type mix the "system" has created...…..0%

- NEW CATEGORY - Car Radio...…...95%

3)  Divide your music listening by device (should add up to 100%)

- phone/ipad with earbuds...…..0%

- wireless speakers...…….0%

- wired stereo system set up...…..100%  (if this includes car radio)

I listen to very little music.  Some CD's and the radio in the car.  Typically I listen to podcasts in the car so actual music is probably less than 5% of my listening pleasure.

1)  40s  (46 to be exact)

2)  Full album ...start to finish - 1%

     Custom playlist stuff - 15%

pandora-type mix the "system" has created - 84% - I listen to my Alexa devices a lot and I usually just do "play the Beatles" or "play the Beatles station"

3)  phone/ipad with earbuds - 5% - only when working out or when sitting at my desk at work and play music

     wireless speakers - 65%

wired stereo system set up - 30% - does a car stereo system count?  I'm basing this on my commute time pre-Covid, which was 2 hours a day and there would be a lot of music and podcasts

This came up in another thread.  No pole, I'll just assemble the results and post back here.

Pretty simple approach -

1)  list your age range by decade - 20s, 30s, 40s, etc. (50s)

2)  Divide your music listening into three categories below by estimated percentage (should add up to 100%)

- full album ...start to finish (4%)

- custom playlist stuff (46%... playlists on spotify pulled mostly from algorithms below)

- pandora-type mix the "system" has created (50%... use spotify's algorithm derived playlists a lot- release radar, discover weekly, your daily mix 1-6)

3)  Divide your music listening by device (should add up to 100%)

- phone/ipad with earbuds (80%... at work, when I had work)

- wireless speakers (20%... at home... but since being out of work, the numbers have switched)

- wired stereo system set up  (0%)
