+1Lean right on the economy, lean left on social issues, and in the middle on military issues.
Neo-Whig, with slight libertarian, classically liberal and occasionally socialistic tendencies. Is there a choice for that?Whig
90% of the loons here claim they're Independent.Based on the assertion (that I don't agree with) that the FFA is predominately liberal leaning.

Is that you Flo?I consider myself Progressive
That's a valid method for measuring oneself against other golfers, but politically?By height
Same here as well, though my right and left leanings are pretty small. Some might categorize my thoughts on various issues as scattershot.Same here.+1Lean right on the economy, lean left on social issues, and in the middle on military issues.
This describes me pretty well, although I am a registered democrat. Most people I know identify as republicans, but we agree on the majority of things - I've found that their views on taxes take precedence over their social views, which is the opposite for me.Lean right on the economy, lean left on social issues, and in the middle on military issues.
The problem with your poll is that most people THINK they are independent, but in actuality they are further right or left than that.First poll - 15 left, 25 right, 13 middle
Second poll - 10 left, 25 right, 18 middle
Not seeing the support that the FFA is a haven for liberals...
Even if you define "liberal" as "more liberal than me" you end up with 25 right, 28 more liberal than me....
I agree with that statement which is why I gave three flavors of independent. The problem with your poll is that most people THINK they are independent, but in actuality they are further right or left than that.First poll - 15 left, 25 right, 13 middle

This is pretty much me.I used to be a right-leaning independent and even voted for George W. the first time around, but the older I get the more liberal I become. I am still sympathetic to conservative economic policies but fortunately or unfortunately it is about so much more than that.
Someone on here, I think it was Roadkill, said something like "I'm not progressive, I'm just 25 years ahead". I think that encapsulates my thinking these days.
I consider myself FLO FROM Progressive
Exactly. It's the hardcore Christian nonsense, or Cruz and company kicking in doors in Colorado that pushes me away.Conservatives keep pushing the "middle" further and further to the left with theirtendencies.

I have this problem too with some of my family members. When I try to to make any kind of point to counter the BS they say I get told: "Oh that's a democratic talking point".Father In-law is Very much a Republican.. Hard to have any discussions with him that even hint at leaning away from the Far right..
I do this with my mother and brother. Just to shut them up.I have this problem too with some of my family members. When I try to to make any kind of point to counter the BS they say I get told: "Oh that's a democratic talking point". I'm not not sure what it is about them that they have to start political conversations with everyone they come in contact with and try to convert them to their team. I mean if I just agree with everything you say and promise to vote Republican will you go to sleep happy and get brownie points from conservative bubble club or something?Father In-law is Very much a Republican.. Hard to have any discussions with him that even hint at leaning away from the Far right..

Which category does "protecting the environment" fall into?
That's a political group. I was talking about FC's economy, social issues and military issues categories. The Communist Devil wing of the Socialist wing.Same hereLean right on the economy, lean left on social issues, and in the middle on military issues.

We have something of a schism going on right now, right keeps getting righter and the left keeps getting lefter.Conservatives keep pushing the "middle" further and further to the left with theirtendencies.
I only do that for you. And it IS fun.Tim been in yet to tell us what we REALLY are yet? That's always fun.

lots of people are lying in this poll then. The age demographic of the FFA and the fact that the overwhelming majority of participants are football fans pretty much insures that this board will lean conservative. The meat of the age bell curve here is people who formed their political views during the Reagan years. And there was an interesting poll out earlier this year showing a growing red/blue divide in youth football participation (i.e., parents who support vs not).

I am the only one on the planet with the correct viewpoint on every single issue.
That's linear thinking.Isn't the middle between Stupid and Stupid, still Stupid?
