How do you not trade for Ben? (1 Viewer)

I find the fact that they called the Browns incredibly hard to believe.
With Mangini being a recent Brownie (2nd year yes?) and Holmgren new there, the rivalry from the Cleveland side on the part of these guys isn't really there. Fans tend to feel rivalries more than players and management these days, who mostly see themselves as mercenaries and future free agents. But the Rooneys, yeah, them calling the Browns sort of says they really want Ben gone (and maybe that they know how to defense him by now and wouldn't mind facing him twice a year).
It's more the fact that I read the Steelers patently refused to trade Holmes to Baltimore, Cincy, or Cleveland. If they won't trad him within the division, I can't imagine they do it with Ben. I can't recall an intra-divisional trade the Steelers have made, ever.

If you're Buffalo, Oakland, St. Louis, and probably a few other teams you have to take this risk.
no, you don't.
You're right. You do if you ever want to stop drafting in the top 5-10 though.
Why? Because it's so difficult to turn a team around? Seems to happen every year in the NFL.
Why do the Raiders have so much trouble doing it?
Well, it sure ain't from being afraid to take risks, my friend. But, you didn't really answer my question, did you?

I don't think it's easy to turn a team around in one year.I'll say this. Oakland w/ Big Ben is a wildcard contender. Oakland w/ Russell/Gradkowski/Boller or whoever they have now is a candidate for Jake Locker next year.

Why couldn't Arizona offer up their 1st this year and 1st next year...or 2nd next year...Wis has ties to Pitt, AZ has talent at WR, Ben would be perfect there.

I agree, and I would be OK with the trade, I just don't like Ben, don't wanna root for him, and would hate to lose our QB for a year if he goes to Vegas next spring, has a few chardonnays, and gets horny.I have no problem trading a #1 for a QB. heck, would I trade Huff, McFadden, or DHB for him? Ummm, yeah. But it's not like it's so hard to turn thing around in this league, that teams simply have to take major chances. With the salary cap and the draft, and with a rookie salary cap on the horizon, the league is designed for teams to get better. You need a patient front office, good coaches, and a solid scouting staff. I think a move like this should be made by a team that feels like they have all that, but don't have a QB. No idea why Carolina and Minnesota haven't gotten involved. Arizona?? Only the bad teams can use Ben? What would Jacksonville look like with this guy?The Raiders might get a good QB, but as long as Al surrounds himself with yes-men, getting Ben would just be a band-aid.
