I was looking through a stack of resumes and noticed that a lot of women still list their typing speed. If you don't know your speed, here's a link to a free online test. I did two test versions and scored in the 50s. Not too bad but not very good.

111 on first attempt. I think there was a thread for this before, I want to say I was at 120+ back then. I've definitely gotten worse over the years, due to auto-correct/spell-check I'm sure.

83 WPM with 12 errors for an adjusted rate of 71 WPM.

Most of my errors were for double-spacing after sentences since that's how I was taught on an IBM Selectric in the mid-'80s.

In English, not Swedish.

Solid 39, using my index finger on my right hand and 3 fingers on my left hand. :lmao: . Yeah, that is how I type.

just under 100.
gonna need to see some video.
you want to see a video of me typing?
Preferably naked, and wearing a Richard Nixon mask and swim fins.
probably can't swing that at work and i'd be working on a laptop keyboard at home, so no go.
I understand your reasons. Thanks for considering it though.

76 - 5 errors - 71 adjusted

I think that's not my real speed though, i think i'm more like the 50-60 wpm type.

sometimes I wish i had a swype keyboard like on my android though, I swear with that thing i'm really fast.. and talk to text is getting pretty fast as well.

I keep trying to swype on my ipod... oh well.

swype is available on apple now, but apple is garbage

I learned last year that the speed I type my own thoughts and the speed at which I type something that is written are like night and day. When I type on this board, I type probably as fast as my brain can think.

But when I try to type something that is on paper, my speed drops significantly. Not sure why. I don't look at my hands when I type my thoughts, but for some reason, when I look at some other writing, my brain slows down. It's weird.

Reading and typing at the same time isn't a problem for me, but reading and typing and actually understanding what I'm reading would be a major problem. Similarly, I can't read aloud and understand what I'm reading. When I read aloud, I'll get done and have pretty much no clue what I just read until I go back and read it to myself silently.

Different people have different sets of tasks that are problematic for them to do at the same time. (Feynman link.) I don't think it's particularly weird that you have trouble reading and typing at the same time.

86 with 0 errors. And I sit behind a desk typing all day long. It's the new smoking! :D

Isn't that test more like typing/transcribing and not just typing? I felt really slow doing the test, much slower than when I'm typing just my own words. Curious if others feel the same way. I took it several times to get used to the transcribing part but never did much better than around 70 net. I think I would do better if they had audio playing and I typed it.

44 adjusted on Aesop's fables. that sucked.

53 with just one error on Baseball. Ok back to something less type-y.

On first try with Aesop's fables, I did 90 with no errors without warming up and going back five words to fix an error at one point. Second try 100 with no errors. Then I kept going for a while to hit 112 just so I could have the highest, though I'm sure UniAlias could best it. I had just one backspace to correct in my 112 run.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

Will see how high I can get the WPM tomorrow at work, typing on laptop at home not quite the same. :nerd:
