How Good was Bruce Lee? (2 Viewers)

Bruce Lee stepping through a time machine today and fighting tomorrow would get crushed badly by fringe UFC level fighters.

However, Lee seemed much more accepting of incorporating other styles of fighting into his own, so and certainly would be ahead of his time in incorporating grappling, wrestling, etc.

If he grew up in modern times, he'd probably have a chance to be a fringe UFC level fighter based on his above average athletic ability. Extremely unlikely that he would be elite, just because there are so few guys at the top vs how many really good athletes exist in the world.

To the guys who think he could actually compete, why didn't Bruce rack up a top of boxing titles in his day? That sport was far more popular than MMA is now and his skills would probably translate better to boxing.

He didn't want to box and found a way to make money without having to take any real punishment?

One of my martial arts teachers created a training video narrated by actor John Saxon, who co-stared with Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon.

Saxon shared with my teacher several stories and opinions about Bruce Lee.

Reportedly, the prevailing view of most Chinese martial artists was that Bruce Lee was an above average player of traditional internal martial arts and a maverick but certainly not one the best martial artists at that time in Asia.

Most traditional Asian martial arts masters considered Bruce Lee a sell out who revealed the inner teachings of traditional martial arts systems for profit and commercialized them for Western consumption. This one reason he created his own style, because he was not a lineage disciple of Win Chun or any system although be had training in various eastern and western fighting styles.

On the set of Enter the Dragon, Bruce Lee friendly spared with the antagonist, actor Shih Kien, several times and was defeated soundly. Although Bruce Lee was involved in several fights and challenges, he never fought or defeated anyone considered a high level player in the Asian martial arts community.

The rumor of Bruce Lee's assassination by Dim Mak touch/invisible needle technique/poison ordered by Asian Martial Arts masters who issued an order for Bruce Lee to discontinue teaching western students and who were angered by his refusal to stand down is the prevailing view of his death by several martial arts teachers that have commented privately to me on this subject.

I'm really having trouble parsing this sentence.

You guys know he was an actor, right?
So was OJ Simpson.
I guess the difference is OJ played a professional sport and murdered his wife. Bruce Lee went to acting school.
You might want to read up Lee's background a little bit more.
I've read up on the back ground of the Force too, but that doesn't make it real either.
Good then you know that Lee's midichlorian count was very high.

Read about this on his wikipedia, do people really believe he died from a strike he received several weeks prior to death?
Lee's iconic status and untimely demise fed many theories about his death, including murder involving the triads and a supposed curse on him and his family.[145] Black Belt magazine in 1985 carried the speculation that the death of Bruce Lee in 1973 may have been caused by "a delayed reaction to a Dim Mak strike he received several weeks prior to his collapse".
Dim Mak
