How can it possibly be that there is no app that would allow you to plug in your players and get alerts every time they score fantasy points????

Install the ESPN app. Make the teams that your fantasy players are on your favorites. Turn on notifications. Every time that team scores you'll get a notification

I think a better question is why hasn't there been an option to press a button on your tv to ping and locate your missing remote????

The problem is this isn't something someone can just code up in their basement and throw up on the app store for a buck.  The real time stats API from the NFL is something around $10k per month, if not more.  So it's something you would need some serious backers on and you'd have to have a profit model that would bring in a lot more than little one dollar purchases of the app.
