How many catches will AJ get? (1 Viewer)

Can the guy keep this up? I think he declines by about 20% and ends up with 100-110 grabs. What say you?

He has thus far caught almost 71% of the balls thrown his way (and Carr has completed about 70% of his passes). Both of those numbers are ridiculously high, and likely not sustainable.

I expect his catch % to drop to around 60 to 65. So, if he's targeted as often in the second half as he has been thus far, he should catch between 55 and 60 more balls, which would put him at 120-125.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see his targets drop somewhat as well. 180+ targets is an awful lot. Barring injury, he should still be a lock for at least 110 catches.

I don't know, I don't think 71% is an unsustainable catch%. Last year, Steve Smith, Houshmandzadeh, and Reggie Wayne all had 100+ targets and a 68+% catch%. In 2004 (Roethlisberger's rookie year), Hines Ward actually caught 75% of the balls thrown his way, and in 2003, Derrick Mason caught 72% of the balls thrown his direction. I'm not saying that Johnson will certainly sustain that level of production, but I don't think it's entirely out of the question. With that said, Johnson isn't coming anywhere near Harrison's receptions record. To get that record, not only did Harrison catch 70% of his balls, but he also got a RIDICULOUS 205 targets. No one else since then has gone over 183 targets.

The guy runs crossing routes which are impossible to double, they look to get him the ball. We are 9 weeks into the season and he has kept it up against some tough teams. His remaining schedule is not that difficult. He has torched Jax throughout career and did it this year with 8 catches for 106 and that is probably his most difficult test beside week 15 @NE which weather could play a factor. But, the Patriots can be passed on which the Colts exposed. He is a complete stud on a terrible team. I have watched him and they cannot cover him. They give him cushion because he will blow by them, so he runs drags, curls, corner routes, and occasionally keeps you honest with the deep ball. He has it all. When D's run the cover 2 (Jags) he just finds a soft spot and Carr gets it to him and lets him run with the ball. I like him a lot and don't really see production stopping at all.

I think he can sustain the 70% catch rate as many of his catches are 5-10 yard hitches and crossing routes meant to try to get RAC yards. I think he still averages 6-8 catches a game here on out. I think 110-125 is realistic unless he gets nicked up or something.

I was very him on Andre Johnson before the seaon and targeted him in an initial dynasty draft. I am very please with his production and see him continuing to excel the rest of the year.......BUT

I then traded him and C Jackson in a Dynasty league for Steve Smith before the season began... I still am happy to have Smith and think I won the trade so far, but seeing a young player succeed who I targeted , then traded kinda burns.

Moulds and whoever is on the other side of him is not good enough to be a #1 threat anymore , just good enough so defenses have to pay attention to him and leave AJ open to produce. .. and if Carr is upright long enough to throw helps.

Andrew Johnson is money!!!!

This is what stud WR's do - catch the ball and catch a lot of them.

Him and Anquan Boldin are very similiar in the way they play and how they open up the game. I expect AJ to keep it up.
