How Many Dwellings Have You Lived In? (1 Viewer)

apartments aren't places where you people lived? what happened in those apartments- just for the dismembering?

wtf people.

not counting college...

*1 house I grew up in (18 years)

*2 apartment I moved into after college for a couple years with friends in SF (2 years)

*3 apartment I moved into for grad-school and life-thereafter in NYC (10 years)

*4 current apartment I moved into with the gf/now wife. (17 years)

*5 apartment we had to move into for a year after a fire in our building

huh. thought there were more.

eta: are we not counting college because of dorms? I took a year off from college and lost dorm housing- had to live in apartments on my return... had 2 more of those.

Lived by myself, parents, a cousin,  buddies, girlfriends, and a wife.

That was apartments, rentals, trailors, a garage, a cabin, back of a van.

This place only home I bought, think this will be the final stop. Unless she kicks me out.

15 places where I grew up, corporate housing, or paid rent/mortgage.

Have stayed in well over 1000 nights in hotels - gross.

(0-18) Five homes

(18-24) Three houses with roomates

(25-26) Apartment with girlfriend

(27-33) Condo with girfriend

(33-present) House with wife

So, 11 total.  I want to do it one more time.

0-18: 1 home, my parents eventually sold it when I was 40

5 in college

22 - present : 11

We'll almost certainly stay in this house until I'm 60.

You realize the original title was How Many Houses have you lived in and not dwellings?

13, counting college on the whole as 1.

Mom and Dad had me while they were renting a small place, they moved, we rented a place before settling into what I still to this day consider "home." 4. Then college. 5. Then with my aunt and cousin for a year while I figured stuff out, finally moved back to Nashville. 6, 7. Moved around every 1-2 years, currently working on year 3 in current spot, would prefer to keep it for even longer. 13.

1 house I was born in...moved before I was 1 yr old so meh

1 house I grew up in

4 College years (dorm, 2 apartments, house)

4 Early working years...all apartments

2 Married years...both houses...Fixer upper for 3 years then current house for 16 years

Total = 12

In the background, an insurance TV commercial said Americans, on average, will live in 11 homes.

I thought this sounded extraordinarily high.  My wife is at 9, i am at 7.

Not counting student housing/college......what’s your number?  From birth on......
Heading there now.  1.  Don't stay up using the doggie door.

1 apartment that I grew up in until I was 18

2 apartments on my own

1 apartment with my wife/then girlfriend

1 house with my wife,  25 years in October. Moved in the week before our wedding.

Not counting college or grad school housing, nor temporary dwellings like a summer home:

7 and counting.

If you include housing during grad school, bump it to 8.

If you included college, bump it to 11.

Homes I don't remember (0-2)  2?

Homes I remember as a kid(age 3-18)  5

College (2 dorm rooms and an apartment)

After college 7

so 12 or 14 without college

2 houses when I was little. 3 if you count the six months we stayed with my grand parents between houses.

Moved into my wife's (then girlfriend) town house.

Bought my current house.

So 3 or 4?

5 before end of high school.  5 since college.  Not in my last place either, the wife and I are starting to look for a different house now.

(If we included college I would have another 5.)

people were confused with houses and housing, so i changed to dwelling.  i will allow a van down by the river or any other body of water for that matter.
thanks! so I'll also assume shanty under the overpass works.

btw- I see "dwelling" and I can't not think of these

eta: do those count too?

MA - Married#1

VA - Married#2
VA - Married#3
VA - Married#4
VA - Married#5 - First Owned House, lived there almost 8 years.

15 total. Will likely live in this place at least another 6-7 years (until kids are out of HS.) Then we're off to somewhere better climate than VA/DC.

So far 15 not including college (which would have only added one year living in a fraternity house)

we are building a new house so hopefully my final number will be 16 (unless my kids put me in a home one day).

9 of those dwellings were because I grew up in a military family where we moved every few years)

3 of those dwellings were from my 4 years in the service after college)

So really only 4 homes my entire life not related to college or military - and of those 4, 2 were the same residence but 10 years apart (lived with the in-laws for 6 months when we got married).  Bought that house 5 years later when they downsized - and we have lived there since 1995.

Parents' house growing up/college/a few years after college

First apartment

Rented house with girlfriend

Apartment

House with another girlfriend

Apartment

House with girlfriend/wife

Current house with wife
