How much do bye weeks affect your draft strategy? (1 Viewer)

So when you are drafting your RB3, RB4, WR4, etc, how much do the bye weeks of your starters affect who you draft? Do you ignore bye weeks and just draft the best team you can and worry about byes when they happen, or do you choose you bench players in part based on their bye weeks?

It usually doesnt.

I havent had byes listed on my ranking sheets in some 22 years.

Which is odd because there have been many things to find their way onto and off the list. But never byes.

I may look it up while the draft is going on, but its not a concern.

Me personally, I go for the absolute best team available. If I'm completely 50/50 on somebody, maybe I'll take it into consideration, but I'll never settle for inferior talent just for one game.

BINGO!I am going to draft the best player I think is on the board and fits my team. Byes are used as tiebreakers

Personally never take bye weeks into consideration at all. Makes for some interesting challenges when I find out all my players have the same bye week, but that's fine with me. I'd rather have all my top guys take the some week off and chalk up the loss instead of constantly having 1 top guy on the bench.

It doesn't really but weeks 6 and 8 are going to be U L G Y this year.
I did an analysis a while back on bye weeks and ADPThe highlights were:

-24% of players in the top 50 ADP had week 6

-28% of players with ADP 51-100 had week 8

-of the top 100, 22% had week 8 & 19% had week 6

i use it as a tiebreaker or when they start to really add up. i.e, starting 3 wr's, i don't worry if wr4 shares a bye week, but if that's the case i don't draft wr5 with same bye as wr4+ - at that stage of the draft this probably qualifies as a tiebreaker also.

I really only take byes into account if it's a kicker or defense in a regular league.
Just to take your statement. one step further, I would rather have a kicker, TE, and defense with a later bye week so I can see if my sleepers and long shots are going to pan out. In the past I've had to cut one of my sleepers early to find bye week replacements for a kicker, defense, or TE. When I make my rankings long before I even go to a draft, I may rank the player with a later bye higher just so I am more likely to get one with a later bye. I won't make drastic adjustments in my rankings, but if two players are close, I may rank the player with the later bye higher.
