PhD in human genetics. I haven't worked a single day in the field after I defended my thesis.

Wasn't there a thread on this awhile ago? I am remembering someone saying that a coworker put every letter after their name to ridiculous levels? Like if I put BA MA JD all after the esq.

Not sure this is the results the OP was looking for. Most people are probably making between $80-130K here based on the degree types.
I was a teacher now I am a coordinator of the math department, which is the next step up and I wish I made that much!

That's nothing. We had some clown try and say she had a PHD. It was right there on her resume. When questioned about it. She said everyone has a PHD. Public Highschool Diploma. Ok, fat lady, get the #### out of here. You are a ####### idiot.

An awful lot of engineering degrees in here. Entry level engineers start out at $55k. Get 20 years experience and bring in $120k+.

So you're saying I should delete the part about my PHD on my resume?

No. Just have your answer ready when questioned about it.

BSBA, double major Accounting and MIS.
Similar BS Acct, BSBA MIS and MBA

Never used the Acct degree unless you count my taxes.
Yeah they sort of gel together from a ERP system perspective. I do corporate accounting now, but started in IT auditing. Jack of all trades/master of none can definitely be said, but if I got fired today I'd have two career fields I could get something in, like the job or not. I'll take that.

Also, I would like to establish the bias that those who actually have an education are more likely to respond to an anonymous poll. So I would chisel about 5% off of the upper-graduate degrees to get a better overall picture.

Your mileage may vary

"I realize I'm only pursuing an associates 'degree', so I'm going to fudge the numbers to inflate my diminished educational attainment"

These are not footballguys wages.....That should be the average amex bill for the year around here......

Yeah....I started out wanting to be an accountant, learned the nature of the business after it was too late, begrudgingly finished it and went on to do MIS stuff which is what I do today.

BA from Case Western Reserve University, 1999, Majors: Psychology, Sociology

Certificate from John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, 2001, Psychological Operations Course

Certificate from University of Maryland, College Park, 2008, Terrorism Analysis

MBA, University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business, 2012

Probably done with school for a while

Definitely. And it makes sense - what other types of fields would produce people with 1) ability and job freedom to be on a message board during the workday; and 2) mental desire to discuss the ridiculous issues which we do?

How long until the follow up poll: "How much money do you make per hour?"

The options will be:

<=$7

$8

$9

$10

$11

$12 (I believe this is what Em makes per hour)

$13+

Em will then make a post:

"The people who make more money are more likely to reply to the poll so I'm just going to throw away the most picked answer."

Em will proceed to feel good about himself.

Em should really listen to me. Unlike most of the FBGers, I don't have a degree. Yet I was able to rise up and elevate myself to FBG status through hard work and dedication.

I worked as a bartender. I made connections doing so. I took jobs that didn't pay much to start but got my foot in the door. Almost anyone can go work at a call center as a help desk analyst. It doesn't pay much, but it'll get you in the door.

I remember that even though I drank and partied in my 20's, I spent almost every moment I wasn't working or partying reading books that would teach me new things. I became friends with people who could further my career or teach me things that helped me.

With nothing more than a high school diploma, I have made an amazing career for myself. And at no time did I ever have a "get rich quick" scheme for an idea. My "get rich quick" scheme was hard work.

Instead of trying to learn day trading in penny stocks, you should be buying books on coding or database administration. And instead of getting high and playing Crash Bandicoot, you should be reading these books and learning life skills.

Success doesn't come easy. If it did, everyone would be rich. There's a reason most of the country is poor. It's because they are all waiting for success to be given to them or holding out for their "get rich quick" plan to finally start working.

Wake up. Life is passing you by.

BSBA in both Finance and Risk Management. Though it is not a degree I am CPA which requires more schooling. A couple classes away from completing my Master of Science in Predictive Analytics.

I also work in research, specifically survey research. I can confirm the bias reduction Em made up is not valid.

People who post on internet forums a lot tend to be people with a good amount of disposable time. People with disposable time tend to be people educated enough to get paid well for little effort.

You really are sort of a nasty passive-aggressive twit troll, huh?

Not posting my education in this thread.

I think you underestimate the demographics of the people who post here. Mostly older white male professionals.

I've just finished my doctoral degree (DBA with a concentration in Accounting) ...getting the last sign-offs this week, in fact.

"Readiness for Change and Perceptions of the Learning Organization in Public Accounting Firms" was the dissertation.
you should post this somewhere...sounds very interesting (ex Andersen employee).

Take it to the test forum, nerds.
