***Howard Stern*** (5 Viewers)

The Metallica interview was ho-hum.

The Floyd Mayweather interview on the other hand was hilarious. Seemed like Floyd was genuinely enjoying the interview. Floyd actually came off as likeable which I was not expecting.

Did Stern actually have his wife in for 1.5 hours talking about adopting kittens? WTF?

Has Howard completely lost it and sold out for big commercial success?

His wife sounds a bit mentally challenged as well.

Havent heard today's interview but I remember thinking she must have been dropped as a child while watching her on 60 Minutes.

Hre fascination with animals is obviously a substitute for motherhood. Howard is a selfish SOB. 10 years from now, Beth will have lost some of her looks and will mightily rue her decision to marry an old rich dude.

It's hard to tell if you've sold out when you purposely surround yourself with only people who kiss your ###.

I lived off Stern in the mid to late 90's through early 2000's. I was driving a ton for work and this show will always have a special place in my heart but when I randomly flip it over now its not even remotely close to the same show. His interviews have gotten tamer and he has just turned soft. They say he is trying to change his image to more of a commercial appeal with the success of AGT/

For a more rawer and looser show OandA still have their moments

Who says this? I don't think any of it has anything to do with that.

Whoopie Goldberg on today. Howard RIPPED on her through the years. Even recently (Rape Rape)

Now they are best friends.

Hollywood Howie.
I have Sirius so listen to Stern off and on for the past few years. Never listened to his show before that. His show is usually pretty great.

When he starts talking about AGT though it is unlistenable. His whole staff just slurps him up the whole time as he talks about that cheesy ### show.

Got another promotional letter from Sirius to come back for $7 a month. I miss some of Howard's interviews, but with his limited schedule I still don't think it's worth it.

Always hoping to open this thread and see some good reviews to change my mind.

I try and catch his interviews when he has a big name but other than that he has just surrounded himself with some unfunny ### kissers.

What do you guys think of OandA. When they are on that show is really funny

Are they still doing the block party and spending hours and hours talking about it?
he nixed it a long time ago
What? Yes, he's said many times that it's annoying, but that is kind of schtick.

ACtually, now that I think about it, it probably has been on hiatus because Ronnie has been busy with the AGT stuff. And Shuli's been doing his own stand-up tour. I bet they will start up soon.

It has been a while, but IIRC, he actually stopped them from doing the tour.

Howard always craps on anything done by someone on the show outside of himself and Robin. Meanwhile he tells them that he is pulling the plug on it all in couple of years and they will all be unemployed. God forbid they try and make something of themselves so that they can continue to earn a living after he drops the show.

Yeah, I remember that. Just didn't think it was that serious. Poking around online, though, it looks like you may be right.

He doesn't usually ##### about people doing things on their own. It's when they use his name to promote it that he gets aggravated. He's very protective of his brand and doesn't want to cheapen it.

And when Gary does his Techno Beaver stuff, or john Hine does all the TV narration shows for that crappy cable channel and Howard craps all over it? That is not show related and I get the part where he is helping them by mentioning their outside work, but to rip it to shreds while talking about it might not be the boost that they were looking for.

He's got a radio show to do.

It's comedy. He doesn't stop them from doing it. He goofs on them. So what.

Actually..the original thing was that he did stop them from doing the block party and he thinks that it is below him and his show. He doesn't understand that his audience, who clamors for strippers on a sybian, would like seeing Ronny up on stage yelling some trademark things and having a great time together. So he craps on it and shuts it down. Like all things, it is all about Howard and if he was the one doing it, or if he was the one who needed the money it would be OK.

And yes, I know how Howard did not cash in on all sorts of stupid stuff while growing his career ( except for the record-50 ways to rank your mother, the PPV events held annually and the 2 books). But what Howard does seem to forget is that the rest of his people have to eat and by his making them all psudeo celebs, they are going to get all sorts of offers to cash in themselves and they are not highly compensataed like he is to be able to turn it down. Just think about all the stunts that they could get Scott the Engineer to agree to so he could pay for his kid to go to college and Scott is a union technician with a lot of years of seniority.

I don't know, I just see it different. Much like any other boss, Howard isn't obligated to provide some kind of alternate/continuing career for anyone once the show is over. His focus is on the show right now and that involves goofing on them and busting balls.

The bottom line is that if those guys were smart, they would have been able to keep doing the block party forever. Howard let it go on for a long time. Once arguments over pay and such started spilling into the workplace, and Ronnie started asking Howard for permission to screen "Private Parts" at the events (IIRC, this was the straw that broke the camel's back) - it became a pain in Howard's ###. That was when he essentially pulled the plug on it. Those morons dug their own grave. He never liked it, but he tolerated it until it started becoming a personal annoyance.

The Shuli-Scott fights were radio gold, as were most of the stories recounting the weekend. It was the Private Parts movie type requests that got it pulled.

I think that it was more the demands that it made on Ronny TLD and conflicts with Howard's AGT schedule. Plus howard was getting more and more ticked over the guys coming in on Monday mornings and being less then 100% for their main job.

I think once Howard milked the block party drama and conflicts as much as he could, then it was no more use to him. It got worse since it was actually taking off and turning into a viable business and distraction.

Live wrapup show on a Thursday?
I thought they've been doing that for a while maybe? Or maybe during vacations? I don't listen to WUS anymore, but I thought there was a reference to it during the regular show a while back.
Started last week-live WUS on Thurs and Fri.

Anyone else pick up Arties' new book? I have to say, it's incredibly fascinating.

Always knew Artie was lying about his drug use but never would've imagined it got to the point that he writes about. It gets incredibly dark. I have no idea how he is still alive.

Sad thing is, he's still rationalizing a lot of things about his addiction. He still claims he didn't miss a lot of time on the show. He still trashes Teddy. etc.

Highly recommend the book.

A buddy of mine just picked it up and sent me a picture that they took with Artie at a book signing. Guy looks like a mess
