***Howard Stern*** (1 Viewer)

Stern as we knew it is absolutely done though and it's very depressing.

I miss....

Letting staff members fight for hours on end. It seems now he is trying to move on conflict within 5 minutes so he can get out the door.

The excitement when he first came TO Sirius and had so many programming ideas. This is where he really mailed it in. He could do whatever he wanted with those channels. Now we get: Lieberman Live, Riley Martin, and Jay Thomas... All unlistenable.

The onslaught of phony phone calls and Richard and Sal bits. Now we hardly ever get phone calls because he has no time, Wolfie interviews here and there. It sucks. He's always stating he has a bunch of calls to play but never gets to them so he can get the next guest in the studio and get home.

Someone in the Artie chair. It added such a great dynamic. Stanhope, I always thought would have been perfect. He got too lazy to fill it imo.

Win Freds money, Stump The Booey, It's Just Wrong... He hasn't had one of these in YEARS and they were always great radio.

The show is a shell of itself, but I'll still listen to him complain about being tired and tamer interviews because I'm a sucked.

And where are all the hot broads??? "Hi-Lo Heather" was the greatest thing I ever saw.... 2005 or so.

She was a gorgeous model representing Party Poker. He convinces her to play the Hi-Lo game. It's rigged, of course. Five minutes later, she is completely naked and in the tickle chair. You may be able to find it online with some searching, but if there is enough interest I could be persuaded to put it on Vimeo.

I miss a lot of the old Fred drops too. We get some but they just aren't as funny. The burping guy? Not funny.

Fred used to be surgical with those things.

"Vodka... Straight up. Thank youuuuuu"

What happened to Crazy Alice?

Beet is the best. No matter what Howard mentions, he has done it.

==============

Beetle, I hear you won two million dollars playing slot machines.

Yep, two million.

Beetle, I hear you are dating a supermodel.

Yep, TWO beautiful supermodels.
The best was the Beetlejuice for Senate commercial

"I like abortion. It makes me horny."

Listening to old replays the last couple of weeks make me realize how much better Stern show used to be (I still enjoy it, though). The Artie screaming at Crazy Alice show was awesome. And The Jesus Twins show was awesome. Their manager was absolutely great.

I think his losing the lawsuit vs Sirius was when he decided that he was no longer going to kill himself to try and single handedly drag the company up to the number of listeners so he could make his bonus and the start of his just mailing it in and collecting the money from his contract. That mega number of his was supposed to also pay for other talent on the channels so that explains why we get no Bubba and we only get some Riley Martin.

Agree with all you guys. I don't even turn it on anymore. It's actually unlistenable now IMO.
Aside from the interviews, it really isn't that great anymore. Robin is as annoying as ever, Howard is disinterested, and it is tough to have any interest in staff like Benji (his schtick is so annoying and unoriginal), JD, and Ronnie.

Artie is really missed. So is Stuttering John and Jackie.

They need to get someone in the third chair. It could be revolving. David Arquette, George Takei, Gilbert Gottfried, Adam Corrolla.

I've recommended it before and I will again.

I've moved over to Adam Carollas podcast. He's obviously not for everyone but has some hilarious bits. Try it for a week. Of all the post-funny Stern shows, nothing stuck for me but Carolla. I've listened almost every day now for 4 years. The guy takes maybe 5 days off a YEAR so there's always new content.

Oof. I couldn't turn the channel fast enough when Takei was on. How much can you take listening to his sexcapades and bath house stories?ETA: I don't mean that in a homophobic way, just that it's boring, uninteresting and seems to be what he talks about most.

Takei was cool in the beginning as a new edition of a celebrity while they ventured into the Sirius side of things. But the sex stories and laugh definitely got old.

I still find myself singing the Sulu Dance aloud once in a while.

I was a big stern fan back in the 90's and early 2000's. Kind of dropped off when he went to Sirius. I've had a free subscription to Sirius the last 3 months and re-upped for another 6 months through a special offer. It's been great listening again especially to some of the classic bits. My question is about stuttering john. I've yet to hear any bits from stuttering john from the past. Any reason why Howard doesn't play them?

they play them all the time. Maybe you just havent caught them. They recently played his interview with casey kasem when he passed

Howard's goofing on Pat Robertson was really really good this week. Funniest thing in years on the show.

It's on YouTube for the who missed it.

Krystal Ball.

Wow this qualifies as anchor material on MSNBC.

MSNBC’s aptly named Krystal Ball was pranked by a caller who pretended to have been a U.S. military witness to MH17 plane crash in Ukraine. After questioning the “witness” about what he saw, the man tells her the plane was brought down by “wind from Howard Stern’s ###.”

Then, amazingly, Ball tries to ask the caller more questions about “missile systems.” Eventually, the interview comes to a crushing end when he calls Ball a “#######.”

Seeing this over the last couple of days made me think of some of my favorite calls. Youtube has over 10K results.

I remember a story on FOX a story about a dam in upstate New York bursting, and the host asking an "expert" on what he suggested. He spoke for a few minutes about geometry, and the costs, and the materials needed to rebuild, and then said "but if you want a simple solution....just plug in a couple of Babba-Booey's teeth."

The host had a similar reaction as Ms. Ball.

Know what drives me crazy about Robin? (One of the 5,000 things which drive me crazy about Robin)...

Example: a female guest is in the studio, telling a story about how she was abused by her ex-boyfriend.

Robin: "Why didn't she leave him sooner?"

Not.... "Why didn't YOU leave him sooner?"

She asks the question to nobody in particular, even though the guest is sitting ten feet away.

I think this was one of the reasons I had a hard time telling when she was out of the studio for all that time.

Listened to a bit of an old interview with Bill Murray this morning on 101 (commercials on 100 during my drive)

Howard asked him if he had sworn off marriage.

Robin: "How many times has he been married?"

BM: "He's been married two times."

Guess she didn't get the hint.

It's hard to tell if she does that to defer to Howard asking the questions or she's a misanthrope who insulates herself from any direct interaction with humans. The nervous cackle every time someone points out something weird about her makes me think it's more the latter.

Dan Blazerian is on this morning. I'd like to know how it goes if anyone hears it.
Didn't really learn anything new if you're already familiar with this guy's exploits.

All-time worst Robin moments though, chimes in with a question as Stern's wrapping up that IIRC had already been covered, but it was pretty clear she was only paying half-attention, and then wonders aloud -- no shtick -- "I just wonder what his mother thinks of all this."

 x 10000000000000

Howard's story about Robin Williams this morning... Again he wanted to apologize for somebody whom he interviewed years ago. Howard realizes he was a total ####### back in the 80s and 90s. You can also hear it when you listen to the best of shows from back then. The last one they replayed that I'm thinking of is when Wham came in when they were on top of the charts. Howard treated them like complete ####, making fun of them to their faces like, well, how you'd make fun of Wham.

Even though the show is not as strong in terms of the bits and the lack of an Artie, I think Howard has changed for the better in that respect. And I think he's a little embarrassed about how he was before.

Howard's become a grumpy old man. He's like Imus was 15-20 years ago when Howard railed on him every day.

He's constantly telling people how stupid they are for doing things he doesn't or can't do. It's really becoming old quickly.

Two of my least favorite "personalities" on the show today... BigFoot and G-Tak. Should have brought in Gilbert for the trifecta of boring.
