HS girls stage a walkout as trans teen uses girls bathroom (1 Viewer)

Should a HS student that identifies as trangender be allowed to use the locker room of the gender th

Are we no longer differentiating between people who actually go through a sex change and those that simply like to dress and act like the opposite sex? What does it take to qualify as transgendered? Just a statement?
Apparently wearing a skirt, wig stuffed bra and lipstick seals the deal

I feel like some people think there's a constitutional right to never see a penis.
Well I can guarantee that I would sue the school system if my 14 year old freshman daughter came home and told me she went to PE class and some dude was walking around the girls locker room with his c**k out. Also I would file a criminal complaint that, said dude exposed himself to my 14 year old daughter. And if said dude were 18 it would make it that much worse.
And when you realized that this was a transgender teenager who "exposed" the penis while changing clothes for gym class, that would make no difference to you?

Is there a constitutional right for a man to use the women's locker room?
There's an interpreted right under Title IX of the Civil Rights act not to be discriminated against for failure to conform to traditional gender identity roles.
An interpreted right?
I don't know what I should do next here. Do I repeat the same thing again, too?

Living as the opposite sex, I think. Which is an interesting issue, isn't it? You have to live as the opposite sex for a year before anyone will do the surgery... How do you do that if you have to have the surgery to be able to live as the opposite sex? Anyone?

I don't see why that matters. He can identify with anything he wants, but he shouldn't be exposing himself to HS kids. If he wants to be a woman he can go through that process.

Change the rule then.

Girls should not be forced to change or shower with some guy watching them. Maybe there is some wiggle room when dealing with adults, but this isn't appropriate for kids.

Why would it make a difference?

At my job I deal with dozens upon dozens of kids that identify as transgender. There is so much ignorance on this topic from everyone, including health care professionals. People don't even know the difference between transgender, transexual, bisexual, pansexual...........................And this is hospital staff. I can only imagine the knowledge on this subject dwindles down even further among the rest of the population.

I have no problem whatsoever with transgender folks. None.

However, I have a major problem with rules/laws being changed around to accommodate for them, such as allowing transgenders to use the opposite bathrooms. This, to me, is just WRONG.

If you are born a male and have a penis, you use the boys room. If you are born a female and you have a ######, you use you girls room. Simple.

Now, do these transgender kids feel uncomfortable using the restroom they do not identify as??? Probably in a lot of cases yes. But, so what. Call me crazy, but it seems to make a heck of a lot more sense to make ONE person uncomfortable than to make EVERYONE uncomfortable.

It sucks, but they can deal with it. I have talked to many of these kids, and while they don't like it, they understand it. Some of them take it to the next level and alert news stations and whatnot, but to those kids just say TOO BAD. It's not that hard. It sucks, but you don't have to make it suck for EVERYONE.

If your school system has the money and throws in some private gender neutral bathrooms so be it. Most schools don't though.

Knowing the FFA I am sure this thread is littered with all kinds of drivel, which maybe I will read when I get a chance.

People don't even know the difference between transgender, transexual,
I thought transgender was the newer, more PC version of transsexual. They're actually different?
Umm, yeah. One had surgery and one didnt.

Or maybe I clarify a bit.

Transgender people identify as the opposite sex. They do not ALL intend to get a sex change or even take any hormones.

Transexuals are either going through the process, are about to go through the process, or have already gone through the process of changing sex.

So yes, there are many transgender people out there who have no intention of getting surgery and changing their sex.

Basically, there is a heck of a menu out there of differences among this community.

I will tell you this. Many kids ages 13-17 are currently getting hormone therapy and it makes me rather angry that DOCTORS would approve of this.

So let's say I start taking estrogen now. How long before I've got a nice set of C cups? Could I grow a nice rack in time for Halloween? And if I stop taking it, will I go right back to normal with no after effects?

I think transvestite is the new taboo word that classifies as transgender now.
Nope. Transvestites are not the same as transgender. For example a male who is a transvestite still identifies as a straight male. This is not for ALL transvestites since there may be more going on with certain individuals, but transvestites and transgender are NOT the same thing

Transgender would imply you no longer have male sex organs correct?
No idea if this is a serious post or not, but these are SERIOUS types of questions I get from people about transgender.
Good thing we have an expert here to set us straight!
So it was a serious question?? Not a big deal. As I said, the vast majority of people have no idea what they are talking about in regards to all this stuff.

I didn't either until a few years ago.

What do you call a guy who uses his sister in law's panties to masturbate?

Transvestite is a subset of transgender. Actually, I think most everything is a subset of transgender. Transgender is the umbrella term. Right?

No. Transgender is a rather specific thing. People identify as and believe they were meant to be the opposite sex.

There are some overlapping qualities, but each different name such as transgender/transexual/tranvestite.....................have different characteristics than the other.

Some transgender (lets sale born a male) males identify as a female. Dress as a female, take hormones, even go by a different name. They also want a sex change, which would also make them transexual.

Some transgender males identify as female, dress, go by a different name, believe they were meant to be female. However, they do not take hormones, do not intend to take hormones, and do not intend to ever get a sex change.

Some of them date males, some of them date females. Some of them date anyone. Some only prefer to date transgender females, or males.

It's a mixed bag variety pack of stuff out there.

Kind of a nice clarification, and says a lot about identity and its role in the social grievance.

I guess I don't understand the issue you have with a 14 year old seeing a penis, then. If the "exposure" is non-sexual in nature and secondary only to changing clothes for gym class... what's the big deal about a 14-year-old seeing a penis?

I guess I should be the bearer of bad tidings - by age 14 these days, I don't think there's a girl in the U.S. public school system who hasn't at least seen many pictures of penises. At the very least in sex ed/health class.

That's the problem. Once a girl sees a penis, that's all she can think about. That's why instead of holding hands or writing notes, 7th graders go down on each other all the time. Also Bill Clinton is partially to blame for that, obviously.

Thanks, Obama.

So we should go to totally co-ed locker rooms?

Edit: After hitting "reply," I realized that that comes off more sarcastic than what I meant. Philosophically, I can see the appeal of changing our society's views on nudity to be more like Sparta and less like, well, now. But that isn't going to happen any time soon.
