One caveat for those like me who are still cave dwelling, stone age dial-up users. The icons (banners as Braven calls them) freeze up everything for a few seconds, then the page downloads s-l-o-o-o-o-w-l-y. It's never caused any permanent freeze up or need to reboot though.

I was wondering that same thing, he did some great work on those things. And the graphics in the layout of the league page itself as well. Id love to get one for my teams, its really snazzy

you just need a good computer, mine never freezes up and no problem being slow

It's not the banners. They slow things down a touch, but it's all the other crap/modules is what slows it down.

How dare you imply my computer is the problem?! My TRS-80 is still all I'll ever need!Actually, the machine really isn't the problem. I have a good one. But the extra crap factor, as Twilight said, is probably it if you guys are having no trouble. Thanks for the heads up.Jurassic Potato

Is that a Model 1 or Model 2? I still remember a family member running his factory with the Model 2, having to swap out those 5 1/4 floppy disks (I believe that is what it was) for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Inventory, etc.

Yes, he did an excellent job, and he most likely used Photoshop.
Thanks guys!! These were done with Photoshop. Not recomended if you have dailup. (Hopefully that will be the nudge you need to fast forward the the year 2008 and get high speed!! :banned: )
While not as impressive as braven's, mine were done in Photoshop as well. Fun program to play around with.http://www36.myfantasyleague.com/2008/home/26264

I know it was hinted at earlier in the thread, but is this a service we can buy from you?

Don't sell yourself short. Those are very good as well.

Holy cow, Bruce. Do you have any hair left? I live out in the boonies & when we finally got access to high speed (albeit, satellite), I thought I had won the lottery. I think I'd rather have somebody pull my fingernails out, one by one, rather than go back to dial-up.Is it available in your area?

Look, I'm not stupid you know. I know what the problem is. It's all you people using the Internet too much. All your trade offers going across that, that Internet, and what happens to your own personal Internet? I just the other day got... an Internet was sent by another guy in my league at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday, I got it Tuesday. Why? Because it got tangled up with all these things going on the Internet.

They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the Internet. And again, the Internet is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.

So, it's just that my Internet tubes are too plugged up I think.

Thanks. You can see them better on this page ( http://football36.myfantasyleague.com/2008...=26264&O=01 ) It's really neat to learn new things with the application. Braven has some mad skills though. You should see some of his work at MFL.

Apologies for quoting my own post #22 and continuing this off topic stuff, but I received a PM from someone who took my post above seriously, thought I was a moron, and didn't know I was using lines from Senator Stevens and his 2006 "Series of Tubes" speech.
:wall: :penalty: :toilet:I guess we now know one more difference between the Shark Pool and the FFA.

Not yet, hopefully that will change soon, in the meantime if you, or anybody, wants banners for their league let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

I'm with MFL as well and I've seen Braven's work. It's awesome.

Can someone tell me how to get the icons to show up on the main page without the names. I selected to use the franchise icons on league pages instead of names and now what happens is on the main page instead of the icon and the name, it shows the icon twice. Lil help? I just want the icons to show up by themselves...once

I can't see your page and I'm assuming you are talking about your standings. What you'll need to do is go the the standings column setup and only choose or icon, as opposed to name and icon. If you select the name and icon you'll end up with two icons since you selected to have the franchise icons replace every instance of the franchise name on league pages.

Braven, you are the man. Your stuff is beautiful.Questions:Are these all less than 75kb? If not, how do you get around the MFL restriction?

Thanks, I appreciate it! I host all these on my own server so I don't have to be restricted by that; but that only comes into play for the league logo's that are only seen on each teams pages. The icons that everyone sees in the Hyper Active leagues are under 75kb, in fact most are around 8-10kb. The only time it really becomes an issue is for the team pages I have on some of my other sites like this:http://football30.myfantasyleague.com/2008...F=0011&O=01

http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2008/o...F=0014&O=01

Those images are 200-300kb but there is only one image per page instead of 12-24 images of the smaller icons.

I'm trying to add franchise icons that are the same size...300x50...but when it displays on the home page they look really squashed. Almost like 50x50. Is there something I'm missing? How can you get the standings column to display an image in it's correct size. I've removed the franchise names so it only displays the icons. Thanks for any and all information.

Ah photoshop, brings me back to my college days (only a few years ago) and a friend that used to make fake...we visit him every so often, mostly for conjugal visits. Seriously, great job Braven, def. going to be doing that for my league. And if you need photoshop its attainable through PM, for the right price

Best place for that question is at the MFL support forum. You just need to add a little css to your page to get in working right.

If you are going to create images from Adobe Photoshop for the web, you should also be working in Adobe ImageReady. You can decrease the file size alot by using ImageReady which will help with download time. (There are colors and pixels that can be compressed to help the overall size of the file)

Not sure about earlier versions but since at least since photoshop 7 there is a "save for web" or on cs3 "Save for Web & Devices" feature that does the same thing. Great for images like team icons, banners and logos.

Yes, Yes.I also believe the average user doesn't have Photoshop...and the few who do probably have Photoshop Elements(Dumb down version of Photoshop), which I'm not sure of all the features it has. But I do know that Element is cheaper, so that may be the direction for the user who are interested in making graphics.
