I am f@#$ing done with major concerts (1 Viewer)

Sorry EG. I was going through the same #### as you this morning looking for 4 tickets together. Around 10:15, I switched from 4 best available to 2 Upper section. I was able to get 2 pairs of tickets over the next 15 minutes. I know of 4 other friends that were shutout.

If something comes up and a ticket becomes available, You'll be the first person I contact.

If you've seen Tool anytime in the past.... I dunno.... 10 years, Id say...

You've seen them.

One of my all time fave bands, who absolutely MAIL IT IN when it comes to live shows now. It's pathetic.

Lateralus tour was the last time they cared about fans and a live performance.

Pearl Jam was a band Ive seen literally nearly 40 times, and each one is as good as the last. Tool plays the exact same set, MAYBE changing one track, no crowd interaction... And Maynard doesnt even attempt to hit the high notes anymore.

After following Tool for 4 straight shows last tour, I wish I had sold the tickets after the first.

Used to be such a great live band.. Just downhill since their "prime", imo.
Sucks to hear that. Parabola is one of my favorite tunes to play drums on.

I remember Springsteen being pissed at TM for diverting the tickets directly to Live Nation. There was a lawsuit but it may have been dismissed. Go figure.

Bruce Springsteen has responded to his fans' outcry following Ticketmaster's problem-laden sale of his Working on a Dream tour tickets earlier this week. Countless fans reported technical malfunctions during the onsale, while others complained that Ticketmaster forwarded them to the company's secondary ticket site, TicketsNow, even though seats were still available through Ticketmaster. The New Jersey Attorney General has also announced an investigation into the sale. Ticketmaster has since issued an apology to Springsteen, and vowed to make amends to confused fans.Link
will be going down this well next week. Hope it goes better than last time...

I kinda felt the same when I saw them in 2002. Huge fan, but left under whelmed after the show. Glad I saw them, but disappointed with the show. If that makes sense. Music was great, but I could enjoy that hanging on my porch instead of standing next to a bunch of sweaty smoking smelly beasts. No real desire to see them again.

Same thing happened to me when Pearl Jam came to Baltimore.. I talked about it in the PJ thread I'm sure.. anyway, I called Ticketmaster and there were TONS of singles left, just because the way they do it is so inefficient. Because who gives a #### about the paying fans, really. The guy sold me four singles on the end of rows down a line, and it was good enough, we were able to sit two and two when it all shook out.
first time going through ten club. I get that I don't have good priority, but does anyone know how awful this process is? I've read it's better than it used to be, but that may or may not say much. May not matter since my buddies have good priority and will probably get the tickets, just trying to get a sense of how aggravating this is going to be.

Presale is the way to go. Ticketmaster usually has an Amex pre-sale, and the bands usually have something. I've bought presale codes on eBay for $5. Never been shut out. Last year roverkid wanted Taylor Swift tix for Christmas. 60,000 seat venue sold out in 2 hours. I had my tickets 3 days before that happened.

You couldn't pay me to go to a major hard rock act or stadium show anymore. Aside from the ticket issue you have stinky mosh pits with hoards of white trash in wife beaters looking to brawl at the drop of a hat. The atmosphere totally sucks when you get anywhere near the stage.

Fortunately for me I'm getting older and go to mostly smaller venues with older farts like myself where you don't have to bring three buddies to watch your back every moment. I like bands like Tool but to me the big venue atmosphere sucks for the majority of hard rock acts ( I'd say PJ is an exception for the most part but you can encounter idiots at any venue/act ) and isn't worth the headache.

I had a friend growing up who's brother was a security guy for Don Law, got into tons of concerts at the Centrum in Worcester MA

( Van Halen, AC DC, ZZ Top etc.) for free many times up front or on the side of the stage. Good times. I honestly feel bad for the current generation of fans from an atmospheric standpoint.

10 club rocks. Website is usually stable (I've never had an issue). Log in. Specify the shows you want. Order tickets. Get confirmation.

Then you just show up at the show the day of, and pick up your tickets with ID and CC. Only downside (can be fun, too) is having no idea where your seats are until right before the show. (Short of knowing if you got pit or ha).

There may be room for improvement, but PJ has the concert experience down pat, IMO.

Yup - I made the same pledge a few years ago. Done with the game. Then I tried to get UFC tickets for McGreggor Aldo a few months back. Even bought the UFC insider package to have a real chance. .0001 seconds into the sale I was on, got locked up, 2 min later sold out. 3 min free that 1,000 tickets on stubhub all for 5-10 times face. And what's worse UFC had guaranteed seats that come with a "VIP experience" for 20X.

Tickets are a sham.

Yep, it's a total scam now. TM is in bed with scalpers, which is why five minutes after tickets are on sale, they are on sale through TM for absurd amounts. Unreal that they are allowed to get away with that.

Plus, like others have said, crowds just suck now. Too many people yapping away, holding their stupid phones up and obstructing the view of others, etc.

The internet screws up the ticket sales model. Some yoyo in Bakersfield can buy tickets to Springsteen in NJ and put them up on Stubhub or felchpro and sell them to my neighbor. Competition from the entire world vs local chasing at the record store when we were all kids. There is no chance anymore.

It's really lame. Just no reason to deal with all that mess now, which is sad. We had a lot of good times over the years going to every concert we wanted to see. Now it's a joke. Ruined a great past time.

Did people complain the same 20 years ago if they got stuck at the back of supermarket line and didn't get tickets?

Yes the current system of selling tickets is flawed. But everyone's argument of "I was online right on time if not early and I didn't get the tickets I deserve" needs to stop.

Not sure you have an appreciation for how rigged it is and how few tickets from ticketmaster actually end up going straight into the hands of fans these days. And it was extremely rare for an arena show to sell out so quickly that anybody who waited in line got shut out.

This.

Before the internet if you woke up and went to the local kiosk and waited in line you were getting tickets. Now only brokers get tickets. Big difference between me not getting tickets because my neighbor got in line first and Vinne the New York based broker getting 100 tickets to resell online at a big markup.

Those were the days though, pulling all-nighters in the parking lot or sidewalk of a ticketron or bass outlet. The Who, Stones, Dead, Ozzy. Always a tailgate party and everybody who was willing to put in the time would get tickets.

Just saw this, I can say that Ticketmaster hates brokers and I can assure you they aren't helping any of them. They actually have gone on record in some industry meetings saying that within some timeframe they would like to put some brokers out of business. They want to not only be a near monopoly in the primary sales market, but to force you to use them for secondary sales through deals with the NBA Ticket Exchange, etc. There are brokers who get seats through automated programs, but Ticketmaster certainly is active in trying to stop them.

If you think prices are high now, wait until they force fans to use them for secondary as well through paperless seating etc. That way you can only resell your seats on their Ticketmaster Plus site. This goes back to the whole legal argument about when you buy a ticket do you have a piece of property you have the right to resell, or have you merely purchased a license that can be revoked and you have to adhere to the issuers' policies including if you can resell it, where you can resell it, etc. TM has partnered with some teams, entertainers, and venues to try and force this.

Ticketmaster has no true interest in keeping your price low, they have every interest in controlling your rights of resell so they can capture any sales fees at whatever rate they deem fit.
