Well, the trip home was going super smoothly. Made it all they way to Dallas, and I’m on the plane to Phoenix.

But, there are storms in Dallas and the Phoenix airport is closed due to storms so we are pulled over with the engines off “waiting it out…”

What do you do

Play with the penguin you smuggled on board.

Well, the trip home was going super smoothly. Made it all they way to Dallas, and I’m on the plane to Phoenix.

But, there are storms in Dallas and the Phoenix airport is closed due to storms so we are pulled over with the engines off “waiting it out…”

I hope you sat there, stroked your grizzled beard and said loudly to no one in particular, while clinking the ice cubes in your cocktail glass half full of cheap bourbon:

"This delay pales in comparison to navigating the drake passage twice in the previous fortnight. We shall endure."

We were a 7 on the Beaufort Scale going there and an 8 coming back. They said that’s a “typical rough passing.”

Yesterday was our last landing. We are heading back home now. Last night across the Drake was a little rough but no worse than last time. But they told us yesterday to prepare because they expected a very rough day today. We will see…

Those little dudes are awesome! But the guides are VERY strict about getting too close to them.

It is really incredible how they have absolutely no fear of humans. It’s like we aren’t even there.

Are they good dancers?

I'm sure they are so accustomed to humans by now that they don't feel threatened by our presence. They could be more agressive if you got closer to them.

They have zero fear of humans. The scientists that are studying them just walked through the colony and absolutely nothing happened. They act like we aren’t even there. It’s wild.
