I Bought Calvin Johnson Low For _________. (1 Viewer)

This has to be the biggest buy low point in Megatron's career. He's underperformed (at least in terms of TDs) and now he's a little banged up. His owners are frustrated and anxious.

There is risk: Calvin's injury could be real and unless T. Young and R. Broyles start loosening up things, the double and triple teams will continue.

That said, the potential upside is huge. It's likely that Calvin's TD numbers will regress to the mean...which means head upwards during the 2nd half. He's also had his bye week and teams I see on the schedule (GBx2, INDY, AZ, ATL) are favorable for WRs.

So who has taken advantage? And at what price?

I feel like this historic window closes after a blowup game @JAX.

He was traded in one of my redrafts for Pierre Thomas and Hakeem Nicks yesterday after the Sproles news broke -- guy trading away Calvin had Sproles and no real backup plan at RB. Seemed pretty fair to me.

Calvin's knee is an issue sore etc., I don't think he back to the old Calvin until next year. He is a sell this year

Sore vs. structural damage are two different things.I think he can overcome the soreness. What I'd be more concerned about is some kind of sprain (i.e. MCL) that the Lion's staff is hiding.Calvin's upcoming schedule is absolutely delicious: @JAX, @MN (can be had), GB, HOU, Indy, @GB, @AZ, ATL. Only trouble I see is the HOU bump in the road. In addition, I think the Burleson injury could be a blessing in disguise. It's going to force T. Young to step up (which he already did) and it gets a more dynamic playmaker in Broyles on the field. If those two can continue to loosen things up...and assuming Megatron is healthy enough...things should get better for Calvin. The laws of statistics are in Calvin's favor as well. Do we really think he's going to duplicate his 1 TD performance in the first 8 games?KY

I came very close, and probably will pull the trigger with another dud this week, to selling him for Doug Martin and Austin Miles in a dynasty league.

I was offered Calvin for Harvin. Very tempting but I decided to pass because of uncertainty with the knee.
Interesting. The Calvin owner wants Harvin from me.I'm tempted. Harvin still has his bye. And some tough matchups coming -- CHI and HOU during the playoffs.I'm currently contemplating I give Harvin & Lloyd and I get Calvin & R. Bush.KY

As a Calvin owner in 2 leagues, there is no way I'm selling now.

There is really nothing that has changed from preseason expectations except for the TDs.

The targets are still there. The red zone looks are still there. Nothing has changed at QB, and if it does, Hill has shown the willingness & the ability to get Johnson the ball.

To my eye, he looks fine running his routes, and he looks like the same player as he has in the past. He's making a few uncharacteristic drops, several of them in the end zone - but as an owner there is no way I'd sell him now.

High floor, high upside. Why sell?

You know, you should probably re-think signing your posts with Anal Lubrication brands. Calvin is still VERY tightly held by most owners in dynasty leagues. And I would not want to buy him in re-drafts currently either. So probably not much movement going on with him. Offered Roddy White and was turned down.

Because signing every post you make on a message board that shows your username next to that same post is so necessary? Don't really understand this trend, but signing posts as "KY" was a little too much.Annoying even when Quiz Guy does it, and I don't really think anyone enjoyed it when the "Football Critic" did it either (remember him?).

Just totally unnecessary and self-aggrandizing. And you tell ME to grow up?

Long time reader first time poster but the owner in my league sold him and Gore for McGahee, Jordy, A. Boldin. That's a lot...

Unless you have a really crappy record and need to make a move to have a shot at the playoffs, there is no way anyone should be selling him right now. It's the lowest possible value you'll get for him this season.

He's one of those players that is never a legit "buy low" IMO. Assuming you're playing in a league with decent owners. The price is still extremely high as it should be, especially in dynasty leagues.

Take that.

Deep 20 team td redraft league: bought calvin and M. Bush for M. Wallace, D. Brown, and J. Freeman and to be perfectly honest i am regretting it right now.

Thank you for bringing a moment of clarity to this thread. Only thing worth reading.

I bought him this week for Doug Martin straight up.

I'm not sure how I feel about it though. I was very strong at RB and week at WR, so it made sense. And I have Stafford so that's always fun.

I'm willing to take my chances with him because his ceiling is so high, but I must say I am a bit uneasy about the whole thing.

i think this is a great trade with the injuries on the TB o-line. looks to me like you sold martin high and bought johnson low.

It is the guys initials, get over it. You need to grow up.

Right now I wouldn't buy Calvin in a redraft league. It seems like his knee is getting progressively worse and it wouldn't surprise me if he has a knee scope soon which would cost him 2-3 weeks. Will he even be active today?

The reason to sell would be to try an upgrade at another position. And Calvin hasn't looked like the old Calvin all season, I think he's been hurt since the first game an progressively getting worse here now.He hasn't made the leaping or diving catches and slow out of his brakes. It's just not the same Calvin, now or at the beginning of the season, I'dsay if you could get something you NEED for him then do it before you can't.

As an owner this rotoworld clip makes me sad. Someone who just bought him at a discount may like it very much though.

Calvin Johnson has been tackled at the one-yard line four separate times this season. He was also dragged down at the two-yard line on Sunday. The seeming statistical improbability is one of the main reasons he has just one touchdown after finding the end zone 16 times in 2011. It's the only discernible difference between his two campaigns, as he's still on pace for 96 catches and 1,534 yards despite the perception that he's having a down year. It's hard to believe Megatron's touchdown rate won't pick up in the second half.
