"I didn't start Alex Smith and I want to puke" (1 Viewer)

No big deal.... I didn't need those 24 points.

As much as I want to, there's no way I can kick myself for this one. He has been HORRIBLE lately, and this game was being played in a hurricane. You had to figure it would be a run-fest.

Yeah, I'm pointing.... I'm pointing.

Who are you starting??

Oh, he's not my stud. It's a start-2-QB league. The second slot was between Smith and Campbell, and even though Campbell should have to throw a ton at New Orleans, it will be a tall order to match Smith's efforts tonight. Oh well. :ptts:

With the way Smith has been playing, you 100% can't kick yourself for not starting him. I'm not.
Yeah, why in the world worry about it?He's been lousy lately, playing in the rain (re: last year, small hands/fumbling) , against what was supposed to be a solid Seattle D. I'd be shocked if anybody started him.

I WANTED to lose this week so I started A lex Smith. Already lost in the first round of the toilet bowl. Of course he blows up. I should have played Grossman. I guess this is why I am in the toilet bowl. Next year I am using the Costanza method.

Guy I'm playing started him. It was looking really good until late in the game. :bag:

Count me in. Got to face Gore and Alexander, as well.

Well, I guess you have to assume a high-scoring game in Hurricane-force winds and rain, right?

Not only did I have Alex Smith on the bench, but right before game time, I benched Vernon Davis because of the weather. Now, I'll be starting Jeff Garcia and either Ben Watson or Tony Sheffler. I would've taken Smith's and Davis's combined 40 points any day of the week.

:wall:   :yucky:  :hot:  :X

Not starting Alex Smith, on the road, against a good defense, in a monsoon, and then kicking yourself afterwards is like folding your one-outer to an all-in on the turn and seeing your card hit the river.

It didn't work out, but it was still the right call.

That is the best game I've seen him play. Maybe he's been better at other times, but I've not seen those games. To go on the road against a pretty decent team and play so well, especially in the 4th, was impressive. He made some very nice throws, some throws I didn't know he could make. He also moved around very well in the pocket.

I'm not sure I think that he'd be in the top half of my list of 1st Round Qbs from the last half decade, but he certainly looked good last night and hopefully can build on that performance.

I have 3 garbage QBs to choose from, after losing McNabb. The only guy I didn't even consider was Alex Smith. I am starting Cutler, my other choice was Garrard. I hope it doesn't cost me...

Smith has been bad lately, but brutal on the road all year. The guy had 4 total TDs in 6 road games this year, then gets 3 in one game, which was touted as having the worst wind conditions of all time? Nobody could've predicted that.

I'm sure most would've projected Smith around 120 passing yd, no TDs, 2 INTs- considering the weather forecast.

:goodposting: My league penalizes for INTs and he had 9 INTs in those 6 road games. Also, Seattle is #3 in sacks, so I figured he would be intercepted at least twice. Now, I have to hope Brad Johnson (start 2 QB league with keepers, so backup QBs are hard to come by especially once Plummer was officially black listed) can put up the #s.I know Johnson hasn't been great, but before the Chicago debacle 2 weeks ago, he averaged 250+ yards and 1.3 TDs a week the 3 previous weeks. Also, his last 2 home games were 250+ yard games.I was actually feeling real good about sitting Alex Smith and Deion Branch (still fine about that one) when I turned on the game. He had 50 yards passing and no TDs going into the 4th Quarter. 75% of the game was exactly why all of us sat him and were correct about it. Then Seattle just implodes. Since I started Josh Brown, I especially loved them going for it on 4th down instead of a 40+ yard FG to tie. That play right there lost them the game.
